OK Shawna I'm gonna attempt this design. I thought of doing it in the travel niche which is my best selling designs. But I recently got a best seller on one of my dog lovers shirts - so I'm thinking I'm gonna try this for dog or maybe even horse abcs - that might be fun! Of course you know me, I'll let you know how it works out! FYI - my Etsy shop is bringing in over 500 orders a month - which I think is good for just into my second year. Just like you it took me 6 months to get my first 100. It's now a year since that 1st 100 and I have about 4000 sales! Believe me, I learned a ton of that from you! Thank you again for all you do!! You're an awesome teacher!!!
The weird part is I lived during Y2K and the current designs aren't what they were. The current concept of Y2K is idealized and it looks nothing like what it was. I get that people designs vary but the current "Y2K" is a mess up of the 80's and the 90's more so than Y2k fashion. Just my observations.
LOL! It is true! While doing research on this I heard someone speak to that... how the reemergence of nostalgic eras like this often have there own life and new spins within them! Also... I think that is why I was so confused for so long about Y2K designs... I was like "but isn't this just 80s and 90s?!?"
Same. I was even a designer literally in y2k and much of current stuff is not it. Some of the samples that are more spacey are y2k, but some are 90s really. but think about if you are 20 years old anything from the 60s to y2k could be called that era. All the stuff that was listed as 90s in the last year like vintage holiday etc, groovy, etc, were technically even designs from the 30s-70s. I study vintage design and been a designer since late 90s. I’m just used to the miscategorization now and just tag things what a 20 year old would call it even if it’s not accurate. 😅

Hey Rileigh! I really use GoDaddy Studios and Kittl ALOT! A toss up for which one I use more. I love that designing on my phone is so easy with GoDaddy but some of the features like shaped text are so good with Kittl! I need to use Canva more! I know there is a ton it can do too!

Shawna - question for you. I'm fairly new to Etsy and I want to better understand why I often see that other sellers put up listings that have a ton of different products in them (baby bodysuits, youth tees, youth sweatshirts, adult unisex tees, long sleeve shirts, adult unisex hoodies etc...). Can you help me understand that strategy? Should every listing have every product you sell? If you do that, should you also copy each listing and create a version that markets specifically to on product or audience (toddler vs youth vs adult) or are they only every marketing one listing and people just happen to see the design and choose to buy it as a baby onesie? I'm confused about the strategy on including all these different products but then not marketing to those audiences?
Baby bodysuits are cheaper so clients see the cheapest product price and then click the product. They're going to see the actual price of adult shirts and hoodies then though

Hey there! I only did a super Duper quick check on uspto.gov so I may have missed something, but I only saw Y2K as being trademarked for audio and video recordings… not clothing.
@@shawnalynn2083 Actually, this is good information. I didn't realize that you could still use a phrase if it is trademarked as long as it's trademarked for a different purpose than you will use it for.

LOL! It really is! It is a parody of a popular logo... I would not put something like that in my shop! I got him that hoodie from Amazon... guess that seller is living on the edge! We actually originally used that hoody in a Tucker Tip on a video about trademarks! Good eye you have!
