I never knew you could break walls with the bomb, always assumed it was for enemies. I spent most of my time looking for those secret items that pop in when you jump in certain places because I thought the mask was so cool. Also, I always thought that fall animation looked like he's putting his hands against his cheeks (Home Alone style) as if to say, "Oh no! I'm falling!" Also, also, I learned from this that real men swim by kicking one leg, no arm movement.
Played this all the time as a kid. It's funny to watch a speed run because you find out that you don't have to kill like 90% of the stuff on the screen. I think that's what kept me from finishing it, back when.
I too have fond memories of playing this game WAY back in the day! :) Fun Fact: The original uncut version of the game actually had cut scenes and a MUCH better ending. I was so disappointed with the ending as a kid but now I know that U.S. censorship is why it was so lame. Shame on you, Nintendo! In any case, thanks for sharing and a beautiful run, Arcus!
The arcade for this was at an old convenience store near my house (remember when convenience stores had arcades?), but I owned the NES cartridge as well. I don't think I ever made it past the fourth or fifth level. This game kind of freaked me out; the art is kind of "scary" for a kid and the various sound effects are kind of jarring, too.
I loved this game! My best friend was watching me play one day and somehow figured out if you hit A and B at the same time on the 2nd controller it would instantly kill Karnov. Of course she didn't tell me right away and would kill me in the weirdest spots. I was convinced that the game was glitchy and was getting so pissed off to the point that I almost threw my controller though the tv screen. She eventually told me and we all got a good laugh about it.
I never got that far on this game, maybe level 2 or 3. After I died a few times I'd switch to something I was good at like Shadow of the Ninja, Skate or Die, Contra, or Ninja Gaiden.
I've had this game for years, I think the fourth stage is the farthest I've ever got. I'm pretty bad at this game. Cool to see it finished. The end screen is disappointing though, lol.
Loved to play this as a child. Cool to see it finished
This is a great game. Shocking to watch you steam through it like it is not difficult. Kudos Arcus.
Power-walking Karnov
Very nice.
I was always curious about this game. It's main character has a habit of making cameos in other games out of left field.
I had this as a kid and loved it. One of the very few NES games I've actually finished.
Wow you actually finished it!!?? Respect to you sir.
@@michaeldorsey1394I beat it a few times too. First time I saw the ending, lol
Karnov is a classic for obvious reasons, the soundtrack alone is top tier.
😂
I’m especially fond of the third stage track. But, honestly, you can’t wrong with any of them.
@@jpdunphy1 oh yes, ha ha, the soundtrack gets stuck in your head long after you're done playing.
I like how there's hints of the game and soundtrack in Bad Dudes.
Also the death jingle is up there with Rygar, haha!

I thought he went into merman form in the water 😅
Fun fact: Karnov is the first stage boss in bad dudes (nes)
And a boss in the Fighter's History games.
Forgot about this gem, just unlocked many memories
Aaaaaand Clunk
I watched this when you first posted it, but I love this game. I used to play this through at least once a month.
This is awesome keep up the good work!
Unreal athlete
Well done for your PB Arcus!
Never heard about this game before. Looks and feels pretty good! GG
I got this game back in the day on my birthday on a cold NY night at Caldor department store.
NOVEMBER12TH...ESSENCECOMPLETED...
when you hit the boss the sound reminds me of dial internet when you log on
Great game big guy. Fun to watch and entertaining for sure
“And klunk” - Arcus 🤠 👢 👢
Amazing work!
This game is still so weird.
As a kid I guess I never noticed it played the same music over and over.

Best 8bit soundtrack of all time! 🔥
Love the whole look. Keep rocking keep rolling 😎
First saw the arcade version at Fuddruckers when I was a kid. I always liked this one + he cameo'd in Bad Dudes 👍
Ahh, Fudd's... I'd always get a ½lb and a mooey gooey. Good times.
The NES version leaves out the whole treasure map aspect of the arcade version.
Awesome run! This is a game that is better on NES than the arcade version.
Gotta disagree there...
Some great "and... clunk!" harmonics there. And a great game.
the way you defeat the bosses crack me up every time
I forgot about this game! Nice!
nice and good gob , rally I like your voice when you play . . .
thank you bro
Loved this game
The music in this game has haunted me since childhood.
Please send help. Great vid!
Hell yeah!

That bird looks like Mr. Burns 😂😂😂

I loved this game as a kid in the 80s
God the moustache just keep getting more majestic.
Willing to bet that moustache itself plays games better than most people
Loved this game when I was a kid. Don’t think I ever made it past the second level though 😅
Very cool
Man this was legit almost the first game I ever rented for my Nintendo. I think maybe I got to the second boss…
That was a good Karnov.
What a strange and mystic game
You are a legend lol
Cool to see Shantae's father getting some love
gg
I come for the sound effects
The vertical falling is so slow, there must be a time save from avoiding jumping or gaining height in some areas.
Idk who I luv more; Kornov or Arcus 🥹
👏Bravo another PB sandwich...
I finished this game. Super weird and cool. Nice to see Soviet mythology for a change .
That thunder is from Werewolf The Last Warrior
Mash mash mash is all this game.
I was waiting for the ballooooooooon!!! Air drop but didn’t saw it.
Still I liked the video.
I dont think I ever beaten first level before turning it off, as a kid AND adult. Never knew he could fly and swim.
Gotta love a man who knows his clunks!!!
CLUNK!
loved this game as a kid. it's legit good, you young ones should play it.
You're a cool dude.
One of my favorite NES games. Looks like a cheap Mario clone, but there's so many secrets and tricks to do.
Mario clone??
Heya Arcus. If I don't get to do it later, just wanted to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
This game used to give me nightmares as a yout for some reason lol
Wow, you do some "deep cuts." I never even heard of this one.
as a kid, this game seemed so intimidating
wow, that ending would have pissed me off
BALOOONNN
I never got that far on this game, maybe level 2 or 3. After I died a few times I'd switch to something I was good at like Shadow of the Ninja, Skate or Die, Contra, or Ninja Gaiden.
Gg
Had this weird game as a kid. Could never beat it.
Wow dude. Could they have at least made 2 sound tracks for this game? How did you not lose your mind playing this?
Noice
I like my klonks fast and melodic 🤠 🎶
so basically Karnov is the NES/Russian version of Krato. LOL
I've had this game for years, I think the fourth stage is the farthest I've ever got. I'm pretty bad at this game. Cool to see it finished. The end screen is disappointing though, lol.
Klunk
Is he saying clunk or clock?
Clunk. It's the sound made by the timer pedal. for the speedrun application.
@@randy7894 thank you
hey, you should try doing pacifist runs: it`s where you kill as little enemies as possible
you couldnt make a game like this these days, what with all the k's
Play The Wrath Of Black Manta...
pin stripe shirt, the mustache and the crumpled up sombrero.... you couldn't create someone i hated more if you tried.
lol
And klonk!
KLONK
Imagine paying $60 back in the 80s to play a game beating it in less than 10 minutes. 😂
This game is horrible! Props to you for have the balls to play it!
Karnov sucks. My cousin had this game growing up, I hated it then and I hate it now!
I have fond Majorie’s of hating this game.
Hey arckus do you have a boyfriend
shashshmash, or how ir write
good clunk
I remember back in high school I beat this game and was like what. very easy and gay ass ending.
