I think you make good arguments man, as someone who spent almost 1000 hours on terraria and way more than that on Minecraft, Minecraft definitely does feel like it lost a lot of its charm by cluttering up the world without adding a significant amount of nuance. I will say though, that the aquatic update and cave update did significantly improve overall world building. The problem with Minecraft I think is exploration is not quite as rewarding as it ought to be, and I think it’d be improved with more structures like the terraria dungeon
As someone who has played and enjoyed both games (literally playing Terraria in the background), each game has its own form of entertainment. Minecraft is more geared toward exploration, while Terraria seems more focused on combat. Both are good in their own ways, and I often switch between them depending on my mood
Hm well i personally think that minecraft is a TON more versatile in forms of creativity and sandbox nature ( building, mods, smps, all the servers, redstone even) minecraft does lack in its combat system and progression, but thats kinda the point. I didnt beat the ender dragon all the way until 2020, and thats not a bad thing. That just means thay you are able to settle down and build at any time and do what you want at any time. That's also why minecrafts progression really isnt very, there? You can get just about the very best weapons and armor in the whole game before beating the dragon, and that just means its core mechanics and gameplay ( creativity) can come in faster. The things terraria are great at are just ok in minecraft. The things minecraft are great at are just ok in terraria. So im trying to say that minecraft and terraria are sort of incomparable, but are a yin and yang in a sense. But both have amazing mods they are FIRE
If you want to be more relaxed and chill building things and sometimes play with mods play minecraft. If you want more things to craft like weapons armors and fight alot of variety of bosses and extremelly easy acess to mods play terraria.

Minecraft is only better because you can use it as a game engine to make games or add a lot of plugins to make the game more fun
