Gotta love when a quick project takes an unexpected turn. It seems like the aftermarket carburetors are hit or miss - some work better than new, while others don't even work at all.
I know right? At least I have two carbs to try. I have a feeling a big part of the issue is the cracked manifold which opened up a hole that would be equivalent to a pretty bad vacuum leak.

Yeah they don’t seem to have been widely used at the time. Believe it or not there are variations still made today such as the FD750D.
