I first Discovered Arknights because of "Speed of Light" From Code of Brawl PV. It's Really give an Impression of Cute Anime Girl ( With Really Cool Design) going on a Exciting Adventure. Man... Its To Bad i only Got Texas, Bison is Present but he's only a Part-timer.
Honestly what got me into Arknights was the music, not even so much the gameplay (though I still love that too). I actually find the "join and get __ pulls!" ads to be garbage tier. You see it so often with tiny games trying to pick at scraps. As a customer, I love when they just use animations and music videos as advertisements, even if there isn't much context to actual gameplay. It makes me think: "Wow, this looks like a lot of effort, and it looks unique. I wonder what the game is actually like." Basically even without context, if it looks clean and good, that's what gets people to do a little research on their own. The whole point is to hook the viewer, not get them settled into gameplay immediately. That's the tutorial's job. For example: If they just used the Near Light event trailer as a skippable ad, I think it would go crazy. It doesn't show off the gameplay necessarily, but sets a tone and an expectation for quality. It also sets it apart from every other ad on youtube that's just soulless gameplay or download rewards. I tend to watch the 2 minute trailer ads for games like that because they're actually cool and interesting. My favorite ad that I've personally gotten from Arknights is still the Speed of Light MV though.
Sometime i think it's just better to leave the ad to the community content creator, because god damn almost none of these ad make me interested in Arknight
Need more memes. Use Suzuran and Ho`olheyak as bait for coomers, show some endgame gameplay CC/Pinch-out with high-risk to show pure suffering, Vifer-Scamfer for gacha footage, kyaa-Skadi, 1-7 grind meme, and one epic scene in the end like with Patriot m8be to show fragment of the main story. And all of this in 15-20 seconds. Ad should feel like roller-coaster of emotions full of content, and not like an old lady trying to sell bakery on the street
Ok, but, Asbestos is the Best-os. I think the worst part about some of these ads is the fact that, despite Monster Siren Records existing AND having some AMAZING music, they choose to use generic unrelated music and songs for some of these ads. Like really, Advertise how good the Arknights OST and non-ost character songs are, use CC music, anything arknights related.
I remember that I picked my interest in Arknights after I saw their ads on Facebook in 2020. They were sponsored posts of PVs of Grani event (I think) and Code of Brawl. I was like "huh, this game looks cool, might try it some time into future" Ultimately it took me 2 more years to actually start playing the game but still I liked those ads very much and they had a huge role in convincing me to play it. It's weird that they don't promote their PVs or teasers more because they have very big potential, and I don't understand why they don't promote them in any way on UA-cam, prefering to just release low or mid quality ads
ok watching further in and it seems that cessith is rating on the standard of a review? bruh no, reviews people seek out ads are intrusive, an ad has 1 MAX 2 seconds before the person swipes off or ignores it. THAT is your pitch time, the rest of the ad is ONLY if you manage to hook people in that first second. please first think about the medium your critiquing not just liken it to something your familiar with. note im not defending the ads there were plenty of trash ones but of all of them, the second i think does a lot of right things, 4/5
im only 2 minutes in so maybe someone in stream points this out but one thing to consider is where the ads are being played. lets say its youtube ads, what are people doing on youtube, listening to their own shit. "hey this game you can do this and that and its really cool" is the worst kind of ad you can have because your disrupting someone elses flow. that is the most important part you want people too actually listen not tune out from resentment on the other hand music can be very good BUT has caveats, for example lets say someone rocking it out to music while doing a chore and some sweet music comes up, if they dont want that its "SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SKIP SKIP SKIP!!!!" tho thats mostly for corporate sounding shit i find there is 2 things that you want for game ads, smooth but attention grabbing music, fiesta music for example is great. show gameplay but eye catching gameplay that looks cool. and finally MINIMAL TALKING, ironically you can get away with it if its langauge the person doesnt understand cause thats background noise, thats the juice you want the ad to be background noise as much as possible so that it doesnt disrupt the persons flow as for talk in say english, you want to communicate theres actual passion, a soul per say TLDR: the second ad is pretty good 4/5 btw whats 5/5? second ad with less talking but you know what also works really well, silence.... no really
It’s a pity there were no ads with “gamers” who directly shout “wow, this game is amazing”, like in other mobile games. At least one of these ads (where some guy parodying Pewdiepie yells how his Silverash destroys an entire map that is not in the game and looks like the one from the tutorial) greatly piss me of, but at the same time introduced me to this wonderful game.
Can I just say that the standards have been set so low? Like the first "5/5" ad sounds like something that a youtuber would say for a sponsorship that he doesnt actually care about
I think anything that at least showcase the battle gameplay (or at least fight scenes) is much better... For me, before I played AK, when I watch those cutesy animation or music videos (and the notoriously weird and bad acting ads), it just isn't that interesting, it just doesn't stand out from other games (they all have cute/attractive characters), it's just meh and non descriptive of the game they're advertising, so I usually just skip and never checked the app. But when I saw an ad that showed the gameplay, and some character moves that's super cool or looks fancy, also because of the unusual gameplay (doesn't seem to be boring like other regular gacha games), I checked it out and played it (until now).
honestly its still pretty bad. saying that, i think its pretty tricky to market ak. this discussion has made me question what really entices people to try it out, if anything at least i can say that ak tried, just feels like they can do better. as for saying you need to show the gameplay, i somewhat disagree, from how i understand it, those ads with anime and character scenes, theyre more for people that might want that more than the gameplay. theyre casting a wider net.
What do you think about the new ads?

Best AK ad, period.

agreed, there are is so much that is trying to be sold to us nowadays
showing some genuine passion goes so much further then a sales pitch ever could
I agree, it's why I am so surprised that for some unknown reason, a ton of their ads don't use MSR music.
13:20 isnt that a short from the official channel?
18:10 thats also just part of the 4th anni animation
Same with 20:40

they really should do a 1P relay video ad, those clears are always epic and chaotic
The best ads are still fanart as backgrounds in Nightcore Videos.
Thats at least what got me in.
I haven't gotten an Arknights ad in my life.
