I have a black 43.5 PO and I love it. I have a 6.5 inch wrist and I don't find it too large at all. I bought it to wear (it's not a case princess), and I often wear it to work at a very manual hands-on job. It took me two and a half years to save for it and I have absolutely no buyer's remorse - the PO is a great watch!
Fantastic comment, pinning it!
@@BruceWilliams thank you👍
My buddy has that. Super comfortable bracelet and it wears easy for a mega diver.
The best diver available today, full stop
Nice Longines Hydroconquest homage 😜
I purchased this exact model last year, preferring it more than the hi-shine colour ways. Stunning piece and my favourite watch. My UK AD did me a good deal fitting the OEM brushed bracelet all for £500 less than the RRP of the watch. It is a chunky boy but I love the weight on my wrist.
Thanks for what you do. I subscribed today.
Thank you very much. I'll keep the content on the way, and I'll try to do a great job.
This watch is speaking to me….Great review
This watch is just a good solid all-around diver. The dial is readable. It has all the water resistance you will ever need or use . Plus all the quality omega gives in a product.
Spot on with all of it Bruce.
I love the aesthetic even the sand version
But needs a bracelet
And it’s too big for too many people
If it were 41/2 then maybe
Super movement but they’re so thick it makes them so bulky and a bit awkward.
I’d go for a sea dweller over this or a pre-owned blancpain bathyscaphe
Thanks for the review
I get the thickness for depth rating on this...but Omega needs to make smaller and slimmer watches. They have become way too beefy. I was all Omega in my collection until a few years ago, and I just can't wear them anymore. Still have respect for the brand though.
They do make tall watches for sure
I'm with you brother. I had a large omega collection back in the 1990's when I still went diving. All of them, including the 1970's models were slim, water resistant enough for rec diving, and were perfectly sized. In fact, for a while, you could get their watches in small/medium and large. I don't understand the obsession with a 200 gram 1.5 cm thick puck of metal on one's wrist.
Excellent looking watch. I've seen all 3 of the new colors in person but like this one the most.
Definitely agree that the value isn't there with this version😢
Great video 🇨🇦👏🙏
If Omega would just kill the date, I would run to buy one to add it to my collection.
I'd love to see Omega do a 40mm diver like this one or the Seamaster, with a standard WR/thickness. Titanium would be the cherry on top if they dont drain all the colour out of it like seems to be the industry standard practice.
Edit: this watch is beautiful, just proportionally a bit off for my tastes.
I love it. It does look really really good on that strap but I wouldn't spend like that for no bracelet. Show me 8500 brushed bracelet and rubber included.
Love the PO. I’ve mentioned before, oh I didn’t already own the SMP, a PO would be on my wrist.
Love it! “Plain” color schemes age well imho.
Good point
Bruce the bezel is misaligned half a click. Stands out in the lume shot! My 6 month old 8900 is too and I can't unsee it 🤨. C'mon Omega not good enough!!
It's the angle of the watch to the camera. Definitely not half a click off. Maybe a quarter click at most, but looked aligned in person
My 2021 39.5mm PO is also off slightly at 12 albeit by less than half a click. Irritates me but I’ve learned not to look too often
Thanks for the introduction to this watch. I own and love a couple of the earlier, more glossy versions of the planet ocean and they are among my favorites in my collection. But the toned down version is enticing as well. Great job, thanks.
I agree with you. Although I've only owned one prior planet ocean I love the line. I think the Ultra Deep is the most enticing diver to me at the moment from this brand. But they make a lot of good ones
I'll keep my TUDOR Pelagos FXD MN
When I first saw it I was interested but I think Omega is getting into a habit of giving less for more. I appreciate the brushing on the hands and logo but this has a simpler finished all brushed case compared to the standard model and no bracelet but is the same price as the bracelet version - not good value for money.
This is the same price as a Grand Seiko Hi-Beat GMT SBGJ237 (although not a diver) which I own and I just don't see how it can justify it other than Omega's superior brand equity. Omega makes fantastic watches but needs to calm down on the pricing. I think the reaction to the recent Speedmaster Moonphase Meteorite releases shows this - gorgeous but the price surprised everyone.
Lemme guess: Omega is keeping the Planet Ocean as a 46mm watch because of "wrist presence". Makes one wonder how the actual professional divers (before they stopped wearing watches) managed to survive on 36mm models. And those guys back then weren't fat people sitting on bar stools and sun loungers.
Just get them all.
Interesting. I bought this watch after trying it on at a boutique. Very subdued and perfect for travel/sport without the flash. I own a GO SeaQ, black on bracelet, and the 2 watches are polar opposites. Lots of polish on the GO, especially the bracelet. Very different wearing experience. This color palate is substantially different than the 300 and 300m, at least to me. I have the 300 in summer blue and the 300m in white on black strap. All different looking. All durable. All fairly priced either new with a discount and no sales tax or pre-owned. Interesting that the GO SeaQ pre-owned comes close to the price of this PO. All great stuff...
Excellent comment with first hand experience
How thick is it then? How big is the case?
No date option maybe, but who has been waiting around for many, many years for a PO color change?
No micro adjustments for the strap at this price? Longines is able to provide it on many of their strap models.
Are these actually new POs or just different colors/finishing? I don't see what's actually new regarding movement, case sizing/dimensions or bracelet. This looks like different color ways.
I didn't realize these came out and it dropped my jaw when I saw it in person. It almost looks like titanium. I only wish it came with a bracelet but the strap is awesome too. The lady at the Omega store told me they fitted a normal bracelet on it, there was a slight color difference due to the finish but client was happy she said. I wouldn't go bracelet unless it was made for this watch.
That is good feedback! That would keep me from buying this watch. A bracelet is a must for me
@@BruceWilliams I'm in the same boat but considering it has the deployant clasp, it quickly jumped to the top of my list. I was shopping for a new watch and they were all around $2k-4k but think I'm gonna wait and save more for this watch.
Love the grey version you're presenting here. Thank god 42mm is my limit. Your criticism is once again to the point. Imagine a 41mm version without a helium valve but with a beautiful new bracelet.
If you don't love the HEV buy a Submariner. It's part of the Omega design language and it's not leaving.
@@Michaelair2323 Omega Submariner, clear thing!
I'm excited to see what Omega will do this year with the Plan ocean line. Now that they have made an ultra deep without a helium escape valve and only 18mm thick for a 6000m diver , Omega can surely use that tech and make a 600m PO without one too and make it thinner as well .
Now this is me doing wishful thinking. My dream Omega PO would be the 39.5mm ( hope Omega also fixes the proportions a bit and makes it a classic 40/20 watch l.e 40mm diameter with 20mm lug width instead of the awkward
39.5/19 ), with no date and no helium escape valve, 8912 movement,O-mega steel (ridiculous name that gets a chuckle out of me every time I read or hear about it ), that new bracelet with the chamfered polished edges and the new slick looking clasp like in the ultra deeps, with the same simple black ceramic dial and bezel like the current gen PO.
How amazing would that be eh?
What are your thoughts on what could be in the pipeline for the Omega PO line Bruce ?
Where does the name of the lugs originate ?
Lyre lugs are twisted/curved lugs. I think the name references the shape of the Lyre instrument which was a curved harp. The name is Greek.
I'd sell my Tudor 925 towards this right now. Just need to see it in the metal first. Great video Bruce!
Thanks watchrolling!
@BruceWilliams you're welcome!
The extra crown at 10:00 looks ridiculous.
I don’t like the omega heritage or the alter deep because they don’t have any date. I like the aesthetics of those watches, but I don’t buy any watches without a date so that’s my big complaint with Omega. They have majority of their new watches seem to not have dates anymore
All I see is people praising the 8900 movement and the jumping hour hand function, but they fail to realise that you loose the quickset date function with a jumping hour hand . The quickset date is much more used on the daily than a jumping hour hand !
Imagine you have like a 3 watch rotation and you leave the 8900 movement PO out of cycle for 7 days , the power reserve runs out in 2 days . To get to the right date of 5 days ahead you need to go through 120 clicks of the jumping hour hand smh , good luck dealing with that lol . I would find that extremely annoying !! The 8800 movement is much better with a quick set date and just 5 hour less power reserve .
Give me a time zone hour over a quickest date 10 out of 10 times!
Like so many I use the jumping hour or adjust the time, far more than adjusting the date.
The problem with this argument is that it ignores the fact that you wouldn't want to wear any other watch! :P
@dalesmith7250 not at all. Wear any other watch you want. Wind the one you don't every couple of days. Or buy a winder. Or take 30 seconds and adjust the date if you dont haha
@@BruceWilliams I agree completely. It’s not like one rotation of the crown equals one hour. I have an Aqua Terra and it is incredibly easy and fast to change the date. An extra few seconds of time is not a life changer and is certainly no reason to avoid such a great watch, brand, and movement.
Date function over hour change for me.
Dang, that's a good looking watch! That Uemura usually outshines whatever is next to it, but not in this case... Pun intended. Thanks for the great reviews!
Thank you!
I really like the muted grey. Actually love it. I'm not the shiny ostentatious kinda style of a guy, so it fits me. Hell, my GF says my favorite color is drab😂
Into it
Lol
Nice
Nearly bought one of these but the awful thickness problem Omega have totally ruined it for me along with the stupid printing on the display case back. The bezel action was terrible too but Omega can’t make a bezel click feel nice in general 🤦🏻♂️
The Ultra Deep has the best action I've seen from the brand. Still nowhere close to other brands though
@ yes the ultra deep is a touch better than the Seamaster regarding the bezel action but we are starting at a very low point. Omega need to up their game in many areas massively if they want to stay relevant and charge what they are trying to charge 🤦🏻♂️
All they need to do know is lower the price and all would be good. Omega's profits down 75% for 2004 and maybe worse for 2025 if they keep raising prices.
Omega isn't going to drop prices if anything they will keep raising prices. The brand has lost the plot unfortunately
Amazing watches but toooooo thick
The only version of this I'd take is the summer blue edition
it's so good
I like the sand colored model. I have to admit that I am one of those who love the bracelet and wish that they would use it on the standard Seamaster's. I have never bonded with the 80's style Bond Bracelet. I would pay more for a solid case back if it were to be offered, and I were looking to buy this watch. I do prefer the PO to the Bond models. I love your Creamcicle version.
Sand is also my favorite of the three new colors
Don’t like that intrusive helium escape valve
The case thickness with its lug to lug sizing is off. It’s too thick. I do not understand why Omega doesn’t make its cases thinner! It could give the Submariner a run for the money. The Rolex Sub is boring to me. But, it has excellent fit on any wrist.
I’ve owned two POs and have traded both because of fit.
Excellent diver if you have a big wrist and if you don't want a Tudor, Glashütte, (Grand) Seiko or a Rolex. Logo on see-through case back is not pretty. Also the date wheel could be the same colour as the dial. I like the bezel and it is much better then on the Seamaster 300m (difficult to grip)
Hi Bruce. Short question for advice. I already own the SD43, Tudor Pelagos blue 42mm (the best Pelagos), JLC reverso and some Panerai's. I am torn between Explorer 2 Black 42mm and new Submariner date for my next watch. What would you pick and why? Thanks in advance. Cheers Bart
Omega's starting to get lazy. New colors are great (grey to the PO, green to the SMP), but they aren't listening to their consumers who want thinner cases, better bracelets, and more size options.
swatch group never got right with the bracelets, rolex is still at the top of the game for it.
not possible to do thinner its 600m diver!
Divers are not small....they make a 39m version
@@picanha694 they’ve been improving. The new Speedmaster and Aqua Terra bracelets are pretty decent
@@cfcblue8 until they do i wouldn't even consider them.
Not really liking the heavy brushing on the markers and hands. 😮
Lose the date, make it smaller, lume the numerals
2 questions : 1) Does it come in 39.5 2) Is there a bracelet option to fit this (from OMEGA or Aftermarket)?
well... I should have watched the whole video before asking...
No worries Paul
0:15 Those hands and logo look horrible. Were they made in a Soviet tank factory?
Yes too thick , no bracelet, expensive. I generally love omegas designs , but ive never purchased one because of this. Do a 41mm , 13mm or less thick , and a nice bracelet , and it would be a serious option to rolex. As it is , tudor are spanking omega now , as their t fit bracelets and sensible sized , thinner cases , with metas , jubiilee or oyster choices , as well as being cheaper by some margin . If omega dont get their act together , they could be in serious trouble.
I should’ve waited for this grey. I bought the black PO in ceramic and titanium in 39.5mm dial for $11,200 smh
Here’s my problem with the newer Seamaster or Planet Ocean. If I replace my og Seamaster wave dial, then I have to replace my OG orange bezel planet ocean. Because need both. Also, before replacing both, I’d have to actually keep my my og wave Seamaster and og orange planet ocean, and buy different color iterations. Because need both sets. Dilemma. I need money.
3:11 Seiko alignment?
Spotted it too
No, just the camera angle
Plain and boring for my taste
That's rich from somebody with a black submariner
Agreed. Boring.
Opinions vary.
planet ocean boring and plain, lol - you comedian you!
Omega has lost the plot with prices. Just sick of the brand all they do is milk the Speedmaster every 2 months and they don't listen to the fans either. Omega needs someone new in charge
Why are you crying? Buy something else.
$7500 is the msrp
I'm not sure where you live. It's 7100 here in the US
@BruceWilliams your right, I'm sorry I thought the linen one and this one were the same price. I just looked it up.
Does nothing for me .
Not a fan. Big boring busy and not very coherent as a design imo. Much prefer the Seiko Marinemaster SLA079 to this.
That bezel looks real cheap.
Divers need the domed crystal otherwise I’m just not a fan
That Seiko watch you showed by comparison is just awful looking.
