I've been a fan of Floor for over 25 years. Her skills and personality are unmatched. I've seen her live and met her. She's such a beautiful human being inside and out. So powerful, yet so humble. Lovely reaction. God bless you 🙏
You are absolutely right about what it reminds you. Tuomas wrote this after his father died. The song is about a life well lived, about he ancestors who lightened our paths, just as we will do for those who come after us. It's about how the people before us are remembered.
The old style movie projector in the video represents your beautiful memories of your grandma, playing back your wonderful memories of her life well-lived. The things she taught you, whether directly or taught by example, are her lantern light showing you the way to live your own best life in honor of her. As the clicking of the movie projector slows down and goes dark at the very end of the song, it is a reminder to each of us that our own projectors will someday, too, go out. And we will then become, like your grandma, the lantern light in the next generation's memory of us. So we must live our best, honorable life for not only our own benefit but to be the wayshowers for them as well. 😢🙂😔
You are SPOT ON dear lady with your guess about the song's meaning... BTW, if there ever flow some tears during hearing NW songs, please be assured you would be not the first one... in fact, most of us were!
You were so right in your reaction: It was written by Tuomas after his father died. And he said it is not a said song, but full of memories. His life was celebrated in the song. When Floor heard for the first time, she could only cry. So, these tears belong to this song.
Floor recorded her voice for the Yesterwynde album 6 weeks after giving birth to her second daughter Lucy, she had still issues with traveling but her voice was great as you can hear. The band travelled to Sweden to join her in finishing the album.
It's about people who have passed away but are seen again in the daily things we do. They are always with you in everything you see and hear. Greetings from the Netherlands.
Lanternlight is breathtakingly gorgeous ❣️ Not able to listen to this with dry eyes, it goes straight to your soul. It’s so fragile and strong at the same time. What a gorgeous piece of music composed by Tuomas and so emotionally sung by Floor. Tuomas said that Lanternlight is a song of love to celebrate live of the people that passed. In this case mainly his dad. My favorite song from the new album followed by An Ocean of Strange Islands.
"Flute" is the right idea. There is a family of instruments called flutes that sub-divide into two commonly called flutes and whistles. "flutes" are blown in the side and holes are covered with mechanical covers. "Whistles" are blown from the end and holes are covered with fingers. The song discusses that our family is never really gone. They are in the things that remind us of them every day. Our deepest condolences for the loss of your grandmother.
Wonderful reaction. My song of the year. Yesterwynde is a Masterpiece, and Lanternlight is the perfect ending of the Trilogie EfmB, Human/Nature and YW. Grettings from northern Germany 🤘
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before, but the forerunner of the film projector was called a "magic lantern'. I think this could be where the title comes from, knowing Tuomas and his deep knowledge of obscure facts.
My personal song of the year 2024. Top 3 in my NW rating. Whatever guard you have up, when Floor's voice comes in she cut's thru it like a fresh sharpened butcher knife and get's you right into your soul and while your bleeding out you feel satisfied. When Floor goes into her emotional mode you can sleep in the finnish winter outside in the woods and still be warmed by her voice and feel comfortable. Much Love from Germany to you and your passionate reactions!
Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that Tuomas wrote to celebrate the life of his father who passed away in 2021. For me it empowers us to recognize our connection to nature and one another, ultimately signifying that even in times of uncertainty, despair & sorrow, there is beauty and hope to be found under the glow of the lanternlight. P.S. Their new album "Yesterwynde" is a sonic masterpiece.
This song was written by Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard / Piano player, who also writes the lyrics, and plays the music. Tuomas is a once in a generation....as like Sir Elton John was in the 1960's to current times. If you want to listen to some of Elton Johns more soft and beautiful songs, try the album "Blue Moves" and the song "Tonight"..... It is beautil! When you had tears coming down your cheeks, all of the Nightwish Army understand! I know at 67 years old...Tuomas writes some of the most beautiful songs that bring tears to my eyes! At 1.99 m tall...I would have given you a big hug, and tell you, "Crying during a Nightwish song is normal!" My parents have all passed, and a nephew passed at 21 years or as did one of my niece's, who was seeking a career as a poet, passed from a rare disease at 21 years old! I wish I could have seen them grow up...as I loved both of them so much!
Great to have you back doing Reactions. You are so honest and beautiful Soul and I always especially enjoy you reactions and comments, so please continue on your pace doing these reactions :)
Have you heard of REN? From UK. He's a brilliant artist of our time, one that should not go unheard of, or unseen. I can't recommend his song 'Hi Ren' enough. Thank you for the great reaction. New sub.
There are a surprising number of Nightwish fans who also love Ren. He couldn't be any more different musically, but as far as talent goes they complement each other very well.
Great reaction, in my opinion your impression about the meaning of the song is right. The male voice is Troy Donockley, the multi-instrumentalist and backvocals singer of Nightwish. He also plays the whistle at the end of the song. And yes, Floor looks beautiful not hiding her age; she is a handsome woman and will always be. There are too many women who use tons of make-up to hide their wrinkles etc. and look really unnatural, even ugly by doing so. If you like "soft" Nightwish you should give "Sleeping Sun" (live 2016) ua-cam.com/video/pVPTUEW1PEM/v-deo.html a try. Or the acoustic version of "How's the heart" ua-cam.com/video/yYtkPpFYzOo/v-deo.html (only Floor and Troy).
You asked some music suggestion outside Nightwish. I don't go too far, how about the 'home base' of Kai and Jukka, Wintersun. Tuomas is The Metal Mozart, but Jari Mäenpää, the mastermind behind Wintersun, is The Metal Vivaldi. You should start Your journey with Sonic Pump Studios live reheasal tracks 'Time', 'Sons of Winter and Stars' and 'Land of Snow and Sorrow', all these from the album 'Time I'. YT channel is 'Wintersun Jari'. After these You can find all the tracks of the latest album 'Time II' as lyric videos, same as older material from albums 'Wintersun' and 'Forest Seasons'.
Your analysis is spot on! The movie scenes in the background are to support that feeling of times that are not long ago but seem to be from another world. Some shots show her with two faces, one looking back like the god Janus (?) "I am the secret stream": DNA, coming back in more songs on this album, like "perfume of the timeless" that you reacted recently to: "Something from the earth came Something for the world Mosaic of broken fragile pieces Tesserae of the deceased Born to another world". About (part of) the movie scenes in the background: I recognized pope Leo XIII and wiki is saying: "Leo XIII, who was born in 1810 and was thus 86 years old in 1896, is considered the earliest-born person ever to be captured on film. The images of him are well-known, and recently were enhanced and colorized on-line.” ua-cam.com/video/3IVQ-1t92hA/v-deo.htmlsi=hXFM4fDfXhhyaWan
You can never have too much Nightwish! However, if you are looking for new bands to try, I'd like to suggest a couple. Blackbriar (Dutch female-fronted gothic metal, specialising in "fractured fairytales"): try one of _The_ _Seance,_ _Arms_ _of_ _the_ _Ocean,_ or _My_ _Soul's_ _Demise_ (all music videos). The Warning (Mexican hard rock trio of three sisters): try _Evolve_ at the VMAs or _Dust_ _to_ _Dust/Dull_ _Knives_ from Pepsi Center CDMX (both live). Enjoy!
I would like to introduce you to another great female band from Japan. Their name is Lovebites and they play metal and hard rock. The song that you should react to first because of your profession is "Edge of The World" ua-cam.com/video/jQKf8Dy_chA/v-deo.html or "Frozen Serenade" ua-cam.com/video/Ae8pQVu-RN8/v-deo.html
" Filtered " is the word your looking for .
Floor embraces her natural beauty .
Floor is comfortable in her own skin. She is a successful musician, wife, mother and ages in beauty
Her face, adored by "just" her inner beauty, is more than "good enough"...
I've been a fan of Floor for over 25 years. Her skills and personality are unmatched. I've seen her live and met her. She's such a beautiful human being inside and out. So powerful, yet so humble. Lovely reaction. God bless you 🙏

you're right. Her face is pure and shows traces of life. Something that is unfortunately often camouflaged in others.
Excellent reaction! You got the message right away! Oh, this song makes me so emotional every single time I hear it. So beautiful!

Emotions should not be kept a secret, wear and show them with pride. It only shows that we are humans.

Epica "Rivers", and Within Temptations song with Anneka Van Giersbergan "Somewhere" are wonderful songs with similar moods.

Yes, they are atheists or agnostics (as l am). But the white dressed clergyman in the end of the "Kodak" is the pope Leo XIII. Why?
