    The wildlife park
n 1961, measures were taken to protect the site of the wooded hill of Boine, the rocks of Faule and Griffaloux, the Gulf of Belvaux and the Chavée and the dry valley of the Lesse. Two parts were thus created: the Boine massif on one side and the "Chavée" or old bed of the Lesse with the forests that surround it on the other side.
Since July 13, 1970, this area of about 250 hectares on the hill above the Caves of Han and the old valley of the Lesse has been set up as a wildlife park. This indigenous wildlife park is located on the Boine Massif , which is home to the Caves of Han . The Domain of the Caves of Han has owned these places for more than a hundred years.
In the past it was decided to release native animals, especially those belonging to the temperate regions of Western Europe. These species have become accustomed to the environment and can reproduce as in their natural environment.
Within the wildlife park, around twenty different animal species can be viewed by safari car in addition to the flora present. Cattle grids, impassable to animals, ensure that the safari vehicles can circulate freely between these areas. The safari car also provides an explanation about the different animal species it passes by. The safari car leaves in the village, opposite the tram stop to the cave.
    Animals found include:
    Wild boar
    Wolf
    Przewalski's horse
    Wild cat
    Ibex
    Roe
    Eurasian lynx
    Tarpan
    Fallow deer
    Fox
    Alpine chamois
    Sika deer
    Aurochs
    Poitouezel
    Red deer
    Mouflon
    Bison
    Brown bear
    Scottish highland cattle
    Reindeer
    Glutton
    Raccoon dog
    Alpine marmot
    Snowy owl
Some of these animals are part of European endangered species programmes. Since 2012, a hiking trail allows you to visit part of the high part of the game park on foot and you can stay in the trapper's hut, which is just a few meters from the brown bears. The path follows the old panoramic tram route that ran along the rocks of Faule. A second hiking trail opened around July 2014, allowing tourists to observe animals and nature up close on the plains.
