The new layout is EXTREMELY hard to use and makes everything complicated. The old layout was so much better and it wasn't confusing at all. Discord changed something that never needed fixing.
That's it. We don't need a combined layout, I liked the new layout(which was accessible by holding sparkles), but most people like the old one. They mixed them up and it got worse for everyone. As a user who likes new layout, I lost the new layout for server navigation.
I really don't understand the idea behind this update. I saw in the description that they were worried about the mobile app feeling like a downsized desktop, but for me that's the whole point of Discord mobile. It doesn't treat phones as less than computers like other apps. Very bizarre decision. Not out of step for them, though, sadly
this is exactly why i LIKED discord and chose it as my main messenger. i liked how the experience didn't differ insanely between phone & pc . but they tore that feature away!
They are trying to steer away from that. The desktop app is too complicated for people that have never used it. Those are the people they are targeting though, because they want to gain greater mainstream appeal. Discord used all of us loyal users as a stepping stone in their efforts to become the next Telegram/WhatsApp/Facebook Messenger.

LISTEN TO YOUR COMMENTS. The overwhelming majority of your users hate this new UI. The old UI worked wonderfully because it's layout reflected and emphasized discords core functions- and was essentially tailor made for it (albeit, adapted a little for mobile.) The new layout is a mimicry and reflection of other social Media platforms, and doesn't complement discord in the least bit. These updates have been in Beta for what, 7 months now? And after all this time- there has NEVER been an outpour of praise for the new layout. Some of the new features, sure. But there has only been an absolute CASCADE of irritation for the new layout. DONT LISTEN to the people you hired from Meta, and other platforms, the design philosophies for those apps absolutely do not translate well Into adapting discords core features I get that you guys have sank a lot of time, effort, and funding into making this update- but this is one of the situations where you NEED to just eat the cost of it's development and just Go Back. You're going to alienate the ever-loving hell out of your millions of users in the pursuit of probably only gaining a few hundred thousand. It's not worth it. Those few hundred thousand are always going to primarily use those other apps that you're trying to emulate because that's where all of their friends are, they're not going to migrate and make discord their main social hub. My friends and I actually took the time to scroll through this comment section, reddit, and other places talking about this update. And I'm not exaggerating when I say this. For every one positive comment about the UI change. THERE ARE A 100 NEGATIVE COMMETNS against it. (not exact numbers but it is genuinely really close.) So listen to your active users that have been with you for so very long. We love discord because of it's functionality and how it pairs so well with our activities in gaming and online spaces. It's previous layout and user experience was perfectly suited to the task, and adapting other social medial platforms user interface shows just how horrendous something can be when adapting something that doesn't have any inherent compatibility.
Yeah! I just literally opened the new discord app this morning like a few minutes ago and I definitely..like the old one alot better. So I completely agree with this!
Dear discord, we'd appreciate it if you bring the old discord back. Everything got harder. LAGGIER, everything got worse. now you made discord look like every messaging app you'll ever see. change it back I'm not gonna get used to this update.
PLEASE add an option where you can go back go the old layout if you wish! I really don't like how the new update is organized- and many others do as well. There's really no point to the update in my opinion. Either switch back, or let people go back to what they've always enjoyed, I really think that so many people would be happier this way

The point is to make Discord another cookie cutter messaging app and to remove any charm it had. Like seriously, they did this before with the removal of tags and making everyone have to have a unique username, and now they are doing it with the layout.

Honestly, a few days before this update, I was mentioning how even though there's a new UI layout on mobile, Discord hasn't really forced anyone to switch to it, and that's actually quite nice of them. *I take it all back.*

Discord is the number one company at dishing out pointless updates that nobody asked for. Every pointless change made in the past two years has slowly made the platform worse.
A story as old as time itself. A social media platform, seemingly different and more practical than the rest, which starts with its creators and executives listening to and engaging with the user base, out of sudden transforms into another soulless corporate product that is no different from the rest. It happened with Facebook, it happened with UA-cam, it happened with Twitter, how did you not see it coming this time for Discord?
The most insulting fact is that the only option resembling a way to go back to the old UI is a setting called "classic chat text size" that makes the text *slightly* smaller
There should be a feature to toggle between the old and new layout because the new layout feels really clunky. And the option to choose the previous dark mode should also be accessible as well because it feels too dark now, to where it actually hurts my eyes kinda

As someone who has used a lot of gaming based messaging platforms over the years (teamspeak, vent, mumble, curse, skype) I can happily say discord is by far the best like, across the board as to not even be close. Thats why its extra sad and baffling that such a unnecessarily warping update was pushed through by the devs. Really hope they don't keep doubling down on this and actually listen to their users.
Discord clearly stated “the old layout is no longer available”. Hopefully the dev who pushed this new update understands the amount of hate the new layout is getting. It’s not “oh we don’t like *change*”. Its, “the new layout is unintuitive, clunky, and everything has to have a sub menu for no reason”. Something as simple as the vc ui was changed. The advertise “with the new layout, now you can read the text vc without joining by swiping up”. We could do that with the old layout without needing to swipe up, it was always on the screen, easy to find, easy to tap, and did not interfere with the swipe up function of many phones.

The new update is inaccessible for those with astigmatism and can cause migraines. Additionally, this new update works poorly if you are using your mobile with one hand. All around a bad choice and it should be reverted back to the old layout and color scheme.
The new update doesn't make me any happier, nor does it feel in any way like an improvement. It's honestly made me just want to use the app less because of its abrupt change of core features. I don't want to "get used to" a lesser version. I cancelled my nitro as a small part of a larger financial incentive to actually get Discord to maintain the platform that their users want. It's really sad, we've liked Discord because we thought it was a place that was down to be really efficient and convenient instead of a fluffy corporate mess. So this really feels like a tone-deaf betrayal.

While the new UI may be visually appealing to some, the old navigation system outshines it. Navigating the new design seems like jumping through hoops, and overall, it lacks the intuitive feel of the previous system. Yes, the new features are welcomed, but removing easier ways to navigate the app makes them somewhat overshadowed by the frustration of the convoluted user experience in the updated interface
It's not even visually appealing, it's wasteful with space in ways the old UI handled far better, noisier for notifications, bad accessibility and completely disgusting to any neurodivergent user. There is no saving this update. It needs to be binned.

This just feels like Discord once again adding something that people didn't really ask for. Take the nitro changes, for example. It added new discord mobile icons for exclusive nitro users. Although it may have been cool cosmetics wise, it was just something extra that made people spend money. However, when it comes to UI and actual changes to the system itself, I feel like Discord inadvertently caused so much chaos within the community because most people were fine with the way Discord is. Suddenly changing Discord's UI completely and making it feel like a whole other app just makes people feel out of place. And although people may adapt to the new changes, I feel like most people would agree with me when I say the old changes feel smoother with more swiping and scrolling rather than more clicking. I hope Discord can do something about this mobile update as they have obviously spent a lot of time developing this. However, I wish they can listen more to the community feedback and make changes accordingly.
it took me 30 minutes to find out that I need to click now on the server name to see the online list. I never cringed as hard as yesterday when the "update" personally I call it downgrade was forced on me. But it is expected if they hired numbheads from meta. They can only think in one design so of course they had to mutilate discord.
I don't think they will listen to their users though, as they keep responding the same message on Twitter stating the old version won't come back. Let's pray for them to realize their mistake 🙏
They supposedly "improved" discord, what they did is make it worse, If you are not going to change it, at least put a button to change it to the previous interface
I'm neurodivergent and the new update makes Discord unusable for me :( Been with you guys since 2016 so it's really upsetting to see this app become less accessible. The reason I use Discord is because it's LESS like other social media platforms. Please either add an option to toggle between the two layouts or at least give all users a chance to adapt to these changes slowly rather than such an immediate switch. I'm aware this layout was available to some but I've yet to personally know anyone else who had a heads up this big a change was coming. I've had to cancel Nitro because the app is unusable to me now. I really hope to see most of these changes reversed please. ❤️
This has been one of the worst UI experiences in my life unironically. Never felt navigating through something this painful and geniunely annoying, bring an option to change it back or generally just remove this man.
As a mod I'm using the server member list regularly. Now it just impossible to find it. Simplifying shouldn't hinder basic one swipe access like it used to be. This was the most pointless update and I wish you could read the room and ask users what they wanted instead of pushing half baked updates that makes the end user experience worse. Please at least give us an option for the legacy perfect layout.
I'm extremely tempted to do the same, but sadly having too many friends and loved communities is holding me back. At least I won't be buying nitro! No support for a team that doesn't listen to it's users.
If the update ever gets pushed to my phone (I have updates turned off to stop this) I'll uninstall the app and just use the desktop app in my phone browser. They don't wanna listen to literally everyone and just say "it will take time to get used to", they're gonna love it when some alternative like, God forbid teams, takes over as the Premier communication app for pc users.
This app is almost unusable now. Genuinely. It takes forever to navigate these messy menus. It’s so rounded it’s distracted. DM’s are terrible. I don’t know why you guys out the Voice Call button in the worst possible spot and removed the sidebars. This update makes the app an inaccessible maze of convoluted circles. I’m constantly getting stuck on my phone keyboard or spending way too long to get info I had before.

Doing nothing guarantees that nothing will change. Leaving feedback and canceling Nitro is at least something. It does appear that Discord is taking note. We'll have to see what comes of it.

The best thing about Discord was the unified UI and UX across platforms. And this update ruined it for mobile. Using Discord on foldable devices is even more buggy since Discord now has different designs for mobile and tablet devices.

Having used Discord both on PC and mobile pretty much every day for the last two years. And having it as my only social media platform thing (I don't have Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat or whatever else is out there). I am GENUINELY heavily considering uninstalling the mobile app for the first time ever. The ONLY thing that's stopping me from doing it is being a moderator of a server, so it would be weird to ditch it completely and not be able to react if need be.

@@basilflower420I saw someone who liked it but that was compared to the last UI change which actually had a toggle to remove in favor of the OG UI we're all so familiar with. upon finding out that used to be an option and was now removed he got pretty pissed off.
The old layout was PERFECT. It was clean, efficient, streamlined, faster to navigate, and overall had a more comfortable feel. You could get where you needed to instantly. The new layout is too cluttered and wholly unintuitive. Swipe-to-reply was poorly implemented, and would be better NOT implemented. Not to mention the new DM location and the bar at the bottom when not focused on a text channel. The majority of users prefer the good ol’ fashioned reply button. The old way to view servers made perfect sense. Big to small. Server list on the left, channels to the right of that, swipe right, text within those channels, swipe right again, member list. Not to beat a dead horse, but I must really hammer the point home that the majority of the userbase really wants the old UI back. Exactly as it was.
The new ui is extremely cluttered and bulky in my opinion. Also really inconvenient to swap from dms and servers, especially cause it boots you out of your last message every time. I'd suggest add swipe right functionality thay isnt replying. Also this update is kind of a hassle overall. You need to make big QoL improvements (or add an option to revert PLEASE)
Me and at least 7 of my friends just cancelled our Nitro, and honestly nothing short of a full roll back of this layout stands a chance of us changing our minds. The blatant disrespect and ignoring of your customers has shown exactly what the values of Discord are, and exactly how much value we should place in Discord.
Listen to your community and stop taking them for granted. This is a terrible change for so many reasons: the UI is fundamentally worse and less efficient to use, along with being VERY inconsiderate in terms of accessibility for your users. Moving the server members list is genuinely the worst change discord have ever pushed. All it took was the swipe of a finger with one hand to check before quickly - now you need to tap the very top of the screen and scroll down a cluttered menu?
Great job Discord. You went from respectable to terrible. Even Twitter has more stars then you, and that's saying something. If you stopped to actually listen to your users, instead of counting every dollar a stupid nitro user gives you, we could actually have the amazing app we had a couple thousand updates ago. But no, now we are here. Don't fix what isn't broken.

In my experience it's more buggy (freezes, grey screens..) and I don't like the different Design compared to the Desktop. It was very good before when the Desktop and Phone App had a similar structure Thanks for doing all this but in my personal opinion it's a step down :(
bro you had one job, and it was to not reinvent the wheel. Add more features, cool, amazing even, but you didn't need to change the UI, it is HOLY unpractical. when you launch discord, everything was there, and nothing was confusing at all. Now you add a layer of complexity, that are the tabs at the bottoms that in reality don't need to be there, because the options where already fine where they were. Why the hell to i need to seperate tab for only servers, and a WHOLE tab for dms, it perfectly works in one place, just like pc and the same goes for everything else. Just revert the UI change, that tab is such an eye sore and its impractical, dont turn it into dollar store messenger 🙏🙏🙏 edit: i didn't even check fully, but everything is fine, literally everything else is super cool, just the tab just, not right...... you guys either need to make it more "right" or just make a different thingy
also, they gotta put the member list back on the right side of the screen and remove that "invite members" button right where the search tool is it's making me anxious abt accidentally inviting someone to a private server or something
my app keeps freezing and making me have to restart the app and sometimes my entire phone. this NEVER happened before the update and now its performance is the worst ive seen in my entire experience with discord. the search function doesnt allow specifics such as "during/after/before: [date]" or "from: [username]" i have to input a certain word a person has said ???? even if it still had that i wouldn't know because i TRIED it and nothing happened. also the fact search makes my app freeze along with constant glitches and terribly long input delays. it really should not be this hard to use the app and dear god have i REALLY considered canceling my nitro over this (i want to keep server pfps, my boost badge, and my animated pfp). even though i want to keep paying for nitro, im seriously questioning if i should even give money to a corporation that doesn't listen to their userbase. you could at least bring back the revert layout switch. im sure that button will be used a lot by what kind of feedback you guys are getting. also the swipe to reply is useless. i keep doing it on accident and even then i still press and hold on a message to intentionally reply, so this feature is utterly useless to me. everything about this update was unnecessary.

Removing the ability to swipe and quickly view member statuses and having to click the channel name now completely killed the navigation and ease of use of the app.
This new update is genuinely going to cause so many panic attacks for users as the old layout was easier for us to use. You can’t simply tell us to get used to it when we spent TONS of money every month for Nitro. Change it back before you lose your support and income.

It's honestly embarrassing how you guys aren't responding to feedback about this, especially because your userbase, on every platform possible, it's overwhelmingly telling you to revert the update or, at minimum, return the toggle. I HATE this update. Please let us go back to how it was. Everything is wrong, I can’t do the things I was able to with the old version. I hate that swiping left doesn’t pull up the search and show the chat members. I hate how servers and DMs are separated. I hate the UI and unnecessary compartmentalization of everything in the app. There was nothing wrong with discord app being a scaled down desktop version - I loved that, because there was no difference between the controls; if you knew how to navigate the desktop app, you knew how to navigate the mobile app. Now you expect us to learn a completely new app, because you changed everything about it? Please give us the option to go back to the desktop version. I hate this.
no problem with the new UI attracting people of a special kind to discord, but compatibility for the old version should still exist. it probably doesn't as is because there is no desire to keep 2 versions afloat, however a large majority of Discord's users, myself included, much prefer the old version, the new one is irritating. i say that as a design expert.
How out of touch are you with your userbase that you remove functionality to have it just look like another mobile social app? Swipe functions gone, DMs showing as a notification with the servers gone, have to go into a new tab to see who is even DMing you. Its not intuitive and feels clunky requiring extra steps for every mundane task.
i wonder if they’ll notice evryone wants the old UI or at the very least an option to have the older UI which was not as much of a pain on the eyes, with less contrast and an organised clean look. It’s really trying to become an app it’s not.
They seem to be actively ignoring negative feedback and just replying with "we're not sorry, get used to it." They turned off comments on their new video and only respond to the 3 or 4 positive comments on twitter. Not once addressing the THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of negative feedback.
I actually don't like this, i wish there was a way to turn it off. I prefer the old one, it felt more comfortable for me. I don't like having to look down and choose whether i want to dm someone or go on servers. It was easier before for me.
aside from the layout being horrible, buggy, and slow (which it is), why aren't we allowed to search by channel anymore? i'm not interested in seeing every single message in every single channel just to find one thing that i could have found if i was searching in a specific channel. do NOT force users to switch to the new layout, it's terrible and fundamental aspects are missing from it.
As someone that doesn’t ever really comment on videos, I made this one to express my displeasure with the layout. I understand that some may like it but from what I’ve seen, me along with many others don’t. I agree with the people that say there should be at least an option to change it in settings.

Seems like there's a decent consensus: new UI is really bad 😬 I don't mind some of the visual updates (though I've seena lot of people who have accessibility problems with it) but changing the core navigation to be completely different is what gets me. The desktop app works great. Having the mobile version laid out in the same way was one of discord's greatest strengths.

This update actually ruined discord mobile for me. I loved that it was a mini-PC version, that's why the app was so great. It was easy transition. The new functionality is horrible, the user experience is in the dumpster with all the feedback you've received all throughout testing and now. I haven't seen a single response to the negative feedback other that "get over it, get used to it." Using discord mobile since it's early days, but now, it's uninstalled and I've unsubscribed from Nitro. All over this stupid layout change which 90% of users loathe.
Old layout worked and was intuitive. The new layout is refreshing but not straight forward. You programmed your users to use the mobile version a certain way to only shift from that entirely… Your UX team needs to recognize that and rollback to the old interactivity while refreshing the look. Don’t change how we use the app

I saw in the description that they were worried about the mobile app feeling like a downsized desktop, but for me that's the whole point of Discord mobile. It doesn't treat phones as less than computers like other apps. Very bizarre decision. Not out of step for them, though, sadly

this is exactly why i LIKED discord and chose it as my main messenger. i liked how the experience didn't differ insanely between phone & pc . but they tore that feature away!
They are trying to steer away from that. The desktop app is too complicated for people that have never used it. Those are the people they are targeting though, because they want to gain greater mainstream appeal. Discord used all of us loyal users as a stepping stone in their efforts to become the next Telegram/WhatsApp/Facebook Messenger.

LISTEN TO YOUR COMMENTS. The overwhelming majority of your users hate this new UI. The old UI worked wonderfully because it's layout reflected and emphasized discords core functions- and was essentially tailor made for it (albeit, adapted a little for mobile.) The new layout is a mimicry and reflection of other social Media platforms, and doesn't complement discord in the least bit.
These updates have been in Beta for what, 7 months now? And after all this time- there has NEVER been an outpour of praise for the new layout. Some of the new features, sure. But there has only been an absolute CASCADE of irritation for the new layout. DONT LISTEN to the people you hired from Meta, and other platforms, the design philosophies for those apps absolutely do not translate well Into adapting discords core features
I get that you guys have sank a lot of time, effort, and funding into making this update- but this is one of the situations where you NEED to just eat the cost of it's development and just Go Back. You're going to alienate the ever-loving hell out of your millions of users in the pursuit of probably only gaining a few hundred thousand. It's not worth it. Those few hundred thousand are always going to primarily use those other apps that you're trying to emulate because that's where all of their friends are, they're not going to migrate and make discord their main social hub.
My friends and I actually took the time to scroll through this comment section, reddit, and other places talking about this update. And I'm not exaggerating when I say this. For every one positive comment about the UI change. THERE ARE A 100 NEGATIVE COMMETNS against it. (not exact numbers but it is genuinely really close.) So listen to your active users that have been with you for so very long. We love discord because of it's functionality and how it pairs so well with our activities in gaming and online spaces. It's previous layout and user experience was perfectly suited to the task, and adapting other social medial platforms user interface shows just how horrendous something can be when adapting something that doesn't have any inherent compatibility.

PLEASE add an option where you can go back go the old layout if you wish! I really don't like how the new update is organized- and many others do as well. The point is to make Discord another cookie cutter messaging app and to remove any charm it had. Like seriously, they did this before with the removal of tags and making everyone have to have a unique username, and now they are doing it with the layout.

There should be a feature to toggle between the old and new layout because the new layout feels really clunky. And the option to choose the previous dark mode should also be accessible as well because it feels too dark now, to where it actually hurts my eyes kinda

As someone who has used a lot of gaming based messaging platforms over the years (teamspeak, vent, mumble, curse, skype) I can happily say discord is by far the best like, across the board as to not even be close. Thats why its extra sad and baffling that such a unnecessarily warping update was pushed through by the devs. Really hope they don't keep doubling down on this and actually listen to their users.
Discord clearly stated “the old layout is no longer available”. Hopefully the dev who pushed this new update understands the amount of hate the new layout is getting. It’s not “oh we don’t like *change*”. Its, “the new layout is unintuitive, clunky, and everything has to have a sub menu for no reason”.
Something as simple as the vc ui was changed. The advertise “with the new layout, now you can read the text vc without joining by swiping up”. We could do that with the old layout without needing to swipe up, it was always on the screen, easy to find, easy to tap, and did not interfere with the swipe up function of many phones.
Everything is a submenu for no reason sounds about right, they had to make just turning on SPEAKERPHONE ON VCS have to be a part of a menu

The new update is inaccessible for those with astigmatism and can cause migraines. Additionally, this new update works poorly if you are using your mobile with one hand. All around a bad choice and it should be reverted back to the old layout and color scheme.
The new update doesn't make me any happier, nor does it feel in any way like an improvement. It's honestly made me just want to use the app less because of its abrupt change of core features. I don't want to "get used to" a lesser version. I cancelled my nitro as a small part of a larger financial incentive to actually get Discord to maintain the platform that their users want.
It's really sad, we've liked Discord because we thought it was a place that was down to be really efficient and convenient instead of a fluffy corporate mess. So this really feels like a tone-deaf betrayal.
The old mobile ui was just better in terms of fluidity of navigation. Just put it back, no one really cared that it was just a "tinier pc version"

While the new UI may be visually appealing to some, the old navigation system outshines it. Navigating the new design seems like jumping through hoops, and overall, it lacks the intuitive feel of the previous system. Yes, the new features are welcomed, but removing easier ways to navigate the app makes them somewhat overshadowed by the frustration of the convoluted user experience in the updated interface

This just feels like Discord once again adding something that people didn't really ask for. Take the nitro changes, for example. It added new discord mobile icons for exclusive nitro users. Although it may have been cool cosmetics wise, it was just something extra that made people spend money. However, when it comes to UI and actual changes to the system itself, I feel like Discord inadvertently caused so much chaos within the community because most people were fine with the way Discord is. Suddenly changing Discord's UI completely and making it feel like a whole other app just makes people feel out of place. And although people may adapt to the new changes, I feel like most people would agree with me when I say the old changes feel smoother with more swiping and scrolling rather than more clicking. I hope Discord can do something about this mobile update as they have obviously spent a lot of time developing this. However, I wish they can listen more to the community feedback and make changes accordingly.
it took me 30 minutes to find out that I need to click now on the server name to see the online list. I never cringed as hard as yesterday when the "update" personally I call it downgrade was forced on me.

I'm neurodivergent and the new update makes Discord unusable for me :( Been with you guys since 2016 so it's really upsetting to see this app become less accessible. The reason I use Discord is because it's LESS like other social media platforms. Please either add an option to toggle between the two layouts or at least give all users a chance to adapt to these changes slowly rather than such an immediate switch. I'm aware this layout was available to some but I've yet to personally know anyone else who had a heads up this big a change was coming. I've had to cancel Nitro because the app is unusable to me now. I really hope to see most of these changes reversed please. ❤️

This has been one of the worst UI experiences in my life unironically. Never felt navigating through something this painful and geniunely annoying, bring an option to change it back or generally just remove this man.
As a mod I'm using the server member list regularly. Now it just impossible to find it. Simplifying shouldn't hinder basic one swipe access like it used to be. This was the most pointless update and I wish you could read the room and ask users what they wanted instead of pushing half baked updates that makes the end user experience worse. Please at least give us an option for the legacy perfect layout.

If the update ever gets pushed to my phone (I have updates turned off to stop this) I'll uninstall the app and just use the desktop app in my phone browser. This app is almost unusable now. Genuinely. It takes forever to navigate these messy menus. It’s so rounded it’s distracted. DM’s are terrible. I don’t know why you guys out the Voice Call button in the worst possible spot and removed the sidebars. This update makes the app an inaccessible maze of convoluted circles. I’m constantly getting stuck on my phone keyboard or spending way too long to get info I had before.

The best thing about Discord was the unified UI and UX across platforms. And this update ruined it for mobile. Using Discord on foldable devices is even more buggy since Discord now has different designs for mobile and tablet devices.

Having used Discord both on PC and mobile pretty much every day for the last two years. And having it as my only social media platform thing (I don't have Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat or whatever else is out there). I am GENUINELY heavily considering uninstalling the mobile app for the first time ever. The ONLY thing that's stopping me from doing it is being a moderator of a server, so it would be weird to ditch it completely and not be able to react if need be.

Discord should listen to its users. The old UI was great. Why did they modify it without adding the option to go back to the old menu?
The old layout was PERFECT. It was clean, efficient, streamlined, faster to navigate, and overall had a more comfortable feel. You could get where you needed to instantly.
The new layout is too cluttered and wholly unintuitive. Swipe-to-reply was poorly implemented, and would be better NOT implemented. Not to mention the new DM location and the bar at the bottom when not focused on a text channel. The majority of users prefer the good ol’ fashioned reply button. The old way to view servers made perfect sense. Big to small. Server list on the left, channels to the right of that, swipe right, text within those channels, swipe right again, member list.
Not to beat a dead horse, but I must really hammer the point home that the majority of the userbase really wants the old UI back.

The new ui is extremely cluttered and bulky in my opinion. Also really inconvenient to swap from dms and servers, especially cause it boots you out of your last message every time. I'd suggest add swipe right functionality thay isnt replying. Also this update is kind of a hassle overall. You need to make big QoL improvements (or add an option to revert PLEASE)
Me and at least 7 of my friends just cancelled our Nitro, and honestly nothing short of a full roll back of this layout stands a chance of us changing our minds. The blatant disrespect and ignoring of your customers has shown exactly what the values of Discord are, and exactly how much value we should place in Discord.

Listen to your community and stop taking them for granted. This is a terrible change for so many reasons: the UI is fundamentally worse and less efficient to use, along with being VERY inconsiderate in terms of accessibility for your users.
Moving the server members list is genuinely the worst change discord have ever pushed. All it took was the swipe of a finger with one hand to check before quickly - now you need to tap the very top of the screen and scroll down a cluttered menu?

In my experience it's more buggy (freezes, grey screens..) and I don't like the different Design compared to the Desktop.
It was very good before when the Desktop and Phone App had a similar structure

bro you had one job, and it was to not reinvent the wheel. Add more features, cool, amazing even, but you didn't need to change the UI, it is HOLY unpractical. when you launch discord, everything was there, and nothing was confusing at all. Now you add a layer of complexity, that are the tabs at the bottoms that in reality don't need to be there, because the options where already fine where they were. Why the hell to i need to seperate tab for only servers, and a WHOLE tab for dms, it perfectly works in one place, just like pc and the same goes for everything else. Just revert the UI change, that tab is such an eye sore and its impractical, dont turn it into dollar store messenger 🙏🙏🙏
edit: i didn't even check fully, but everything is fine, literally everything else is super cool, just the tab just, not right...... you guys either need to make it more "right" or just make a different thingy

my app keeps freezing and making me have to restart the app and sometimes my entire phone. this NEVER happened before the update and now its performance is the worst ive seen in my entire experience with discord. the search function doesnt allow specifics such as "during/after/before: [date]" or "from: [username]" i have to input a certain word a person has said ???? even if it still had that i wouldn't know because i TRIED it and nothing happened. also the fact search makes my app freeze along with constant glitches and terribly long input delays. it really should not be this hard to use the app and dear god have i REALLY considered canceling my nitro over this (i want to keep server pfps, my boost badge, and my animated pfp). even though i want to keep paying for nitro, im seriously questioning if i should even give money to a corporation that doesn't listen to their userbase. you could at least bring back the revert layout switch. im sure that button will be used a lot by what kind of feedback you guys are getting. also the swipe to reply is useless. i keep doing it on accident and even then i still press and hold on a message to intentionally reply, so this feature is utterly useless to me. everything about this update was unnecessary.

Removing the ability to swipe and quickly view member statuses and having to click the channel name now completely killed the navigation and ease of use of the app.
This new update is genuinely going to cause so many panic attacks for users as the old layout was easier for us to use. You can’t simply tell us to get used to it when we spent TONS of money every month for Nitro. Change it back before you lose your support and income.

Sudden changes in routine give me meltdowns, discord is a safe space that I've used for years and suddenly getting eveything that I've used get changed like that really messed me up. It's obviously not the average persons reaction but it's just how *i* experienced this change

Reverse the update. It's honestly embarrassing how you guys aren't responding to feedback about this, especially because your userbase, on every platform possible, it's overwhelmingly telling you to revert the update or, at minimum, return the toggle. For once, listen to the community and feedback you're getting.
I HATE this update. Please let us go back to how it was. Everything is wrong, I can’t do the things I was able to with the old version. I hate that swiping left doesn’t pull up the search and show the chat members. I hate how servers and DMs are separated. I hate the UI and unnecessary compartmentalization of everything in the app. There was nothing wrong with discord app being a scaled down desktop version - I loved that, because there was no difference between the controls; if you knew how to navigate the desktop app, you knew how to navigate the mobile app. Now you expect us to learn a completely new app, because you changed everything about it?
Please give us the option to go back to the desktop version. I hate this.

no problem with the new UI attracting people of a special kind to discord, but compatibility for the old version should still exist. it probably doesn't as is because there is no desire to keep 2 versions afloat, however a large majority of Discord's users, myself included, much prefer the old version, the new one is irritating. i say that as a design expert.
How out of touch are you with your userbase that you remove functionality to have it just look like another mobile social app? Swipe functions gone, DMs showing as a notification with the servers gone, have to go into a new tab to see who is even DMing you. Its not intuitive and feels clunky requiring extra steps for every mundane task.
The new UI layout is terrible, bring back the old one, literally who even asked to change it

They seem to be actively ignoring negative feedback and just replying with "we're not sorry, get used to it." They turned off comments on their new video and only respond to the 3 or 4 positive comments on twitter. Not once addressing the THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of negative feedback.

I actually don't like this, i wish there was a way to turn it off. I prefer the old one, it felt more comfortable for me. I don't like having to look down and choose whether i want to dm someone or go on servers. It was easier before for me.

aside from the layout being horrible, buggy, and slow (which it is), why aren't we allowed to search by channel anymore? i'm not interested in seeing every single message in every single channel just to find one thing that i could have found if i was searching in a specific channel. do NOT force users to switch to the new layout, it's terrible and fundamental aspects are missing from it.

As someone that doesn’t ever really comment on videos, I made this one to express my displeasure with the layout. I understand that some may like it but from what I’ve seen, me along with many others don’t. I agree with the people that say there should be at least an option to change it in settings.
I don't understand how anyone in the team thought this was a good idea. The new layout is awful, its laggy, its fiddly and it's so much harder to navigate. This update sent me into a panic attack and I'm now looking for alternatives to discord because I refuse to deal with what made the app so useful being taken away. Discord doesn't need to look like Facebook and Instagram.
Don't listen to people from Meta and other companies. LISTEN TO YOUR USERS. 99% of everything I've seen about this update is negative. We all want the old layout back. At the very LEAST, give us the option to switch it back to the old UI. There's no "getting used" to this update. Overnight, you've made your app next to impossible to use.
I am genuinely considering deleting my discord account and finding a different app now. There's been unnecessary additions/updates one after the other and this is the final straw. Listen. To. Your. Users.

Seems like there's a decent consensus: new UI is really bad 😬 I don't mind some of the visual updates (though I've seena lot of people who have accessibility problems with it) but changing the core navigation to be completely different is what gets me. The desktop app works great. Having the mobile version laid out in the same way was one of discord's greatest strengths.
This is pointless. Discord was amazing. You guys are just ruining it. Please listen to the community and let there at least be an option to go back to the old UI.
This update actually ruined discord mobile for me. I loved that it was a mini-PC version, that's why the app was so great. It was easy transition. The new functionality is horrible, the user experience is in the dumpster with all the feedback you've received all throughout testing and now. I haven't seen a single response to the negative feedback other that "get over it, get used to it." Using discord mobile since it's early days, but now, it's uninstalled and I've unsubscribed from Nitro. All over this stupid layout change which 90% of users loathe.
Old layout worked and was intuitive. The new layout is refreshing but not straight forward. You programmed your users to use the mobile version a certain way to only shift from that entirely… Your UX team needs to recognize that and rollback to the old interactivity while refreshing the look. Don’t change how we use the app

Love how they did not mention at all the new layout, cuz the PR team knew just copy-pasting Facebook Messenger's UI over the perfectly good UI we used to have would piss everyone off.
