I think that line on its own is very funny, and pretty relatable. However, within the context of the song (a drake parody) there's a juxtaposition in wanting to show your partner how much you care about them in celebration of an anniversary, while also demanding they do work for their gift (one they most likely never asked for), and that they do it alone despite having anxiety surrounding technology. It's a bit ironic, that's why it's funny. The whole song is about minor relationship problems, but highlighting details where people can become hypocritical, jaded, or inconsiderate of their partners over time.

@@filiporvik2782 yeah, im guessing he thought it came off as if he wasnt completely isolated for covid in one room and had his partner with him, which probably wasn’t the vibe he wanted to go with

I think introducing any other character into it that he's directly interacting with ruins that narrative. Oddly enough, I think even introducing a spider into the equation ruins that narrative in a certain way.
I agree. Although Bo didn't actually experience complete isolation and loneliness during the pandemic given that he lives with his girlfriend and has friends, a dog, and what I can assume is a fairly large house, I think his point was that depression and anxiety can make you feel alone and isolated even when you aren't literally alone. Good stuff.
@@isaaclehmann1729 It’s still not direct interaction. There’s FaceTiming with the parents too, but it still keeps the narrative that he’s been completely alone during the whole thing.

“Still you, still me, still here” is such a wonderful line… borders between a romantic and adversarial tone, and really elegantly encloses the message of the song.
@@Gush27 I think it’s a fair analysis of the line? The song is trying to counter mainstream portrayals of relationships found in popular songs by speaking of small, personal quarrels between the singer and his partner instead of some big sweeping, general statement about how much they love each other and how perfect everything is. I found it cool that the particular line I commented about bordered between the “romantic” or “adversarial” tone because it implies that the disagreements they get in are just as important a part of their romantic relationship, so in that way it “encloses the message of the song.” I’m not a Bo fan at all, as this is the first song I’ve heard by him… I’m sorry to hear there is stigma about Bo fans misinterpreting or over-analyzing his songs, and I am sorry that I am playing into that and contributing to the perceived cringe of the fanbase in your eyes and turning you away from the song. I feel this way about a lot of the outtakes. They're just as funny and well-made but perhaps didn't fit with the rest of the show. For this one I think it's the depiction of physical interaction with another person, which contradicts the theme of isolation and loneliness.
They way his rhymes are so masterful (“wanted dim sum then” with “gotten some when”) then he rhymes “bathroom” with “bathroom” six times at the end. He is so freaking talented but never takes himself too seriously and I love that
He takes himself very seriously. Listen to "All Eyes on Me", notably the part where he's sharing why he stopped doing shows. Then go listen to the Kanye rant video and listen to the second half of the song.

The "dim sum" and "got-ten some" lines are pure, galaxy-brained, lyrical genius.
bro acting like a 3 syllable rhyme has never been made before this 😭
I'm not 100% sure, but I lean on the side of thinking that the lyric is "You really should have got in some, when we put in the order".

0:32 THE FAN STOPPED UNPERFECTLY
This song is a total troll and am here for it
They way his rhymes are so masterful (“wanted dim sum then” with “gotten some when”) then he rhymes “bathroom” with “bathroom” six times at the end. He is so freaking talented but never takes himself too seriously and I love that
Tbf he is rhyming the word before bathroom each time. Poo, blue, guestroom, two.
The enitre spider rant, and then just... *bathroom.*
He takes himself very seriously. Listen to "All Eyes on Me", notably the part where he's sharing why he stopped doing shows. Then go listen to the Kanye rant video and listen to the second half of the song.

I know he's a comedian, but he could seriously crush it if he was producing pop music. Everything he makes is catchy as FUK
I'd say he's a hybrid between a comedian and an musician tbh since he writes and uses a lot of songs with deeper meanings in his shows, so I'd say don't label him and keep an open mind on his works, as he's truly an artist

I thought Mother Mother was unbeatable when they rhymed "fire" with "fire" in their Wisdom. But Bo Burnham literally threw them off with his imagination and variety, rhyming three "dumplings" and five "bathrooms" in a row, this is XXI age poetry.
i love your comment so much haha
listen to sparrow by big thief if you like this kind of silly rhymes
At this point its a lyrical thing on its own, repeating the same word at the end of a line but each line makes sense still, kinda cool to me
He's parodying Drake. In "God's Plan" he rhymes "me" with "me" at least nine times. Like, in a row.
The rhyme is just the "ooo" sound within the lines, not at the end lol. "Poo", "you", "blue", "use", "guest room"
