Been using one for about 2 months now. Came down from a 13 pro max because I got tired of the huge size in my pocket. Phone works surprisingly great in 2024 using the 128gb model with a new battery. Only problem that arises is when you want to multi task then the phone does struggle and start to have hip ups. And for that reason I am switching go an iPhone 13 mini. But If you’re on a budget this is a great option just make sure you put in a new battery.
This was the first iPhone that I actually daily drove; I loved it. I have so many good memories with it. It was the perfect size, and I found that the battery life was good enough. I've since switched to Android, though the 13 mini did tempt me.
Still using this phone as a work phone. I justt replaced the battery today. Before replacing the battery, it was 58%. It performs surprisingly well and the battery life is… ok. Not pro-max level but it can last a day of normal usage.
Definitely one of my favorite phones...I still use mine today even though I have an iPhone 13 mini as well...just couldn't get myself to sell or get rid of the SE that is perfectly fine...other than the battery life of course, which I can just replace.
I have a 64gb model that I replaced the battery in last year that I've been using basically like an iPod ever since. It has been working perfectly for me and I could still put my SIM card in it if I ever needed to. It went to iOS 15.7 when iOS 16 came out and has had 12 security updates since then putting it up to 15.8.2
I recently tried to go back down from my iPhone 12 mini to an iPhone SE 2016. Only one thing stood in my way: my Apple Watch. I use an Apple Watch SE, which is, funnily, incompatible with my iPhone SE 2016. Other than that, I could probably have done everything on the SE. Problem is how tedious it is to move apps and logins, as well as relogging in. If I get rid of my Apple Watch, nothing is really stopping me from going back to it. Battery life has always been an issue for small phones, but considering I already have a 20,000mAh battery, plus a battery phone case, I'm not really in a deficiency for charge. My only qualm with my SE: it's a second hand I bought, so the screen has micro scratches, the housing has some dents..Might spend some money and buy another housing, a new display, downgrade myself. Idk, future plans. I'm glad this video popped up on my main UA-cam page, just another place to voice opinions.
Yeah, I guess having some deformities is part of the fun of having an older phone. Interesting to know that your apple watch isn't compatible with the SE
@@dumbcomputing I think it's maybe due to the watchOS being of a later version, I looked it up and it did say the watchOS had to be earlier than like, 8? So makes sense. I guess I can agree on some deformities contributing to the age factor of the phone, but then again, it's always nice to try and keep a phone clean, and watch it 'deform' along with you. Hence why people occasionally swap out parts, change housings or displays. It is a grand expenditure, but it overall builds value in one's heart.
The SEs 1, 2 and 3 have been and still are important for the 10% of people that can’t use OLED due to PWM. Very sad to hear the SE 4 is going to be OLED 😒
Cool vid. i remember my friends having these, i was using... uh hell i don't recall now XD But i never was a fan of Apple.. well anything. But i will give them this, The Camera's on the Phones are top notch. That being said, i got tired of all the Crap and bloat on smart phones, and started using a Flip phone again. nice not having a notification every 3-5 minutes
I hear ya about the crap and bloat of a smartphone, it's really annoying and infuriating. I've been using phones with LineageOS and turn the notifications off for all apps except calls and texts. While a fliphone or dumbphone isn't for me (i've tried) using a good simple launcher and disabling notifications for everything non essiental is super helpful.
@@dumbcomputing Understandable. but as i said the other vid, I grew up using a Bullet Proof Nokia, so a flip phone isn't a big deal :D Can't wait to see what ya next Vid is yo
Yep you can get WhatsApp - it’s installed and working on mine. The only issue is that i had to install google keyboard because the iOS keyboard doesn’t have an enter key that works for registering with WhatsApp and unfortunately the app is now made for bigger screens so it was impossible to register my number unless I installed the google keyboard to literally hit “enter” after I typed in my number. Aside from that, no issues at all
well, for me it have the most beautifull design in a phone, but the problem that you didn't mention is about the battery... it's very small
that true, it is very small. i should have mentioned that :)
turn off stepcounter and health services, saves like 50%, it's insane, battery is still pretty good.

exactly
I still have my OG SE. I have an SE 1, SE 3, and 15 Plus
SE is one of the most interesting line of iPhones. Perhaps it's simplicity?

Yeah. the formfactor was perfect, this to me was really peak smartphone. I do prefer android but the design of this phone is just too damn cool

Well i still using this iphone SE, performance is good i guess, for messaging and video recording is 👌🏽
it does the job
New iphone se can also be cheap through some prepaid carriers...
If you find a carrier with good unlock policy it can be a good deal..
that's an option

battery is the biggest downside for this, but with the price you can get these for it might not be that big of a deal
Awesome video. Guess more obsolete phones are only really useful for making calls (specifying those made after the 3g days)
thanks for your support :)

yeah, i forgot to mention apple still putting out security updates on occasion
@@dumbcomputing that was definitely a good video. I really enjoyed it
I do the same thing with mine. I’ve tried using it as my main phone but some of the calls don’t come through and the gps doesn’t work properly.
I had one of these for a year. I used it constantly, and it was great!!
simplicity of it is key

I have samsung a21s
would you recommend iphone se 1 for 2024 and 2025 insted of my phone ?
i just use camera ,WhatsApp and tiktok
I'm not familiar with the a21s. If that works fine for you now and your just using those apps, I don't see why you would need to get another phone.
The whole smartphone thing has passed me by so I find this stuff very interesting.
for sure, it's like a weird form of recent history
Watching on iPhone 5s no issues.

yeah, i wasn't aware of that but that makes sense. thanks for the info
I have this phone with 128 gb, It's on IOS 15 and I get the security updates
Yeah. 128GB was a lot when this came out. My OnePlus 9 has 128GB and it seems like it doesn't have enough space.
Love that phone to.
