They're a good band, with a long history behind them. Well worth more listens.
Yeah defo - don't think I can judge them entirely on this one track alone. I reckon they probably genre hop on numerous songs.
Check out "Paradise (What About Us)" ft. Tarja (yes, that Tarja)- it's heavy and it rocks!
Thanks for the recommendation 👍
this band is soooo good, you need to check more songs from them , within temptation live shows are amazing check that🤟🤟🤟
I'd be more interested to watch one of their live performances vs a MV tbh. Any specific live shows on UA-cam with good audio and video quality? E.g. Nightwish @ Wacken 2013 are all solid.
@@melvinthinks well you the black symphony show,
let us burn-elementse hydra live in concert
Woodstock Festival Poland 2015
amazing stuff
Thanks dude! 👍
They've been around as long as Nightwish. Formed in 1996 by lead singer Sharon den Adel and her partner ,guitarist Robert Westerholt. Sharon is mostly self taught, and uses her degree in fashion design to make a lot of her stage outfits. 8 albums to date, yes from "The Unforgiven" , the 5th album.
They are based in symphonic metal, but they will use elements from several genres, and will move around to other styles more often than others. Generally not as heavy as Nightwish or EPICA, but they still rock.🤘🤘
YES!, go down the rabbit hole. Next from WT, I highly recommend the recently released live version of "The Reckoning" feat Amy Lee(Evanescence).
Yeah - I didn't mind this. This song is sort of 'commercial' or 'pop-rock' for me. Very radio friendly. Sort of reminds of stuff I'd hear in early to mid noughties.
You need to check out Trophy Hunter by them. It's sadly overlooked but it is a great track. Or their most recent one, A Fool's Parade
Cheers Cristina 👍😬
Each of their albums has a different sound or style overall. If you wanna hear them in their full symphonic glory check out some songs from their "Black Symphony" or "Elements" concerts, they have a full orchestra on stage at both shows. They formed in April 1996, their first album released in April 1997 was more along the lines of doom metal with symphonic elements and also featured male growl vocals on some songs. They got rid of the growl vocals from their second album onwards only featuring them on about 4 additional songs since that time.
Thanks very much for this info 👍 I don't really think I captured the essence of the band in this particular song, so I 'd like to do another track of theirs in the future. Definitely a live video.
I consider them the Dutch Nightwish I have fallen hard for them in the last 12-14 months and to name one song is like picking just one Nightwish song just impossible so I will give a few Let Us Burn , Iron, Shot in the Dark,Sinead,The Purge Paradise featuring Tarja from Nightwish and the song that made me love them. And we Run featuring EXzibit
Xzibit? Are you shitting me? You learn something new every day! lol
Within Temptation and particularly the Unforgiving album got me into the Symphonic Metal Genre because of its mainstream influences. It is still the album I listen to most frequently. Paradise (what about us), as has been already suggested, should be right up your street. One of my personal favourites is "Iron". There is a live version on You Tube where they play with a full orchestra and choir here ua-cam.com/video/N15U0Lh6dho/v-deo.html. Hopefully the quality of the video is good enough.
Nice one, buddy! Thanks for this 🙏
They're fun to listen to, the live shows are even better!
Just as an example, I love having this one in the background while working on stuff

But to be honest and fair, they have not been "metal", definitely not "symphonic metal" for a very very long time.
They are, essentially, "the pop of metal" - nothing wrong with that, but it should be recognized as what it is.
Great band, lots of fun.
Exactly. Pop rock. Radio rock. Commercial rock. Whatever you want to call it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad thing. It just makes it more accessible. From what I've read, their symphonic roots are apparent more in their earlier tracks and albums. I'd definitely like to hear more stuff in the future.
@@melvinthinks They are, and you will see their earlier content is very different.
Hi there :) I'm new on your channel but maybe I'll stick around cause I see that you reacted to a lot of bands I like. Within Temptation is my favourite of all of them so I hope to see you reacting to some more of their songs :) They released live version of Faster not so long ago, it would be lovely if you would check it out :)
That's because I have great music taste 😉 Hello back at ya and thanks for 1) watching and 2) commenting 👍 Like it when newbies stumble upon the channel and the community so hope you stick around and enjoy the ride!
Great reaction. I would recommend the songs before 2010, although i like their later stuff too. Try Mother Earth - ua-cam.com/video/u5yyFrfR37I/v-deo.html or Iron - ua-cam.com/video/Bom2zkFts9Y/v-deo.html
Thank you very much 🙏 Faster possibly isn't the best representation of the band, but I had to start somewhere, I guess.
WT is one of those bands like Nightwish who are better live, IMO. Also each album had a different sound, so you can get gothic, celtic, melodic, symphonic, industrial, techno, depending on what era you listen to. Some people see this as a plus, some people do not, but it means if you pick a song at random you won't know what you are getting!
I'd like to get them another chance at some stage - and will definitely be a live track/video. I prefer live performances vs MV too. It's a better viewing experience imo, unless the video is cinematic or has purpose.
