Steve Winwood is phenomenal! Who's with me?
Played every instrument in it. One man show. I'm with you.
Rollo St. James I'm totally with you .What a great jam.
Sold!
How good can it be....!
Not only was I not aware of this song, I didn't know that Steve Winwood played any instruments, much less, that he is a multi-instrumentalist.

Here's some more stuff you probably didn't know, about Steve Winwood:
ultimateclassicrock.com/steve-winwood-things-you-didnt-know/
He might be the most underrated rock star of all time.
I can't agree with that.. anyone who knows anything about music. Knows Steve winwood and Carlos Santana. Were the 2 youngest musicians to play Woodstock..14yrs old.. besides that some of the best musicians like Eric Clapton..for instance. Knows Steve winwood. Traffic.. blind faith.. even musicians nowadays. Knows Steve winwood as a musician outstanding.. he can do a whole album. Without anyone but himself playing all the instruments and laying down the tracks.. there's a few others that can do that.. but to say under rated.. maybe to people who don't love music..lol 😂❤😂
People who don’t know the meaning of underrated should not use it willy Nelly..🇨🇦
Underrated is not the word that comes to mind when I think of Steve Winwood. I hope younger people discover him though.
the funky bass and synth stuff is heaven ! 😄
Together with the rhythm of a diesel train.
Bass player ... en fuego
The great Steve Winwood some musicians call the master.
Certainly a Musician's Musician if ever there was one!
Yes. Amazing that Steve played all of the instruments on this!
Steve Winwood Night Train is one of my personal favorite song
Legend
Like Jim Capaldi said at Woodstock that Steve Winwood is by far the greatest musician on the planet.
That bass is frickin outrageous.
Yes Matt
Many forget the bass
@@neilangus4401 Multimoog bass.forum.vintagesynth.com/viewtopic.php?t=62800
@@neilangus4401 especially nowadays and it's a shame because so many songs would sound so much better with some nice deep base and of course no auto-tune ever ever again
@@gardensofthegods
Precisely
Wise words indeed
That bass is actually played on a Multimoog not a bass guitar. But it still sounds fantastic.
Steve Winwood decided when the 80's should start
Rated highly by the best musicians
This is what you call a "real" solo album. Superb.
@doug3475 Steve Winwood Night Train is one of my personal favorite song
0:38
This song is written for eternity, in fact it is not supposed to ever end.
Gerald,
Right you are -
Like a true night train!
Hes a spiritual church goin guy
Arc Of A Dive is truly a solo album. Steve not only sings but every instrument you hear is also played by him. A true artist.
*Diver
I'm 65. Seen him live with Traffic in Pensacola Fla. Been a Winwood listener ever since. Like right now. Still.
Actually that was Conan O'Brien playing some of the musical instruments back in the day .
( NYUCK NYUCK )
@@tonymartines8607 Very lucky 🍀
Arc of a Diver was pretty good too..
I've been a fan since 1966. Stevie is probably the greatest musician of our generation.
Indeed
Oh, I would agree!
S W. Is Truly A Gift to This World. Thank You
I'm 65 and I remember when He issued Arc of a diver like it was yesterday. Brutally good album...
Yep I know exactly what you mean because I'm 63 and I remember when it first came out and wow what wonderful memories from The Arc of the Diver
Same. I'm 61 here, and AoaD just blew me away when it was released; every track is a keeper. It's one of those albums that leaves an imprint on your brain, laced with memories.
Me too and I will soon be 73 LOL
I'll soon be 73 and I absolutely love his voice, music, bass, organ (synthe when so) since 1965 ! and the funny thing is I am french !! Bass guitar is the fundation of a song. If not the whole thing collapses. And what a fantastic voice. Very deep as I love.
Ahhh. 1981, in San Franciso one weekend, alone, no plans. Bought a cassette player/FM tuner, and this tape. Walked from one end of the city to the other and back, morning to evening on a beautiful sunny day, with this song and K-FOG playing in my head. I will never forget.
I have loved Steve since 8th grade living in Athens, Greece. I'm now a 60 year old woman and I still love his music.
Yes I know what you mean I'm 63 and when I first heard Stevie Winwood way back in the Spencer Davis band I couldn't believe that incredible voice and have always followed his career
Hello Elizabeth Greetings from Greece 🇬🇷
One on THE five finest musicians who ever lived, this great song proved it
Yeah it was the best track on Arc of A Diver. Very atmospheric.
Nobody sings like Stevie Winwood I don't care if you put Eric Clapton with them no one seems like Steve Winwood especially Valerie or you got to roll with the baby that's my favorite you got to roll with a baby😇😙✝️☦🥰🥰🤩😍
Number 1 for this guy.
Awesome!!
On?
There will never be another Steve Winwood. He's a talent that you can't replicate........
Him and Stevie Wonder are so phenomenally gifted
Great Steve...
I rode that night train in 1985 -- Paris to Spain. What an experience ! Yeah ... exactly like the song.
This song was insanely ahead of its time. Synthesizer-dependent songs were still getting their start across the music industry. And to see a guy like Steve go all out and write and record music with synthesizers to this extent all on his own in his own small and desolate studio for Arc of a Diver was an amazing accomplishment that cannot be ignored.
Recording your own music all by yourself was and still is hard enough. And that difficulty is escalated when you consider how limited synthesizers were at this time. But the fact that Steve himself was able to use these limitations to his advantage and create an entire album that passes the test of time on his own without any major help is just a testament to how much of a musical genius he is.
And drum machines too
Not heard this for years...forgot how good this album is ..definitely stood the test of time .
Just one guy.
Amazing.
"Master Winwood" indeed.
NO DOUGHT! BRAVO!!
Luv this song
This album was our "listen to" on our Pioneer System when we got home from work every day while we were first married.
45 years now, and it gets less play than deserved, but it's still awesome. As my wife and I retired, floating in our pool, loving life.
Bless you n your family always and Forever n Ever ❤😊❤
Amazing I had no idea he played lead guitar on this song. He can do everything. Pure genius.
IMO…. Steve was up against wayyy too much “competition” in the 80’s. Yet he surpassed them all with his enduring talent, rhythm, and vibes that always and forever will keep us connected to him.
Steve Winwood, one of 2 Renaissance men of my genetation.
Such a classy guitarist
Night train from London to Edinburgh, my first time in Britain. Love from Spain ❤
My father was in love with this song, for his last train we remembered so much things thanks to this song ! ...
I'm late to comment, but absolutely! Always loved his voice, guitar & keyboard skills. This song was hands down one of my favorite 80's songs. What an era! Alot of great male singers back then who could actually sing.
Such a multi-faceted musician! He does it all...keyboards, guitar, drums, horns...Why is he not in the R&R half fame??
Clapton-esque gueeitar here no doubt. plus all the rest...including true poetry.
apparently not dumb enuf..
He is, as member of traffic, since 2004.
Because the "HALL" of fame is bogus. You have people honored in there that have nothing to do with rock and roll.
Best Steve concert...Him and Eric Clapton together again: ua-cam.com/video/zanQN7Rys2g/v-deo.html
@@Doggeslife yeah I don't pay attention to Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anymore what a joke and how prejudiced thanks to none other than Jann Wenner .
For Emerson Lake and Palmer never did get their award or even a nomination and now Carl Palmer is the only one left and I'm sure they would wait till he's dead to give that award but of course they won't even offer it because Wenner doesn't like progressive rock and that says everything you need to know about that disgusting creep .
But they voting people like Pat Benatar or the Bangles ... ? good Lord .
How unfair
rock and roll hall of fame doesn t deserve steve winwood to be in
Brilliant riff. This just trucks on. Guitar work is fab. Eric Clapton said of him he's a f**king good guitarist. And they've played live a good number of times
A guitar solo that you don't want to end.
One of my fav Steve Winwood songs.
Arc of a Diver first tape of his l owned..still my fave..did not know his music..my 15 year old daughter
Introduced me..out of the mouth of babes ..honour our children for knowing good music..🇨🇦
His music transforms art to a way of life.
Grande pezzo, sottovalutato all'epoca in Italia...
@Atlantikonrad Steve Winwood Night Train is one of my personal favorite song
On a night train in the Himalayas, brought this LP when released. The year after ,met the man at a party in Amsterdam, hit it off as friends not having a clue who he was - till later!🙏
I bought Arc of a Diver Winwood 2nd Album
In 1980 .Unbelievably, amazing talent. One man band. In my opinion he is most definitely one of the best singer songwriter ,multi instrumentalists of all time.
Moosa,
Yep - truly genius !
America had it with
Prince;
Britain has it thanks to Winwood - once in a generation rare talents!
This is simply a classic. One of Steve Windwood's finest moments...
dust , from the album " arc of a diver" one of his best , its like it was sung yesterday.

Dust is the best!
I agree with you 👍 fabulous 🎵 Music and brings back lots of good Memories.❤️🎵🙏
Steve Winwood has given me so much pleasure over the many years, I just don’t know what I’d do without his music!
Er war mit einer der Größten in den 60iger als das Musikleben erst richtig begann.
Steve Winwood is one of if not the greatest musicians of all time. He’s up there with Prince and Stevie in my book. 🙏🏽🕊️
Little Stevie Winwood. So magical
Saw his Roll with it Tour....1988 THE BRIDGE BETWEEN BRILLIANT AND STUPENDOUS..... HE'S A MUSIC 🎶🎵 LEGEND.... LIKE CLAPTON AND LENNON, HARRISON AND MC CARTNEY
Loved this song from the 1st time I heard it probably was 12 at the time in the early 80's
I grew up in the 80s he was one of my favorites
Arc of a Diver, a real masterpiece
Yes I always love Stevie Winwood Spanish Dancer
This is the tightest song ever. Steve is the perfect pocket player.
The most beautiful song from Steve Winwood. By far!
ua-cam.com/video/1DbA3ZOjoCU/v-deo.html
...not by far !!!
But it is an exhilarating tune that you don't want to end!
Steve Winwood's music never gets stale; its quality just comes into sharper focus over time.
Dieser Song ist so unglaublich, ich kann gar nicht sagen wie geil unfassbar wie oft ich denn schon gehört habe früher im LKW da hat das ganze Führerhaus gezittert ❤
Well, Steve Winwood!!!!! Not only I've would of play the keyboards and the guitar with you, but I've surely would of hell like to ride at the Night Train with you, and forever and ever!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I happened to listen to this piece, only in 1994, the voice seemed to me at the beginning just that of Phil Collins, instead I discovered that it is this great artist who is Steve Winwood able to make an album singing and playing all the main instruments , a great musician.
in the early 80's I listened to it again , and again, and again,....
Dig this album. 6 tracks-all of them solid.
7
...the best Song from Steve Winwood....
Back in the day when albums consisted of 6 to 8 solid tracks. Now...18 to 25 tracks.....with lots of trash included. Always digged the work of Steve Winwood.
Bought this album back in 1981. Love this so much, The beat is amazing.
ua-cam.com/video/1DbA3ZOjoCU/v-deo.html
Ditto
Arc of a diver and low spark of high heeled boys - the 2 perfect albums to listen to while working. Perfect mix of lo fi and melody that doesn't break your concentration but rather enhances it.
The most imprinted memory I have of Stevie Winwood was the Arc Of diver album being played through the bands PA systems before live of concerts back in the late 70’s. Great times, great musician .😀
ua-cam.com/video/1DbA3ZOjoCU/v-deo.html
This song is awesome!!!
Another fantastic track from the MASTER !!!
This song will always be Joe and I driving over the hill reaching for the sun. Forty years later I still hold on to memories...

Nearly 40 years later this still utterly epic, a great finale to a superb album, the whole record is loading up to this track.
Absolutely one of a kind deadly music 👍👍
Steve plays ALL the instruments, such a talende guy.
Winwood is the best of the best.
Best obscure Steve Winwood song ever!..keep it like that!!!....
He is so Cool !!
Love Steve Winwood's music! Superb guitar playing and keyboardist extraordinaire!
Heard this in '86 but had no idea who it was! I've been looking for it for years ! Yippee I just found it!
Incredible talent. Then and now.
Absolutely phenomenal!!
Crazy ass bass line!! Love it!!!
Great groove love the intro
Sets the scene of a black night, trains roaring down the track. Winwood mixes synth and plays a mean electric guitar.
His voice full of soul and soars
Still sounds great in 2020
I don't November 15th 2021 Stevie Wynwood still sounds as great as ever with this one of my favorite songs by him
Another one jem from the man with the Voice-Guitar-Synths-Arranger significant style 💯🎧
Never gets old.
I have always LOVED this song but they never play it anymore on the radio. Good stuff from an amazing artist. Love me some Steve Winwood.
SIrius satellite radio is good start
The best! Valarie too!
Man, I grew up with this song... Such a great time
Wynwood's Night Traincame out when I was in love and shortly thereafter I produced a beautiful wonderful son ... born out of real love and not a mistake he was definitely meant to be here and I knew it .
Huge SW fan for over 50 years.Always interesting, whatever he does has quality.Nightrain sounds great, in a car , at night, roof down.
Jon 0 YES☺️😉❣️✌🏼
Awesomely beautiful and very inspiring composition! No doubt about it.That bass line gets me going every time. Excellent!!
Legend... still listen to all your songs - Higher Love still stops me in my tracks when I'm moving about.
Great track ...nice funk sound🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He is so talented and writes the most fondly memorable songs.
Love this, bass, keyboards, guitar .......reminiscent of "Same old scene " by Roxy Music
What a great travelin song, I'll bet I played this tune thirty str8 times in 1986 on that 567 mile trek from San Antone to Las Cruces NM on I-10. Such a great diversified artist, thank you little Stevie ! Still got that vision of you at 16 playing with Spencer Davis and that magical voice. Rock on
I made a similar drive in 1985, but it was Austin to El Paso. I originally started the drive in Falls Church, Va but stopped to see a friend in Austin for about 10 days. I bet u was headed to NMSU? I was on my way to UTEP!
My listening binge was SF to Seattle...many times.
This should have millions of hits.
Hell of a musician in every sense of the word ! This is off of Arc of a Diver , brings back Great Memories. Steve Winwood ! Totally talented and Unique!
Been diggin this jam for over 40 years
This one really hits it out of the park in every way..
This album somehow slipped past me. (I think we were busy with our very young children at that time.) So this is the first time I've ever heard this. Thanks for posting it. (You can't go wrong with Steve Winwood.)
