why is that too low? were talking about a tier 2 league. The salaries should be as high as a team can sustain itself and in Leagues past ever since franchising, salaries have simply been way too high.
It's without counting in the gaming house and the food provided, that's money they get (pre tax) but they do not have daily expenditures. That is a very healthy amount and highly sought after considering other ERL's that are at the same level as LFL on paper but obviously way lower in terms of player skill/quality (while also having the same 1 EUM spot) have none of that and pay their players 500/month. The only people this negatively affects is Tier1 retirees, players that have already played in the big leagues and are kept as subs or simply imported into the ERL to make the rosters stronger, but in reality if the ERLs are meant as academy/development and to prepare the next generation of Tier1 players having these salary caps make perfect sense. Going from 500 a month to 2.5k a month + benefits is a dream scenario for up and comers. The most dominant org in LFL has been Kcorp and if you look at their roster they have players with 5+ years in Tier1, you think Cabochard was in tier2 for a few years to develop his skills and prep himself for the big stage after being there for half a decade beforehand? That's the type of player that this change might hurt, but that's also not the correct use case for the Tier2 as a whole.
@@TelManothHexperax 50k/year is actually not bad if you dont have to pay for housing and daily necessities. if you factor that in then they are far closer to 70k/y which is by far not a bad salary. There are plenty of jobs that pay WAY less... If we take football as a a reference then the LFL (french national league) or Prime league (german national league) is comparable to 3rd league in football, with the difference that none of the teams can fight for ascension into first league. if you think about the fact that none of the teams is generating money by themselves but are funded entirely by sponsoring and investment deals then it becomes pretty self explanatory. Personally as a german i can only confidently tell you the names of 2 teams in the Primeleague even though i am very interested in lol esports. 1 of them left the prime league completely this year bc of budget reasons and the other one is changing their general course of teh organisation from an entirely esports centered focus with entertainment on the side to a more entertainment centered focus with esports on the side since they can't pay for it otherwise.
How do orgs make money? They dont get anything from skins, they sell some merch but thats not going to cover much, its only sponsorships that help, RIOT need to sell org skins or something to help with profits or something that allows orgs to make money, these orgs BURN through cash and hold so much debt.
I have no clue how tier2 gamer guys who provide outstanding entertainment value for masses, can survive with 25k a year, thats borderline poverty level :(:( streaming may be overpaid, but it is paid by people, who like the player and want to voluntarely support him.

salary cap is good but 250 k / y for 5 player is cleary too low ...

250k / y for LFL is still insane. Where do you think the money comes from???
Its barely 50k /y by player ... at top !
