Thank you very much for this video. Had the exact same problem on a 2016 GMC Sierra I just bought. This explained it all and best of all, ZERO dollars to repair.
Great video. I was able to do this yesterday in about 45 minutes. Just as this video shows, the wire was broken. Very cheap wire - probably 24 gauge. I was able to reconnect the haptic vibrator but I chose not to shove it back inside the seat. It is hanging harmlessly below the driver's seat. Warning light is off. Thank you for the video. I would not have attempted this otherwise.
Thanks for this. I was going crazy trying to figure out why I had the “service driver assist” warning. Sure enough, it was that little actuator motor. Wire was snapped. I soldered it back together and now I’m all set!
Just came across your video about how to repair the vibrator in the seat mine just went out today. And thanks to you I will not be heading to the dealership.
WOW Even though there are a lot better camera operators,,, Yours is a superior video because you actually decided to try and fix it instead of just buying a new one and topped it off by opening it up to show how it works.. I gotta Subscribe!! Thanks
Excellent video and explanation of the issue! Thank you for helping us DIYers! Might be a good idea to put some sort of armored cable around it too but those splices you used are plenty strong.
I had the same issue, and after finding this video, went out to my suburban and sure enough my left side seat vibrator wire was cut, so now I will have to do the same repair
hi, I have Chevrolet Malibu 2020 premier and I am facing two problems. First - Driver assist system notification that is also stopping Adaptive cruise and emergency brake system to stop and other is the carplay/ android auto not working although I can connect phone via usb and play songs but cannot open carplay. Will that vibrator thing fix the adaptive cruise problem as well ?
I replaced the left vibrator in the drivers seat because I had an error message. Sure enough the wire was broke. My error message is gone, but it won’t vibrate. Thoughts?
On my GMC Serria, that same light comes on. It vibrates sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. When the light goes off it vibrates. Is there a way you can bypass the seat vibrator and make the light go OFF? I don't care if the seat vibrates or not. Does it hurt the computer or engine in any way?
Once the sensor is repaired do the codes need to be cleared? My service drivers assist system message is on in my 15 Escalade. It’s driving me nuts. I ordered two new sensors and plugged them in to check to see if the message cleared and it didn’t. What all components make this message pop up? Is it just the seat vibrators?
Both the right and left Haptic Motors share a ground and both power feeds run directly to the Memory Seat module. About the only thing it can be is the haptic motors or a bad module if the wring is good. I would clear the codes and keep them plugged in and see what happens.
I have a 2019 Chevrolet Blazer RS. Has anyone tried to fix this same issue on a Blazer? Any idea what a dealership would charge to fix this issue? Appreciate any feedback.
Probably going to be the same problem, even if you can't repair your old one new aftermarket ones are cheap. A dealer is going to mark up the price of the part and charge at least an hour of labor and their labor rate is probably around $120.00 or more. So my guess would maybe a total of $220.00 or more.
curious mines do not vibrate when i come close to a object but does when I'm changing lanes. Would this work with that issue or is it a whole different problem I am having?
The real question is how do you disable this God forsakenly irritating haptic motor permenantly and *not have the warning light come on? (Edit, looks to me like I'll could just open up that little motor housing and snip the tiny little rod with the weight on the end of it. Motor can spin it's little heart out but no vibration)
I have thought about hooking both the vibrators to a switch so I can turn them on while driving for a little massage action. A co-worker has an Audi that has seat massagers that can be turned on or off for comfort.
This is an obvious manufacturer defect. I repaired mine twice, and it’s the same thing. Usually one wire broken. Second time it broke at the flexible plastic where it went into the motor. Had to re-solder the tabs where it connects at the motor. POS

@@737mechanic i got the diagnostics done hu chevrolet and they said everything is working fine, the camera and the sensors. Any idea why the adaptive cruise is not working ? My lane change assist works fine and the manual cruise also works. Vehicle also detects the pedestrians or vehicles in front but the emergency brake and the adaptive cruise doesn't work.

Thank you for the video, I've been dealing with the stupid alert for a year now and see how easy it is to fix it. Charles Taylor would be proud!
Not many people know who Charles Taylor is. I'm Impressed.

This helps so much! I believe this is a common issue because I do have this issue right now! Service Driver Assist System is annoying!!

Thank you for the video! This was the problem on mine, easy fix!
I appreciate this I just bout my 2016 it just went out today
My left side just decided to stop working. At least now I've got some information as to what I'm looking for/dealing with.
Excellent detail on the repair video. Thanks! Can you share what scanner you are using that covers the Body Control Module B-codes?
This worked on my 2015 Yukon Denali!!
My yukon just started doing this

My 16 LTZ Suburban just started throwing this alert and my left side vibrator is inoperative
Real challenge is not laughing everytime you say vibrator 🤣😂😂
Nice thanks for the video. Did you get the Service driver assist system when you started the truck or was it some other time. Thanks.
It would come on when the vibrators was supposed to activate.
Thanks man
Thanks, great video. What crimper are you using for the solderless connectors?
Raychem Ad-1377
I been getting this in my 2016 Malibu Premier would this be under my seat?
Yes if you have the vibrators in you seat and one or the other doesn't work this could be the problem.
@@737mechanic okay I will check
Hey 737 - do you have any experience with the adaptive cruise control not working on GMC products?
I have the same problem. It works when it wants to.
I get this Driver Assist System error on my 14 Buick Lacrosse but no codes are coming up on the scan
I replaced the left vibrator in the drivers seat because I had an error message. Sure enough the wire was broke. My error message is gone, but it won’t vibrate. Thoughts?
New vibrator could be seized up.
Disconnected the battery for a few minutes and that did the trick. Thanks

You would probably have to replace the motor with a resister of a similar value to the motor windings so the computer thinks the motor is there.

It never disabled my cruise.
Mine vibrates but still comes up with the service driver assist. Idk
Can you not turn the vibrator off?
You might be able to. I will look next time I get in the truck.
