Why can't I get any rain??? Storms routinely split when they hit my area.

  • I just finished mowing my lawn and heard the rumble of thunder.
Perfect, I thought - maybe it will knock down the humidity and dust.
Nope! I watched on my Radar Now APP as a line of storms, some with indicated hail approached from the north.
The line split in my neighborhood and reformed just to the south of me.
Not a drop fell here! And this happens all the time. Me and my neighbor talked about it, we would watch storms from the west do the same thing!

Yeah, it's uncanny how often it happens. My neighbor will watch the rain obscure the road 1/2 mile west and work it's way towards us. And then it splits north and south and misses us. Way too often!

Same happens to us. It ends up splitting apart and following the north and south rivers out to sea. We get nothing but a horizon of dark sky.

Where I live here in eastern ky there's a refinery and a lot of plants that emit steam and heat into the atmosphere they all (residents)say it plays a part on how the storms are moved away from this area but they follow the ohio river and I64

Yeah, it's wild! I always assumed there was some land feature to the west that split the storms, but this one came from the north and did the same thing. Maybe it's me! Lol
