I've ALWAYS loved this lightsaber duel as a kid. It was the FIRST lightsaber duel that was ever to be put on UA-cam in my opinion, and it's one of my FAVORITES! This is a youtube classic guys, you will enjoy it! :D
16 years later and this is still the best lightsaber duel on UA-cam. Great job Ryan, Brandon, Dorkman, and everyone else who works on these. I will always be waiting patiently for a new duel. May the force be with you all.
I remember watching Ryan VS Dorkman for the first time years ago with my cousin. He asked me who I thought would win, and I said the guy in the blue shirt. I couldn't have been more wrong.
Fun fact, this video actually predates the coining of that name, Trakata*. The RPG that coined that name actually was only released shortly before I made this comment. It's also a wild experience to have someone reply to your youtube comment 15 years later.
Wow, you replied to a reply 15 later. I’ve been on UA-cam since 2007, but my old account got banned, so this one is from 2016. The best I can have is 8 years right now.
Your films are a major inspiration for my entire career on youtube and will always respect you’re ambition. Travis , Ryan, dork man, Brandon, all of you are so big and responsible for the pillars of early youtube! Thank you so much
I finally found it. I remembered this video out of the blue about a week ago and have spent hours trying to navigate youtube's algorithm to find it. This is good shit right here.
Ryan, big fan since Dorkman1. Not only do I hope they hire you as the main duel choreographer for all future Star Wars movies (especially 7) I hope they let you be in the movie in a battle as well. Cameo's by Brandon and Dorkman too!

Nerds rule!! you guys are awesome, it mustve been so hard to piece together all that perfectly, like fighting with just an unreleased lightsaber but then edited it all to make it work! I'm eternally grateful, you guys opened a whole new world
The rotoscoping technique this team used shows incredible attention to detail. Way better than current day light saber battles. The camera work is amazing as well. I saw this when it came out and it is still impressive in 2024.
Definitely one of the first ever UA-cam videos I watched for sure. This was amazing as a kid back in the day, it's a long time aspiration of mine to make something like this one day.
This was first youtube video I watched like back in 2007-2008, I was like 7-8 years old at the time and we would watch this and similar videos all the time with our friends from youtube. We always found these by accident since we live in Europe and didnt speak english at all, but still we always found these
During the battle in Ryan vs. Dorkman 1, that Ryan with the blue shirt was another clone. In the very end when the other Ryan came and stabs Dorkman, he was the original Ryan, I'm assuming!
Forget about the effects...how do you choreograph something like this?! Great job, love these homemade sword/saber/lightsaber duels, better than the "real" thing!
@Brandon Flyte When will we see an HD remaster of my favorite battle? I first watched it 12 years ago... are you guys old and tired now too? "You were right about one thing, Master. The negotiations *were* short."
It’s embarrassing that two guys on a budget can produce a waaaay better choreographed lightsaber duel than a multi-billion dollar media conglomerate with limitless resources and plenty of source material to draw from.
I think an idea for the next great video you guys could do, would be a team-up: Brandon and Dorkman against a few of the Ryan clones. That would make for an epic video. Though I really do enjoy the videos you guys already have out, and think you all did a truly excellent job on all this. They're hands down the best lightsaber videos I've ever seen, outside of the Star Wars movies themselves.
A superb fight. Fast paced action, well choreographed, nice effects, excellant camera angles. This Video is second only to the RVD Series. Ironically enough, both actors in this vid contributed to the production of the RVD series. -5 Stars
Jesus christ! That was really good! Brandon was from the beginning the badass one:D The style of grip and work with legs, seemed much more confident from the very beginning...truly amazing
I remember I downloaded this during a lightsaber duel contest back before it had the lightsaber visual and sound effects. I pooed myself in awe of it then. And I think I just pooed myself in awe again. Awesome.
@ChipNick87 No the song at the credits was battle of the heroes. The song that plays during the fight is called "From Below V2" and it is from Unreal Tournament.
When will Ryan Vs. Brandon 2 will hit the youtube? I've seen some of it uploaded by other users here but it just cut off right before the fight finished... You guys are really good!!! Stay tuned for RvB 2!!!
Lightsabers can do that. Brandon's lightsaber always got cut off in the videos by Ryan's saber staff. That's like one of the common battle routines that Ryan and Brandon have. Brandon always steals one of Ryan's half blades, too. :)
Actually three: Ryan Wieber, who appears in all three films, Mike "Dorkman" Scott, who appears in the RvD's and served 'pickup action reference' on this film, and Brandon Flyte, who appears here and worked behind the scenes on both RvD's. You don't actually see Dorkman on screen here (or Brandon on the RvD's), but all three were involved in all three films.
I like this lightsaber fight a lot, I've saved this to my favorites a long with RVDM. This fight reminds me of the fight betweent anakin and obiwan in rots, except obiwan looks like he may have given in to the darkside on this fanvid! I would really like to see ryan survive more of his fights though. -- Blackrose
Bruh I remember watching this because my brothers name was Brandon and he searched up Brandon vs the friend that was in the room and we watched the fuck outta this. The good old days
Lol a remake from blind wave would be hilariously awesome! Since they're older they can goof off and do moves from a new hope but with flare lol. Love you guys. Didn't know you guys were the same guys i later watched all of covid till i saw this video. You guys are great
@Crazzee4lyfe They're using customized ones made from pipes that have metal blades. They can extend and everything with controls in the handle. I've seen some footage of them practicing that hasn't been rotoscoped yet; it's pretty cool.
@raysetiger285 its because lightsabers have a death switch, a sensor that deactivates the lightsaber when it detects that no one is holding it. Most lightsabers had a switch on them, allowing the user to disable the death switch, making lightsaber throws and such possible
well...i only have to say....cool vide and such kind of practice tey would have to fight as they fighted whit the lightsabers....just 1 thing.....i want to know......what video program did they used...
Very nicely choreographed. Question on the double saber though: That looks like a very small connection between the two hilts. How sturdy is it? Is that the Maul saber, or a custom job?
I don't do saber movies, but that sound effect is familiar... I think it was used when force-lightning was being absorbed by a lightsaber in Episode 2, maybe 3.
hey great job I liked it a lot, The next one you guys do make sure you guys go all out. Pull no punches. keep it up guys. I am looking forward to the next one.

18 years old and still one of the best saber fights the internet ever produced.
I've never seen this one. I've seen the two Ryan vs Dorkman vids back when they were made.
This deserves a HD Remake.
About that...

There is a second one, which is essentially that. Look up "Ryan vs Brandon 2".

Hahaha, I love the way Brandon fights. Turning off the saber, the way he flipped the saber when he got it from ryan. What a badass.
It’s called Trikata

Why they never hired you for the choreography in the prequels or the force awakens is besides me.
I think Ryan is in the VFX credits for The Force Awakens.

Brandon, you did an amazing job on RvB! I can't wait to see the finished RvB2! Great work!
Why is always ryan dying?
Ryan vs. Brandon 2 seems to imply that Ryan's been the villain all this time, so that might have something to do with it.
Colton Hunt Yeah, because of the clone shot, Brandon can never find the original Ryan!

the second part after the green lightsaber is destroyed is kinda what an alternate Anakin and Obi Wan fight would have been like.
