  • Buckle up and get ready to learn about the basic morphs and traits in crested geckos. In this video we go over ALL the base morphs and independent traits that make up the beautiful paintjobs we see in these animals. Just a heads up, you might want to watch this video 2-3 times so you dont miss anything!
This is the first part of a 2-part "Crested Gecko Morph Encyclopedia" we are doing. Part 2 - "Crested Gecko Designer Morphs" will be out next weekend (Jan. 14th).
Stay tuned to see a more in depth video of how these morphs work genetically in the near future.

I've been trying to find a good guide on morphs for FOREVER and while I did find a lot of great info it was really hard for me to sort it all out and understand it in my head. The way you started out with the basics and explained how the genes affected each other was SO helpful! I finally get it now, thanks!

Definitely helpful, thank you. Can you please explain the genetics of the pinstripe. I have 2 partial pins and they produced a 100% pin. Is this due to phenotypic expression in a autosomal dominant gene? If you have academic resources on the genetics it will be highly appreciated if you can share them. I have one pair of Harlequins (male almost 99% pin, I think), one pair of dalmatians and one pair of gargs (retc and striped). The genetics fascinates me and I would love to understand the genetic triats a bit better. I will never breed on a scale where the morphs are a genetic playground, just really very interesting to me due to the fact that I come from a medical background. Our morphs are also far behind yours. Minette, South Africa
