I think it is so important for us as moms to continue to grow in our faith + our motherhood, which in turn = how we disciple our children…

I’ll go first:
I’m Christina. I’m married to my best friend, Seth, we have 5 kids (ages 2, 3, 6, 10, & 14), and love our family, Jesus, and adventuring together.
We are passionate about being counter culture, including alternatives to traditional schooling. I have experience as a public school teacher, private school teacher, and homeschool mom!
I love the Charlotte Mason education approach, and many others, but I’d say I’m more of an eclectic teacher-mixing the different aspects of homeschool styles that I love-living books, literature-based learning, Montessori, and so much more!

NEVER stop sharing this type of content. I feel so alone whenever I do things that are counter-cultural, so I'm forever grateful to hear your convictions and have a chance to read through the comments from other mamas who are pursuing a Philippians 4:8 lifestyle for their family. I would really love it if you would sometime share with us how you and your husband handle making shared decisions about these types of things... especially if one of you feels more strongly than the other about it. Maybe he would even be willing to come give his perspective?

Thank you! These things like Harry Potter, Disney, and some you hadn't mentioned (Minecraft and Fortnite), are big issues. BUT its so hard to find other parents who think the same in these areas, its really hard for my kids to connect with other kids with interests because of this. Kids these days have very narrow interests, growing up I don't remember all these issues. So frustrating!
Yes! Minecraft and Fortnite too! I don’t know a ton about them but I know enough to know they are not good for kids and certainly don’t glorify God!
Christina! Yesssss! I think we need more heavy discussion to wade through all of this! It is amazing how God will out and out lay it on your heart that something is wrong, and then sometimes it really is a personal conviction. Bottom line is how will each situation affects my family and their walk with Christ. You are so graceful in speaking on your convictions, but you are bold. Two amazing qualities! Thank you so much for this because there are things I don't want in my family and some people think is just fine to indulge in. I will be answering to the Lord in how my husband and I led our family, and we must be so tender with their souls! Thank you for blessing me with this video!

Yes!! My eyes have really been opened the past 2 years at all the evil that is being thrown at us and especially our children! The enemy wants control. Thank you for this video and for talking about hard things! I think it's time we all start having these hard conversations. And thank you for sharing Jesus with your followers ❤ it is so good to see and inspiration for me to do the same!

I’m a new follower and Lord willing, will begin homeschooling this fall, so I have been slowly going through your videos! Just wanted to poke in my conviction about Disney. My husband and I felt uneasy about it and wouldn’t let our young children watch many of the movies, but what shocked us into canceling was their attempt at political involvement in Florida’s public schools. I don’t even live there but their message was loud and clear. Sometimes it takes an event like that to shock us into a realization. Since then, we have been looking at several other things with discernment too. And turns out…our kids don’t even miss Disney! Thank you for your videos!

Christina! Look at you and all these mamas! I'm a little late watching this video but so blessed! I appreciate you pointing to Jesus, and his authority. I wish more people would seek him when allowing things in their homes and lives. I know people judge us for doing things against the grain, but only one judge really matters. You are so kind and gentle in your sharing. Thank you for being an encourager and I loved your little snuggle bug. I felt her sweet embrace clear across the days and miles.
Disney has always given me a dark feeling. Thanks for making me feel less crazy. I love these videos about the tough Christian topics no one wants to talk about ❤️

Amen! Praying for you as you seek the Lord as to what He wants you to do in regards to reading the book to your students.
When my husband and I were dating, we talked about Narnia, and I will admit the teacher in me (especially the part of me that loved that allegory) responded with, “what in the world can you find wrong with it?” His response is what stopped me in my tracks and made me think again, “why then do we need to use mythological creatures (the Minotaurs and centaurs-which are the product of beastiality-something abhorrent to the Lord) to talk about/illustrate the things of God? I grew up in public school and we studied Greek Mythology, so I guess in my mind they were just literary components of the fantasy genre. When I took time to step back and really think about it, I could see where he was coming from and it made a lot of sense to me. I know the Lord will reveal His will to you in this, because you’re following His word and seeking Him for wisdom.
I appreciate you stepping out in faith and being bold to share what the Lord is teaching you. We need more SALT & LIGHT in this dark world. Blessings to you & your precious family!

Great video! These types of videos are lacking so much on major platforms. I haven't heard any other homeschool christian mom's go into any of this. Love your advice. I 100% agree with disney...especially lately disney is pushing an agenda that God very clearly states is not okay in the Bible. We do watch a little Disney but it's always older movies, none of the woke movies with agendas. We have to protect our babies. God bless please keep creating these videos! ❤️

Yes, Christina! I am so with you! I am working on being comfortable with being uncomfortable.....leaning into the Lord and not being of the world even when others may think you are weird. We don't do Disney for MANY reasons or witchcraft or so many other things. I think you are incredible for the stances you are taking publicly. I wish I had friends like you who I could chat with about deep important topics. I feel like my greatest responsibility is leading my children to Christ and setting the best example I can, after all, they are my most precious gifts.💕
This is why this online community of moms is so special to me! We can support one another even if we don’t have that “in real life” ♥️♥️♥️

I have felt this way for a long time. The first time I went to Disney World I felt a heaviness in my spirit. I felt that I had to correct was being taught, especially in their movies.
Yes! Unpopular opinion: I have no desire to ever bring my kids to my kids to Disney

Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and opinions. I have Personally felt conviction about some of these and I hear from Christian mommas all the time that my kids are going to see these things eventually or read these and I’m here to say STAND FIRM. We aren’t to be conformed to society. We are to stand out and shine bright and when we neglect what the enemy tries to put before our eyes, we become brighter and brighter.
Our spirit knows truth. Whether one is convicted now or down the road, this seed was planted and I can’t thank you enough girl!

Thank you for this conversation, Christina. We really do need God's wisdom and discernment. We need Him 🙏. And, we are called to be in the world and not 'of' it, so we shouldn't feel bad about not going along with things that others go along with.

Thank you for having the courage to speak up and encourage us to discern how the Holy Spirit is speaking to us. We haven’t done Disney or Harry Potter. We did read the Chronicles of Narnia a couple years ago and my kids loved it, but I can now see how that could be questionable too. So much to ponder! Praying for all of us as we walk through what is right for our families.

@@RootedHomeLife The only subscription we have for our kids is Minno. They have Veggie Tales, The Jesus Storybook Bible animated, and literally HUNDREDS of other Christian-friendly shows and family devotions. Our oldest is only about to turn 3 so we haven't explored all of it yet but the few shows he watches he absolutely adores!

Thank you so much for this video. I feel exactly where you are. Very strong on things like Harry Potter, and yet undecided on some things that seem like grey areas. It's hard to navigate in this culture we live in. It almost feels like trying to navigate a minefield. But, maybe it's more like a walk of faith, trusting that God will clearly speak to us when we wander into danger territory IIIIFFFF we have ears to hear and an open heart to the Holy Spirit's voice. I’ve been feeling very convicted about things that my son tends to gravitate towards, such as villains in superhero movies- that he hasn’t even watched! 🤦🏽♀️ I’m finding it so difficult to manage these convictions as they relate to our family as my husband is not a Christian. I will continue to pray🙏

Thank you for this! We have been wrestling with the idea of harry potter because our 11 year old is getting pressured to read it by a cousin. My husband and I both were not allowed to read or watch it as kids but watched the movies as adults and they are very dark. But then always struggled with the fact that I was allowed to watch all of the lord of the rings and it seems like a double standard. But harry potter is much more black and white as you said and marketed towards such young kids.

Thank you for sharing this video. More Christians have to do the same and stand up for what is right. We believe in Christ, and He is Light! There’s no darkness in Him. So why TRY and mix it. It can’t even be mixed anyway. You’re either of God or not. The Bible says ““The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!”
Matthew 6:22-23 ESV
Watching (even listening things like music) things that don’t please God nor brings glory to Him, we shouldn’t be part of. Our body is the temple of The Holy Spirit. He doesn’t want and CAN’T be a part of evil - that’s when we feel the conviction. Him pulling us away from those things.

I feel the same way mama... Disney was so part of my childhood... my kids personally don't like Disney so I didn't push it bc it's laid heavy on my heart bc sometimes we want to watch that Disney movie. I once put on the little mermaid back when Nicholas was like 4... he took one look at Ursula and he freaked out... something that looked so normal to us growing up ... now looking at it I see how evil it is. And like you said we really have to pray and ask for guidance and seek holy things... and give it to God... you nailed it!
We don't do Harry Potter, Narnia etc I know it's really popular but God has laid it on my heart ... like you said. We have to be prayerful ❤

I knew there was a reason why god put up a blocker anytime my mind wondered about Harry Potter. He redirects me every time. When I was in jr high our teacher had the first book as a class read. Even back then it was fuzzy getting into the story. I probably didn’t get a good grade in that assignment.

100% agree with your stance on all of this and everything you said is Bible based. Also contemplating about the novel. We let our boys read it but I am more aware now. Allegory or not, I’m not sure it’s appropriate. And we have also enjoyed Encanto but I wish we had not watched it. You can rarely find a kids movie without magic these days. It’s so difficult to find appropriate content. Have you tried pureflix? I don’t want another subscription service but it may be worth it.
