    Not sure the point accept to sound like a record. I love my portabilism scratch deck that is handheld, has cue buttons, a really damn good crossfader, 2 modes for the disc you scratch with and it can play beats at the same time as scratching any sample you add to the usb. Is that where this device is going or just going to be a player?

      I wanted one, and didn't have the money - but I did have a norns so I thought I would code up something that did what I needed it to do. I agree the portablism is a cool device 💕

      There's a lot of insane boxes out there 😍 norns shield can be a cheap way in, and it has been great for me as a diy-er (at one point I had three 😅)

      Thanks! This was definitely my inspiration - sometimes you just need a little turntable on hand. Lots of fun manipulations

    Bro you should fix smth. I hear that L and R channel gets separated. It sounds like Haas effect.
    One of the channels gets delayed by some amount of few samples whie nudging and stays with it in normal play mode.

    Amazing project! Even if the UI with the turntable is dope, I think an option to switch to another UI with horizontal waveform might be more practical.

      Yeah absolutely. I'll put it on the list - hardest thing will probably be finding a spare button combination 😁

    A pitch shifter slider would be preferable to "nudge" knobs.

    • @adamstaff7352
      @adamstaff7352  2 місяці тому

      Totally! The pitch slider is controlled by encoder 1, but I forget to mention it until later in the video 😅😅

    • @adamstaff7352

      It is! Kinda! Check the link in bio, but basically it's a diy redesign done by okyeron from the monome community, sold through his shop. Check there for stock. If not, there's the official monome norns, and shield. Depending on where you are there might be sellers in your country making norns shield. And drop in on the lines forum for anything else 😁 again link in bio x

      @@adamstaff7352 your creation here is very cool. I’m starting a new rave company in my city but once that all calms down I really want to look into building one of these 🤯

    I like the idea of this but I can't see a practical ready of beatmatching. The only controls you have over the speed is the platter rpm of 33 45 and 78 and the digit variance underneath.
    It needs a pitch slider like all other turntables. For me it looks cool but it's unusable.

    • @adamstaff7352
      @adamstaff7352  2 місяці тому

      Absolutely - I forget to mention the pitch slider until half way through the video ☺️ but it's there! Plus minus 8 semitones 👍👍

      You can get norns (the hardware) in a number of ways - and it does a lot of other things too! Scripts (the software), like turntable, are created by the community for the community. Check out the links in the description 💕💪

      Totally possible! In this case I wanted just a small project,something I could actually finish 😅 with external midi controllers it would be fun to control too. Norns has stereo ins and outs, so monitoring might be tricky if you want a cue mix in headphones - same as with this script... It would be easy to eventually find yourself building something like ejay/tractor etc! I'll leave it to those teams 😅

      I decided I really wanted to DJ this year, but didn't have the money for turntables and a mixer. What I did have was two norns, so I thought I'd make myself a turntable instead!
