Guys, as weird as it may sound, there were airplanes with special equipment on board used in oil exploration in the 70'. I read a book by a pilot doing those operations. But they used GA airplane, a King Air to collect seismic data by flying over an underground explosion. The company's name is Fairfield and it still exists today.
The Museum at Wright - Patterson is really a great place to visit. I was so lucky to have a conference there during my very brief stint as an ANG wing historian.
think of how quickly you could deliver Mover and Gonky's books witih a Su-27. bet those hardpoints could hold hundreds of books, give them the JDAM upgrade kit and put amazon out of business!
Lol that’s a cover story if I’ve ever seen one lol. Just like other military stuff being transported and exported to places as “farm equipment” lol. Anyway I can’t wait to eventually see the pilots talk about these aggressor programs once they’re declassified.
There used to be a Cold War Air Museum at KLNC on the south side of Dallas off of I45. L-29's and even had a couple of Mi-24's that were airworthy. They had a MiG-27 at one point but later sold it. It was a 501(3)(c) tax write off for someone who had the cash and wanted a creative way to import some former Belarusian relics from the Cold War. Cavanaugh Flight Museum out of KADS just closed their doors; very sad to see some of these aircraft go away. Lone Star Flight Museum is doing a great job out of KEFD resurrecting some former USMC CH-46's out of the boneyard and flying them back to Texas and keeping them in use.
I am starting a company manufacturing cargo mats for the backs of luxury SUV's out of recycled hotel lobby carpet. To ensure prompt delivery of product to customers, I am going to require 4x F-14D Tomcats in flightworthy condition. Where do I sign?
This reminds me of something I just learned about a week or two ago when me and my family went to the Smithsonian Air and space museum. TAt the museum they have a small Cessna like plane, you know the little single engine one’s, that was used by the Atomic Energy Commission to look for uranium deposits.
my family has a farm in Canada, my dad is a ret. CF-188 pilot. one of the first canadians trained on the hornet. in our farms tax history, there is a business expense for a ret. CF-5D. gotta check on the crops somehow.
Retired pilot and 4th generation Oklahoma oil & gas business here... The use of ground penetrating radar to explore the potential for subsurface mineral wealth is nothing new. Done it myself. But THAT airplane is NOT equipped for such mission. Period. The end.
Guys, that's one of the most hilarious story I've heard, thanks for sharing. I'd love to see you flying the Flanker, but aren't they using metric 😅 as they were born in Russia?
Hello investors! For my energy company you are investing in, I need a surplus Su-27 to help find oil. I also need a bass boat, a motorcycle, three houses in very "livable" places and a large annual salary and expense account to do this.
as navy bought actual soviet missiles kh31 to use them as target drones ma31 "simulating" soviet missiles, why not buy su57 for agressor squadron, Sukhoi would be happy to have customers with money
In other flanker news, Ukraine just announced the death of another one of their Su27 pilots and a mig29 pilot over new year. So yes, they probably want those flnakers.
“Until the last Ukrainian!!!” -Senator Lindsey Graham. Well, he’s getting his wish. Lindsey, that old RINO, should be tried for crimes against humanity. But his donors wanted the war.
Hey, the airframe doesn't really care whats in the pod, as long as it fits the connections and aerodynamic requirements. I mean, as long as you can find or install an appropriate data bus, you could take the largest external tank they make for that bird and install whatever you like inside. 😂
Saints flanker an' wide out, CW Weedley to his agent: 'Bro' gimme a new contrac'..I's suited n' booted an suckas gots me ou' her' lookin' fer' earl..thas' cereally messed up..ya' feelin' me large on dis'?
The SU 27 carried a 5th Gen Dino Juice Detector. Moving at the speed of business.😊

i dont think you need flankers to do that😭
@@ChadCarney-hu3du You do if you want to have more fun doing it😂
"Owning a Supermaneuverable Fighter Aircraft for Home Defense"
Just as the Military Industrial Complex intended.
I really need an emotional support Gripen.
"I need a flanker to buy groceries".
The Museum at Wright - Patterson is really a great place to visit. I was so lucky to have a conference there during my very brief stint as an ANG wing historian.
Shell company used by C I A to acquire the Flankers without raising suspicions. 😅😅😅

Flankers used more Gas, than they were able to find xDDD

What would see next? F-35s used for cropdusting?
That’s no oil sniffer; that’s a Kerosene Converter.

Yeah a fighter jet is surely the best option if you "want" something that you need to operate economically for long periods of time lol.
"Let's think bigger. Let's buy SU-57s." 😂
4 flankers kinda makes sense, though. What's their availability rate? How many flankers do you need to ensure one of mission ready 50% of the time?
probably like 12

In the mother Russia...you don't search for oil....it comes flying to you.....💀💀
Perhaps they were going for a SAR pod. Other geophysics methods that I recall are not suitable for fast flying planes.
The more the article explains,
more suspicious everything sounds.
I mean... if you're gonna buy Flankers why not also buy a Foxbat or two?
Because you'd have to maintain it. Those things burn through engines fast.

Hmm, who was your father? Very curious I very likely know him personally if he was one of the first Hornet babies up here.

Step 1: Acquire Flankers
Step 2:
Step 3: Profit
I’m getting Hughes Glomar Explorer vibes from this story…
Swiss Army Knife? Naw!
Russian Air Force Multitool? Awe yeah!
Surprised the article didn’t mention losing money due to running on fumes or running out of gas. I imagine it would’ve gone quicker buying a MIG-31.
Can we say "front company"?
It’s not oil the Flanker is looking for. It is geological formations that fit the proper landfill requirements for expended Tesla batteries disposal.
Guys, that's one of the most hilarious story I've heard, thanks for sharing.
I'd love to see you flying the Flanker, but aren't they using metric 😅 as they were born in Russia?
Not only metric, they have their own alphabet.
Well, that's just unAmerican.
@@mikek9297 you're right I've forgot the worse part 😅
They just drop flares and see if anything burns.
Buys 2 Su 27's Investors " Bold strategy Cotton let's see how it works out." Oh wait
It is the new ATFLIR pod...it is called ATFLIR-II/O&G
As your CPA, I can make it happen....

They operated for a time out of groom lake.
One crashed and well the other one is there at the museum.
Is it possible they had a magnetic anomaly device? like ASW P-3 Orions had to find subs? Could that be used to find oil?🤔⛽
Isn't finding oil America's job ?
Slick story
This Flanker story has got to be some troll using AI to troll better. The problem is humans are teaching our future robot overlords how to lie better.
The newest divining rod finds oil. 😂
Things that make you go hmmmm
Fly low and supersonic over in ground sensors and that is how you find oil and gas with an SU-27. Sonic boom ping. Amirite?!
Heatblur is going to need a new jet to model after the F4
Eurofighter is next in the queue after the Phantom
For when you need to find oil in a hurry.
Why stop at a flanker when you can buy a foxbat
why do I think the guy who cooked this up went to prison for fraud?...
There have been a number of companies who were formed for some commercial venture but in reality worked for alphabet agencies..

Sounds like a cia shell company tbh

Remote Sensing is a thing...🤨
Ground penetrating radar? On SU 27 ? 😆
