Is no one talking about our guy, Rich, who’s appeared in all 3 chapters? Rich so conveniently gets handed this “new role” after being demoted and thinking everyone is out to get him.
Let us not forget, that the head of the Prototype sculpture that Catnap is praying to, is an adult skeleton of a construction worker, hands bound.
Rich’s previous job title is a construction worker. He complained in the vhs, employees should be about to interact with the kids to support them. The first thing the prototype does when he escapes? He interacts with a kid..

@@nicolestole right? I’ve been ruminating here- like why would being the most disliked employee make him the perfect candidate for being the Prototype? Think about it, they can’t let him go. He knows too much, but they couldn’t bare him complaining and they might have seized a very perfect opportunity to start the Bigger Bodies Project with non’other than Rich. Because who would miss him?
On top of that, it’s important to note, that the prototype seems to know how the entire layout of the company and how it operates. He knows how to open the facility doors, navigate through the main concentrated and abandoned areas throughout the entire facility. Every detail, down to the tea. He knows enough, he’s seen enough and to occupy his time while imprisoned in his cell, he studied the personalities of his captives and manipulated their voice to bypass security procedures. Like it’s all too perfect.

The term is down to a ( T ) because you make sure to cross your ( T ) and dot your ( i ) when writing. It refers to going back over your writing, making sure you didn't miss any details.
I find this protagonist so funny because you know something is after you and you’re probably in horrific danger but he’s just stomping about like the loudest elephant

man, the way that in catnaps final moments, prototype (i think?) seemingly reaches its hand out, and catnap thinking he’s going to be saved by his divine saviour musters up his last bit of strength to get on his knees in reverence , only to me stabbed by the very hand that gave him a second chance to begin with. UGH so good!! the animation in poppy playtime has always been next level, but the improved atmosphere and storytelling of this chapter made that final scene all the more impactful!
Another interpretation I heard was that catnap knew he would be killed and used, and gave himself willinginly to his "god". I thought it was weird that catnap didn't seem to struggle after being stabbed and put his hands out almost in sacrifice rather than reaching for the hand because even after the brain is damaged it can still function for a short time (so there should have been a struggle if catnap had been taken by surprise as he would have if he thought he was being given another chance)...until my friend told me his interpretation. Catnap cares so much for the prototype and its motives that catnap willingly gave himself to be used for the cause after failing the prototype.
and the lore in it is pretty good too. Very complex

I’ve seen a lot of videos where she doesn’t move when the lights flicker but the first playthrough I saw she did move when the lights flickered.
Her movement has been nerfed by Mob Games, she now only moves when you're not looking at her.

i know it’s p obvious but i just find it so creepy that from 2:05:47 until the hallucination is done that is you BEING THERE DURING THE HOUR OF JOY. that is Huggy in his signature pose, followed by alarms, screaming, and HUGGY MISSING FROM HIS SPOT. that WAS the hour of joy.
(edit: yes i know the MC wasn’t there during the hour of joy but that doesn’t mean they can’t hallucinate it. they’re tripping balls on catnap’s red gas, who definitely WAS there during the hour of joy. i think it’s more like giving us a first person view of it. i know they weren’t there, but the MC still saw it in the first person view nonetheless)

i mean, just imagine running around blindly in such a dark place lit by only red lights. all you can hear is alarms and agonizing screaming, crying, and most likely pleading. you know that eventually that will be you, too, but you try to hide or run anyways. only to inevitably be found by one of the toys, wether that was soon after you hid or possibly hours after when you finally felt safe enough to move. not only that, but if you did survive for longer than others, you’d have to traverse a place once full of joy now covered in blood and corpses. lost body parts scattering the floor of people YOU KNEW. not to mention the smell. god, it would’ve smelled terrible if you were alive for a while. if i were in that situation, i’d envy the people that died first.
I think the point of it, though, is that you weren't there during the Hour of Joy. That's why it asks "do you know why we're doing this? Do you know what happened here? No, you don't." Because you weren't there for that.
You can also see a blurry figure with spider esque limbs and a quite creepy and even more blurry looking face, which is probably prototype _(or maybe daddy longlegs like some others theorize but I doubt it since his carboard thingy makes the same noise as the others who are confirmed dead)_
The whole point is that your character WASN'T there during The Hour of Joy though
Our character wasn't there for the Hour of Joy, it happened like ten years or so before the game starts. At the beginning of the game, before our character arrives at the factory, they receive a note talking about the supposed disappearance of their former coworkers, that's referencing the Hour of Joy.
Guys, this commenter isn't saying that the player was there during the Hour of Joy, but we see the player experience witnessing the Hour of Joy as if they were there when they were tripping on the red gas. (It seems pretty obvious, but that's what they're saying.) And yes, all of that is so horrifying! This is a very good game, in my opinion, for the story to spark such strong emotions. When you are so captivated by a story you start to put yourself into it and empathize with the characters - that is why I love games like this! I can even empathize with characters like CatNap, and sometimes even the Prototype. But the innocent workers who were all massacred, that is just on a different level.

Ludwig's orphanage is giving "Promised Neverland" vibes where the orphans are being raised up to be "harvested" or in this case, turned into living toys. Methinks those little Ewok things were actually the smallest children while the other living toys are older kids with more fleshed out personalities.
thought of TPN as well! personally i found the play care section super unsettling, cause when you think of it: kids with no homes are brought here only to end up dying to the horrible hands of someone who is twisted 😭
The Promised Neverland was a Hella good Manga. Never got into the anime for the same reason I tend not to get into movies after I've read the books. Love the reference though! ^^

It’s kind of funny that Huggy and Mommy want you dead no questions asked but Miss Delight and Catnap at least ask you to leave first

25:45 not so fun fact. that “snoring” is horrific when you know what it’s called and what it means. It’s Agonal breathing. They sound almost like snoring, snorting or gasping, it could also sound like the person is moaning. it’s not actually true breathing. It's a natural reflex that happens when your brain is not getting the oxygen it needs to survive. It adds to the state Susan must be in. It shook me to my core. It’s such an “iykyk” moment and I love it. It’s usually a sign that the heart is no longer circulating oxygenated blood OR there’s an interruption of lung activity that’s reducing oxygen intake. It can last for a very short time, or it can last for HOURS. It means that CatNap/Theodore was genuinely the closest to death that a person could ever be which tells you just how severe the injury was and why CatNap views The Prototype as his god.
EDIT - YES you may have seen this comment on a couple other posts, here is my explanation as I keep getting comments. “yes 😅 if you look at it, you can see that it was posted by me. You might also find it on a couple of other posts. (Including the latest episode of the walten files as theres AG breathing in there too). I wanted to share it around because I haven’t seen anyone else have this find and I think it’s a really niche thing. @@austinpowers1061 im pretty sure their point is that because a little boy called theo was electrocuted and put inside catnap to save his life, that he was on the brink of his death which meant the agonal breathing was just how catnap sounded when he took a breath. they might seem like robots but the toys have the children's brain and nervous system inside, thats why theyre alive. :)

2:25:30 It’s so much scarier when you watch back through it and realize something: Huggy didn’t just start attacking people, he specifically targets the people closest to the exit, then turns around and chases the rest of them INTO the factory where there’s no escape.
They didn’t just all flip a switch and start killing at the same time, this was PLANNED.
I don’t think it was planned by the toys but I do think the prototype planned this since he’s implied to be incredibly smart

Or it’s as simple as their experiments (also huggy is like the only toy with teeth that we’ve interacted with so the experiment probably went wrong and he was given teeth) just theorising but yeah that is a good question
They’re living organisms it seems. They have a capacity to think, learn, and strategize. Huggy lures the protagonist to follow him by placing his hand on the wall.
Poppy and Mommy speak fluent English and have their own personalities. Mommy is a control freak. Poppy is empathetic. Kissy is/was grieving. Catnap has similar mannerisms to an actual wild cat. (Staring down prey, pouncing, playing with prey)
I’d consider them organic experiments.

I don’t care if this isn’t actually Cannon, it’s cannon to me, Jack is the player especially since it would make sense, Jacks character saw something and they didn’t believe him so to me the player is Jack.

Each player is a different employee that, for whatever reason in that timeline, wasn't there during the massacre and as such have different levels of knowing what's going on.
Jack is the most "canon" given he has a full name and log to his story, but each player is no less than the others.
So yes, Jack technically _is_ the player and you are free to believe as such!
in the hour of joy tape, we see all of the employees that were killed so I think that some of the employees had a sick day or couldn’t be there that day for a reason and each time we die, we play as a new former employee that just wasn’t killed during the hour of joy

There's no way "Ollie" isn't the Prototype mimicking a child it killed, which we know it can do. "Ollie" is too chipper. They compliment the Prototype offhandedly about how it saved CatNap, and refer to Playcare as evil - which we can obviously see as the palyer, but someone who's obstinately a 10-year-old probably wouldn't comprehend the magnitude of what's going on here. I strongly doubt some random kid would both know about a pile of corpses, specifically describe it as a shrine, and see if it scared the player character. It seems to know an awful lot about CatNap's hunting behavior and describes it in horror-movie terms. And wasn't the mass murder 10 years ago? If so, then why does a survivor of that event still sound 10 years old?
This sounds like something that would be apart of the story soon
Even if Ollie isn't the prototype, he most likely is a toy, hence why he sounds 10 years old and why he knows what went down 10 years ago.
How is there no way he isn't. Poppy acts like she knows him. You're basing this assumption on the alternative that he's a human boy and not, you know, a living toy?

Still, it could be the Prototype imitating another toy. It could be another toy in league with the Prototype. Even if you don't assume it's a child the rest of it still all very suspicious.
Ollie may be the Prototype, but he may also literally be a toy phone.

The weirdest thing is that the smiling critters are actually vaguely cute in their cartoon designs, but their eyes and smiles are just a _little_ too eerie for me to be comfortable with saying they _are definitely_ cute.. You can tell they were designed to be freaky and uncanny valley levels of "almost cute".
i feel like the black eyes were overdoing it. i like the idea of playtime co making toys that are ever-so-slightly uncanny, but their big-ass toothless grins would've done that well enough on its own i think

@@Fivreld i dont think so, i think he's the one that retire and give his role to richie, that guy was very lucky to retire at the perfect time. He come back years later to find his co-worker, richie, and what happened to him. I guess if richie give the role as a scientist in the tape where the first time we meet the little smiling critters, maybe the player were a scientist too.

I love the little subtle information in the level design... This place was build from the ground up to exploit orphans as you can see at 1:04:24 the room Jack is in has weird windows that made me question the level design... like... why would there be windows but then I saw the burning from the racecar and it hit me... those are one way mirrors that can even look through the wallpaper.. so its not erally a mirror but rather one way wallpaper... man.. I might not find it as scary as others... but I can most definitely appreciate the amount of work the devs put in this game...
tl;dr At mentioned timeframe are one way windows to look into the childrens bedrooms and that level of level design is awesome! (Its another way to tell a story)

My Poppy Playtime Lore Theory:
Our protagonist is Harley Sawyer or someone important that had something to do with the experiments:
In chapter 2 we go down a slide that brings us to a room. When we turn around we see 4 slides. 3 visible names of the heads of the innovation team and 1 completely purposely covered and ruined with the letters of the name everywhere on the floor. I believe it’s our protagonist’s name. (Still haven’t seen someone try to make a name out of the letters)
In chapter 3 The Hallways with the radio talking about a dead body of a child found outside the premises of the facility in a muffled bag with missing bones, spine and organs is actually what I suspect our protagonists doing before escaping the facility and leaving the bag to be found (because of our guilt) so people could realize what was going on in the facility. Catnap is the only creature with bones and a very visible Spine. He was the kid found in the muffled bag. The place is structured the same as in the infamous horror game ‘Silent Hill PT.’ It’s way to hint to us that this is our protagonist having PTSD going on having guilt trip while hallucinating his actions. The kids pictures are hallucinations of the children our protagonist knew and eventually transformed into toys. The prototype is making us experience the horrors that we created guiding us through the facility with VSH Tapes he purposely placed, using Poppy, and making us undo all our wrong doing making us kill all the toys/horrors we created along the way.
Who and what is the Prototype?:
The Prototype might be an amalgamation of different kids and employees. (Elliot Ludwig too) The same employees they wanted to get rid of. That explains the skeleton with the construction worker’s helmet. Catnap was tasked by the prototype to put Poppy in stasis with the poppy gas to keep her safe during the “Hour of joy” therefore not being able to do anything and listening to all the horrors while under the gas and vividly hallucinating everything. A Horrible Experience as she describes.
We find hung toys in catnap cell, and later on we see him scooping up a small Bunzo Bunny. It was Catnap who hung all the toys around the facility and outside poppy’s room, warning other toys not to get in that room therefore protecting Poppy from the the toys going berserk during the Hour of joy, as the Prototype asked. (He even placed the prototype’s introduction tape outside of her room).
In Chapter 3 we can find some “Baby Cots”. The baby infants that disappeared got transformed into the small smiling critters that later crawl towards the player just like babies because they never got taught to walk.
Poppy’s Angel:
When Dogday refers to us as “Poppy’s Angel” because Poppy calls us like that, I think she is implying we are the Angel of death. In certain horror stories the Angel of death is attributed to serial killers or Surgeons (Doctors) Just like i suspect our protagonist, Harley Sawyer or a cruel surgeon that took part in the experiments.
At the end of chapter 3, Poppy and the prototype, lead us down to the Laboratories or as someone found out going through cut files, a “Prison” (a sign was found in beta version) she needs us down there “to kill the prototype”. We know the prototype was held in a cell, But how would the prototype still be trapped down there if the vault was sealed shut and we see him roam around the whole facility through all the chapters following us? Very suspicious. I think she and the prototype might be planning to bring us to the laboratories and use our body as a vessel (Just like in FNAF when our body gets scooped and occupied by the amalgamation, the prototype is an amalgamation too and he might be scooping the toys as Mommy Longlegs says to “make me part of him” so he can make everyone finally escape in a human body.) that’s why Poppy says: “we need you”.
The Protagonist’s PTSD:
The Screams we hear from pressings the buttons on the cardboard cutouts, might be flashbacks or some form of ptsd from when the protagonist was experimenting (transforming) the kids into the “smiling critters” while they where still conscious. We know that the gas triggered some memories and flashbacks visually and audible too. that explains why the smiling critters are talking directly to the protagonist. I think since the beginning of the game the cardboards don’t actually work and in reality they all Buzz or glitch like some that we find malfunctioning. The ones we are able to hear is because our PTSD triggers and flashbacks of the children our protagonist directly Experimented on. The Buzz or glitching of some cardboards is because our protagonist didn’t experiment on them and therefore it doesn’t trigger ptsd or direct memories that makes our protagonist hallucinate voices because we didn’t have direct connection with those experiments or children. The cardboard talking directly to us was a big clue.
Kissy Missy’s death and the return of Huggy Wuggy:
In Chapter 3 Kissy Missy turned blue for a good moment when she first catches us before being stopped by Poppy in chapter 3. It was a very weird purposely lighting color change.
I strongly believe that this is Mob Games hinting at us that Kissy was going to get killed by Huggy Wuggy. He’s back, he never died. Huggy has always been stalking us since the beginning of chapter 1. He crawls through vents to peek at the player (most people don’t notice this detail while playing) In chapter 2 you can find his “Furr”and blood next to some vents and walls. In the end of chapter 3 You can clearly hear Huggy’s jumpscare/attack scream. Kissy was not designed to be dangerous as Huggy Wuggy. Huggy was designed to be a Security System, meant to kill and have those sharp teeth. I don’t think kissy can even emit a sound or even open her mouth. It’s a bit far stretched but could it be possible that Kissy’s body is going to be used by a badly injured Huggy, to get revenge against us when we least expect it in the next upcoming chapters? (This would explain Kissy Missy’s suspicious color shift)
Who is Ollie?
A mysterious and very suspicious character that sometimes refers as “We” for some reason.
All of us think he’s a surviving kid, but the math doesn’t add up, in the present time, when chapter 3 takes place, he should be 18 years old or more. Then why does he sound like a child? The only explanation is that he is a child in a toy’s body as well. He’s been watching us ever since we turned on the power of the facility in chapter 1. Spying on us through the CCTV cameras we see all around the facility, Opening doors and vents for us. Even back when Huggy Wuggy first chases us through the vent, he was closing doors not to get us killed but to make sure we reached poppy.
In Poppy Playtime Chapter 2 poster shows us the hand of the prototype ‘controlling’ Mommy Long Legs, therefore telling us ‘The Prototype Has Control Over Everything’
"That shrine, did it scare you? If you thought that was terrifying just wait until you see the real thing!" Ollie is admitting that he himself has seen the Prototype. (Because he is part of it)
I strongly believe Ollie is a voice/soul part of the amalgamation of the Prototype.

I never even thought of Ollie being the prototype, but it would make sense, especially since he's somehow able to watch you throughout the game, and we know the prototype seems to have access to the entire factory.

I can assure you Ollie is not CatNap. In a ARG last year, we were told about a young orphan boy named Theodore who was best friends with Prototype. One night, the two tried to escape the factory, but something went wrong. Theo electrocuted himself with the green grabpack hand by accident when trying to open a door. To save him, Prototype sacrificed his freedom to bring the child to medical staff. The doctors saw this as an opportunity because Theo was actually on their list of candidates for one of their Bigger Body toys, CatNap. So, they transferred the boy into the giant purple cat body that can exhale red smoke that puts you to sleep and gives you terrifying nightmares. Because Prototype saved his life, CatNap worships his best friend as a god, which is why he built that shrine and prays to it. He and many others (Huggy, Mommy, Boxy Boo, and more) wanted revenge on the scientists who turned them into monsters, and he knew his master would save them.
They got their revenge during the Hour of Joy, all while Poppy was locked up in her case.
i loved the fact that catnap ended up getting electrocuted again, and that the prototype killed him. such a good paralel to theo's backstory

@@johannulloa5991 Yeah that's what happened. Poppy was locked up in her case during the Hour of Joy, so she had been stuck in there since before it happened by Prototype so she couldn't stop him or help anyone.

When Ollie tells the player at 39:30 that "You need to run" and then Cat Nap is just casually watching you from behind freaked me out so much. This chapter already seems so much scarier than the first two. I can't wait to see the next chapters for the game.
it’s personally so much scarier to me because it’s so much more ominous. in part 1 and 2 you’re being chased but in this part cat nap is stalking you and you turn around he’s just there and disappears suddenly it’s sooo eerie.

Mommy Longlegs and especially the caterpillar from chapter 2 is up there. But CatNap is not the scariest one in chapter 3 for me, it’s actually the teacher that stops walking when you look at it (I forgot the name), because that gave me PTSD flashbacks to the mannequins in the hospital chapter in Little Nightmares 2, the scariest level in any game imo.

Its the fact for me that the connection for poppy flowers FINALLY clicked with me. Since it's been so long for each chapter, I had to rewatch them and this to realize the relevance of the damn Poppy flowers connecting with the Red Smoke. Poppy seeds do induce drowsiness and such, and in the first chapter, a scientist was researching the effects of the poppy flower. This same effect is what Catnap used to help children sleep and now induces his victims into hallucinations or make them sleep. I can't wait for the next chapter to learn more of this!! I find it so fascinating lol
Not only that but the clear reference to poppies growing where massacres have taken place has been hinting at the hour of joy all along!

Not just "plastuc/fabric came alive" they were made to actually be alive. When a kid is chosen to "get a home" they are actually chosen for an experiment of making a live toy. (I hope I am making sense here🥲 Also, this is my understanding of it so it might not be 100% correct, but its pretty much proven that this is the case at this point) That is also why they can eat, because they have functioning organs
I think Ollie is actually Bobby Bearhug. He was one of the only critters that didn't have a death scream on his cutout and he might be using the name Ollie so that the others like CatNap and the prototype don't know he survived. His cutout and Ollie's voice are similar with Ollie's being a little more somber than Bobby's but that could be due to his experience over the last 10 years.
Also when you leave the playhouse, Ollie mentions that he doesn't want to lose anymore friends to this place, seemingly referring to his other critter friends that stood up to the prototype and lost originally which resulted in them dying or so we think.

Ollie is not one of the smiling critters. I believed Ollie might've been Hoppy Hopscotch for a short time, but I just realized after watching this, Poppy calls Ollie "he" instead of "she". Both Bearhug and Hopscotch are girls.
This could be a part of Ollie's disguise if he were to be one of the smiling critters, but I doubt it.

Jack: Cannibalism does apply to anything that eats its own species. Lionesses and female hyenas have both been observed eating their own dead cubs, in order to regain part of the nutrients that they lost birthing the cub. Interestingly enough, birds are one of the only groups of animals where cannibalism is actually a rare occurance in most species. Predatory birds don't hunt and eat members of the same species and nor do scavengers like crows.

One of the coolest spine tingling things in horror is when you’re listening to a voice, saying stuff that would have been prerecorded, and it suddenly changes tone and says something as if watching you or broken from their script. The toy voices on the cut-outs, the guy on the radio, the boy on the phone. Brilliant move, game team!
Such a shame matpat won’t finish theorising the game but hopefully will be tucking into this juicy chapter and backwards radio message!

I love the details of Kissy Missy. She acts and moves so naturally, it’s hard for me to not see her as a person. I really like the part at 1:08:13 where she holds her leg. It’s such a tiny detail, but it’s such a realistic thing that a real person would do. I do that. It’s so surreal to see.
Keep in mind that these creatures were once human in their life. Remember when she is looking at that photo in the bedroom? That might have been who she was before she was experimented on. I love this game yet feel so bad for the kids and employees(the ones who had no idea what was going on that is)

The person you play as used to work at the factory, but seems to be one of the only, if not the only surviving employee, they missed the Hour Of Joy, that's probably what the audio is refering to! And now we have a date for it too! This can be very helpful for people who enjoy theorizing
