I totally agree, on the same page, I think there is a bit more to this, than just an agreement/contract; Picture this: Cypher: Sage, Keep me alive, I still have things to do. Fade: "Hello everyone, I'm Things. But I also think/expect them to be clever enough to keep privat feeling and work apart and to mercyless shot down each others omega double. And of course don't admit it openly, as it would just open up a weakpoint. Lastly, they also would be able to sacrifice each other, if something more importend is at stake. I don't say it would be easy, but they would be levelheaded enough to do it.
Based on other Cypher voicelines we can suspect that he was involved in some illegal activities in Rabat (his hometown). He mentions that he used to struggle with money (eco win), straight up says he has always been a killer (ace) and we all know he is a great hacker on top of that. He probably failed in his job in some way, which resulted in him losing Nora (and possibly more relatives), now he maybe is just ashamed of his past, therefore he keeps his identity (and face) hidden. Oh and also Fade doesn't know his face, Astra does
I think Cypher's story is the only reason why I main him. I have legit spent a year straight only playing Cypher just to know all his voicelines myself. Turns out, he is one of the most tragic Agents in the protocol and you can feel those lines like he meant them or something.

So many context between each of Cyphers lines. It's sad because of the backstory of all of them, even Phoenix... but then there's the beauty in Cyphers possessiveness along with the others standing up against their odds.
He will meet his family again though for me, it will not be a really his family since its in different timeline in different world. But we know cypher will be glad seeing them again alive.
Personally, I feel like the only character backstory sadder than cypher is omen. It's always sad when you here "One more time omen, how many times have you heard that."
to be honest they are both equally sad if you believe some voicelines, cypher lost his family and wants their revival from sage, that’s probably why he’s still in Valorant and omen has lost himself and is looking for a way to memories a person who has lost his family is almost no different from someone who has lost himself

Hearing everyone talk to cypher breaks my heart a bit LMFAO, but I find it hilarious because everyone just finds him so annoying because he snoops so much, THATS HIS ABILITY PLEASE, in Cinematics they get so much info due to him, they're not the only one who finds him annoying, riot keeps KILLING HIM!! I will be laughing if the real reason Sova lost an eye is if he shot himself with his own arrow. Cypher is keeping it a secret to protect Sova's dignity.
