  • ‎@FishfearmeStudios invited me for a trip to ice fish Currant Creek Reservoir, and we had a great day. We both caught a lot of fish, including some nice tiger trout with one over 5lbs!

Nice catches. Good to see the big boys and girls are still in there.
That live scope is amazing. Good to see you got Jason on the ice.

Well done on catching that monster. You two did a lot better than I did on the other end of the lake. I got a late start to the day and ended up by the dam. I guess it pays to have a snowmobile to get to those good areas. I saw you guys across the lake but no way was I going to walk to you guys. I hated that slush top. I was on edge all day every time I post holed. Glad you had a great day. Maybe we will catch you on the next one. Take care.

I wondered if you showed. Sorry we missed you and had no phone service. The slush made it impossible to buzz across the lake to check.

Once we got out on the ice and sank down into that slush, we knew mobility would be limited for anyone on the lake.
We're bound to cross paths eventually. 👍

That was awesome other than the slush and losing your hat. Thanks for the hard labor. We will have to find better conditions somewhere.

Sweet vid, but tiger trout can’t naturally spawn. They have to be bred in captivity. Should never keep them, under any circumstances.

I disagree completely. They are lab-created novelty fish and can only (rarely) occur in nature when a non-native species (brown trout) find the perfect conditions to do so (with eastern brook trout).
They are a management tool to help control bait fish populations and are encouraged to be kept in watersheds where native cutthroat are present.
Here in Utah, they are stocked heavily throughout the state, and harvest is absolutely part of those management plans.
Furthermore, the only reason any of us participates in angling activities is because our ancestors saw food in the water. Let's not forget that fact.
I recognize and embrace that ancient connection, and I enjoy eating food that isn't loaded with hormones, chemicals, or food coloring.
But by all means, if you choose to release them, that's perfectly fine as well.
