This is dumb st pete is apart of the tampa bay metroplex. Its not like the team moved to orlando and they are still calling them the tampa bay rays. This would be like calling the San Francisco 49ers the Santa Clara 49ers because they play in Santa Clara.
❤ change name to St. Pete Devil Rays. In the first place they should have been named after the actual city they live in and secondly, the original devil rays name should have never been changed imo. St.pete better come through with their big money proposal because the team has kind of been held hostage by them! There is nothing keeping the owner to sell the team to another investor in another state. If you don't fill the stadium up maybe it's time to let go of them. The players feel the impact everyday of low fan support! We were in playoffs this year and attendance was the laughing stock of the media! Maybe Alabama deserves to have a professional baseball team for a chance. I bet they would fair much better with fan support!
Keep the name. It ties to the bucs and lightning. That alone is worth millions.

Tampa is the city but tampa bay is the region as a whole.
Tampa Bay is the location of the area that encompasses the whole region not just the city of Tampa.
