A summer friday afternoon at Clapham still playing host to the slam door emu's the last 73's on the Gatwick's and the new 460 'darth vader' units coming on stream.
Look closely, the 4VEP coming into shot at 06:45 is none other than the last surviving complete unit 3417 before it got painted in the celebrity blue livery
Crazy how that view up to London at 9:00 has changed so much since (and continues to change). Now there are glass skyscrapers everywhere

Wonderful video. The station announcements have most certainly improved since then ;) love classic rail action
Jacob walters Yes it was my early camera but it certainly gets all of the atmosphere from back then.
Wonderful video for this old video
oo la...I have no recollection of the chord off the Wimbledon main into the adjacent coach yard there
The Clapham Junction from my childhood
Somewhere there's some more yes but what date im not sure. If I un earth it I'll upload.
Nice to see some 442s in there. Vader's have gone but the pigs have survived.
+ieie yup. 73s now work the test trains and RHTTs in Sussex though so still widely used :-)
The bigs have gone as well now.
Mixture of announcers including Phil Sayers and Robert Lister + 2 female announcers
any more footage of Clapham or Wimbledon from this long ago?
When did they start using Phil Sayer's voice at Clapham Junction?
Dayskipper it was around then. Before that it was the Robert lister announcements which sounded very posh. I think celia has replaced Phil now though
4:28 why did the 442s used to make that sound whilst idling at the station?
If you mean the sound of a mad pigeon it's the air compressor.
@@tinsley.tmd.41a52 i see cheers.great to see the gat ex with the 73 and 489 still in intercity colours whilst the coaches had new colours
I miss the old Stagecoach livery.
Door on the catch at 8:46 guard must have been in a hurry
Shame all u see how are endless 377s
ed harris the 450s and 444s are more common since the 377s are with SN and SWT/SWR are more common at CLJ
