    Yea it don’t play 12 or 10 inch record. I have all 4 the Omni,reloop spin,pt01 scratch and the new Stanton. I like the Omni first and the Stanton second,the pt01 scratch third and the reloop in forth. The Omni cost $350 tho,Stanton $250 ,my pt01 was $500 cause Jesse Dean modded it and the reloop was $329. Omni is king but they are out of stock most times.

    The STX skips around way less than an omni when scratching on my lap, which is how I practice most of the time; the platter and tonearm are much more stable when scratching. Also, after all these years of scratching, I’ve never been let down by an innofader; one has never broken or stopped working on me. DJ 3do in a comment below mentioned the omni platter becoming wobbly after some time scratching, and both omni faders stoped working for him, and Headache Sounds never sent replacements they had promised him.

    Bottom line the Stanton fell short of everyone's expectations. Number one it doesn't play 12 inch Records number two it doesn't have a magnetic cartridge. If they only added those two things, it would've been the best portable on the market today. I love the fact that you can record vinyl onto a thumb drive without the need for a computer. What were they thinking about when they made it a 7 inch only player? and they know everyone is complaining about these plastic ceramic cartridges. Let's hope they give us what this one is missing next time.

    Tbh, living in an era where there are multiple portable options is great in general. Long are the days of Having to mod a Numark scratch or PT01. That being said, I own a Numark PT01 Scratch and an OMNI. The numark is still a great choice for beginners. (I love the "click" fader lol), but it can get expensive with the battery cost and any modifications that you would want.
    The OMNI provided all of the portablist's "wants" at the time. The easiest portable power source. {A good pair of 18650's can last for years if you're lucky and treat them right. Plus in the US they are rather cheap (like $20 - 30)), phono, line, aux inputs, DVS, first to have ultra-pitch in a production model, 2 reversable faders, metal platter, and still the strongest turntable drive in a portable (i believe), EQ settings, and probably the best speaker of the bunch. IMO it's the Cadillac of portables, and it's at a decent price ($360 plus shipping).
    Let's also keep in mind that Stanton got to watch the success of the PT01 and the OMNI. Plus they are a much bigger company than Headache Sound. IMO, the Stanton is the Overall best pick for a beginner, but if you have the money, the OMNI beats everything out right now.
    side note: 18650 batteries left uncharged for 6 months will absolutely die on you. happens to everyone lol

    There's one major flaw with the OMNI that no one ever mentions. The opposite fader serves as a volume control and it's so smooth/light that it moves a lot while scratching so the sound level needs constant adjustment which is extremely annoying. It's a great portable otherwise but that volume issue puts it in 2nd place for me.

  • @PortablismMadrid

    For Lithium batteries, if you want to not use them for a long time, it's better to leave them at middle charge (40%~60%). They suffer more when they're in the charge edges (0% and 100% or close to any of those), so their life cycle will be shorter the more time they keep with "extreme" charge status (you can google or ask AI's about this 👍)
    By the way: the STX "weeps" with wide ultrapitch ranges, that's a -1 for some of us. Also, the included slipmat was too thin and the records touch the external raised edge and it's hard to spin without a thicker slipmat 😅 at least in the unit of a member of our group.
    Thanks for the review 🤟🎚

    I've heard about the fluttering of audio playback while using the slowest levels of ultra pitch and I got one with the same problem. Is there any remedy for this? Would a firmware update help this??.. i think not. Any ideas? It's the only problem with this otherwise great table, imo. Seriously, amy answers?

    • @PortablismMadrid
      @PortablismMadrid 2 місяці тому +1

      One of members has an STX with the same problem. No solution found yet (if there is any).
      Perhaps the platter weight helps for that? The STX's one is light and the Omni is metal... Maybe a mod putting weight inside could help (100% supposition, not tested)

    • @sknock3922
      @sknock3922 2 місяці тому

      Yes, in fact, I put my cell phone on top to measure the revolutions per minute and that actually stopped the fluttering with the weight, but I imagine a person will go through a lot of belts if it were to be weighted down the belts would probably wear out fast break since it’s belt driven. I was offered to send the product in for repair but I don’t wanna be without it for 2 to 4 weeks and find out that they can’t do anything. They seem surprised at Stanton like this is a new complaint, but I don’t think it is and what will they do, they can actually fix??? From what I understand all of these models have this feature. Do you know of anybody that has a STX that doesn’t flutter at low ultra speeds? Please answer I’ve been trying to find this out. No one seems to share any information in the communities.

    • @sknock3922
      @sknock3922 2 місяці тому

      I had a PTO1 numark and that platter was lighter than the STX had no fluttering of sound, so I’m not sure what the weight has to do with it all but when I put my iPhone 11 on top of this stx it does stop.. I just pretend now the fluttering sound is just an effect. It sound effect but really I don’t like that sound effect lol so again is there anybody out there that has an STX that doesn’t have any fluttering action at the ultra pitch level speed?

    If you want to play 12 inch records, buy a PT01USB. The STX is meant for scratching only and you can't scratch a 12inch on a portable turntable anyway with the belt drives they use. You could on a PT01 Scratch but it won't be any fun. That's a moot point in my opinion. The STX is meant to be used with purpose built scratch records that a lot of scratch related companies sell. Sure you can play a 45 album on it, or even a 7inch 78rpm record if that should come out, but it's mainly meant for scratching. To me, the STX ticked off all the boxes that "scratchers" wanted to have right out of the box with a portable scratch table. These turntables are meant to suit portablist and the STX does that exceptionally. I added a Jesse Dean fader on the left hand port on mine so I have two faders for it, and it still comes in cheaper than the Omni with more features. Just my 2 cents.....

    Does the vinyl audio from the STX filter out the lower frequencies? I wanted to sample 7” & 45s with my STX but noticed that the low end is missing from the line out, headphones, and the external speaker as compared to my other standard turntables or the Bluetooth connection using the same songs.

    • @PortablismMadrid

      How did you have set the "tone" knob when sampling?
      However, the OEM cartridge isn't the best, so it may lose low frequencies anyway (can't say how many)

    I've got both, I prefer the Stanton STX, I can scratch better on it. My Omni cover already has a couple of cracks on it and I look after my things well,Omni hasnt got USB port and the dvs port just drains the battery so quickly. Needle jumps like anything if you try scratching on your lap on the Omni.Omni is still good though.

      The Omni is available only from the manufacturer (Hong-Kong). It is expensive not because of the unit itself only, but also shipping + customs.
      However, they ship it as a $100-120 record player, so the taxes are not that high for customs, fortunately.
