Jeremy Kyle clashes with union boss as more train strikes loom

  • The biggest rail workers’ union has announced two further strikes this summer in the worsening dispute over jobs, pay and conditions.
Members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union (RMT) at Network Rail and 14 train operators will walk out on August 18 and 20.
The union previously announced a strike for July 27, the day before the Commonwealth Games opens in Birmingham.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “The rail industry and the Government need to understand that this dispute will not simply vanish.
“They need to get serious about providing an offer on pay which helps deal with the cost-of-living crisis, job security for our members and provides good conditions at work.
“Recent proposals from Network Rail fell well short on pay and on safety around maintenance work.
“And the train operating companies have not even made us a pay offer in recent negotiations.
“Now Grant Shapps (Transport Secretary) has abandoned his forlorn hopes for the job of prime minister, he can now get back to his day job and help sort this mess out.

    Paid too much!!!
Time and time again we hear that argument, but let me ask you this, and just put yourself in a Train Drivers shoes for one moment.
Imagine what's it like when you get an emergency call, as someone had collapsed on your tarin and you cannot do anything to save them.
Imagine what's it like when you come around a corner, at 90 mph, and a tree is down in front of you, and a collision cannot be avoided.
Imagine what's it like when kids run across the tracks in front of you, and you prey they get out of the way in time.
Finally, and by far the worse, Imagine what's it like when someone jumps in front of your train, and looks you directly in the eye as you hit them.
It is not only the Drivers that suffer when these incidents happen, our families have to deal with the fallout also.
Trying to free yourself from the guilt of someone killing themself in front of your train is easier said than done.
Then, you may have to attend an inquest and go through it all again.
There is a saying on the Railway, and that is , you earn your money when it goes wrong. How true that is.
