Tim Ferriss discusses his daily routine, which varies depending on his location and activities. In Austin, his morning ritual includes cold immersion, feeding his dog, a cold plunge followed by a hot tub session, and some basic journaling. He emphasizes the importance of starting the day with a positive state of mind to set the tone for productivity. Ferriss also highlights the significance of having uninterrupted blocks of time for high-leverage tasks, prioritizing these over the exact structure of his daily routine. He schedules specific times for training, writing, and recording, while reserving Tuesdays for busy work such as team calls and email processing. Ferriss acknowledges that not all tasks are enjoyable but sees them as part of the cost of doing business. Ultimately, he values flexibility and crafting his own narrative in his work.

All the comments getting mad they have to work and cant do a cold plunge are hilarious.
Guess what, you dont have to do cold plunge or anything he does. The point is to build your own morning routine that suits your life to set you up better for the day ahead.
The victim mentality in this society is deeply ingrained in a lot of people.

Oh man, I'm the wrong audience cuz where's the routine for realistic people who have 9-5's with children they have to get to school and stuff and don't have access to something like a cold plunge... like what percent of people can actually access that on a regular basis? Even cost aside if you were to fill Barrell at home in your backyard, the time it rakes all that.. please share a normal average healthy routine vs an elite athlete or entrepreneur who has the wealth and privilege of such time flexibility & access. Liked can a face plunge suffice? Idk just... this feels tone deaf and I hope to see more inclusive recommendations ♥️

      I have that problem too.
My answer, I do a morning routing when I can.
      Which is pretty often.
I get up between 3:30 and 4 am and drag myself into the bathroom.
(I have a back injury and cannot walk most mornings.)
Lay down in my tub and turn on the cold water.
My cold plunge is gonna be about 60F in Florida.
Cold enough to wake you up.
Then I turn on the hot water and warm up.
Then I turn the cold water off.
      Then I have a poor man's sauna.
I usually do that for about an hour to loosen up my back.
Then I take some medicine and some vitamins, put on clothes, and I'm on my way.
      Helping the family get ready.
      Then on to work.
I typically go to bed around 8pm.
Sometimes later because I don't really need a lot of sleep.

2 kids, dog and a job here. My morning routine: wake up at 5, walk the dog for 30 minutes. No phone, podcast or music. Just me and the dog and my thoughts. Gym from 6-7. Prep kids from 7-8. Get kids to school and me to work by 830ish. I prep breakfasts the night before. For me that's just dicing up some veggies I throw in a pan and crack 4 eggs in to. Mornings are definitely busy. No time for journaling, hot/cold etc. But I try to think of my dog walk as medatative/reflective/self check in time, and going to the gym first thing is sooooo key. It's like the one time of the day I do something just for me. When I get home it's dinner prep, family time, clean up and prep for the next day. Its busy and the main regret is that I don't have that downtime to have really deep, high level thoughts/planning time. On the other hand, this phase of having young kids is just that, a phase. At some point, they'll be making their own breakfast, not needing help changing etc and I will get more of that time back. For now, I just know that for another 5-7 years mornings will be busy and I'll do the best I can to stay in shape, cut myself some slack and learn from my mistakes when I fall short, and raise the best kids possible.

Honestly, what kind of sociopath wakes up, jumps into a cold plunge then into a hot tub? Wake up (when the kids wake you up), have a cup of tea and get on with your life.
On a serious note this shit is for people who talk a lot about how busy they are, but aren’t actually that busy.

    • @Artem-gg6bq
      @Artem-gg6bq 2 місяці тому +1

Can understand where you come from. There's also a difference between most people's 9-5's where they are busy because they are obliged to be somewhere at a certain time that doesn't allow for lots of morning shenanigans. In the case of someone who's busy but plans everything when it suits him/her and who's already wealthy enough it can be beneficial add some health protocols to your day that someone else may find sociopathic. Noticed it myself when I left my own job for a carreer where I decide more of what I do with my time but still work 8-12h a day

Yeah and you’re right in the sense that 99% of people don’t have time or even access to a cold plunge/hot tub and the likes (including myself) but you can take bits of valuable information to try and implement and see if it works. Whether that be having a cold shower instead of hot to try and replicate the benefits of the cold plunge

I wake up at 4am, have a similar routine, drive an hour to work and work 10 hours doing construction 5-6 days a week. If you stop spending 3 hours a day watching tv or scrolling content on your phone it gives you 3 hours a day that could be transferred to this. Every person that sees this as unrealistic almost certainly spends several hours or more per day staring at their phone, or watching tv. Wake up earlier, take care of your kids needs, do your workout, goto work, and throw your tv in the garbage. Goto sleep early, repeat

Hey, I'm a fan but I find it frustrating there was no pushback to his nonsense. Am I really to believe I should have the time to... Take an ice bath... mull about for an hour... journal... somehow offload decisions if my plate is too full... perfect skiing techniques... Gym training right before lunch.... Only focus on a single task. This is not advice, it's unrealistic idiocy...

That has always been my main criticism of Tim Ferris. His routines are so ridiculous, and he kind of made himself by selling "you can do this too" or "this is how I optimized my life for success" which isn't really applicable to 99% of people. But, you can scale what he does. I don't own a cold plunge. But I have a shower that I can blast on cold for 2 minutes and get by blood pumping, then to hot for 2 minutes. That will give you most of the benefits of his routine without spending anything. It is literally impossible to do that in shower for 4 minutes then hop out and not feel like you just mainlined adrenaline in to your blood stream. So while his routines are totally out of touch for most, there are nuggets or best practices you can still do at home and get a lot of benefit from. Just some food for thought.
