Quilt "An island floating in eternity"

- I had this idea for a very long time, but I was very scared to approach it. Because if I had failed, I would have wasted a lot time, fabric, and effort. But one of the comments inspired me not to be afraid, but to try. The idea is that we take a fabric base and start painting, but with fabric instead of paint. We sew everything on using the applique method. I did a lot of work with hands. I also quilted with my hands, because at the moment we have a blackout in our country and I can't do it with a sewing machine. I am very interested in your opinion of this approach to quilting.
And maybe someone can guess which island I meant in this quilt’s name?) A hint: this island is located in Ukraine.

@@oltasquilts2725 They have already. I am currently trying the Askania quilt as there are not so many pieces. I am 90 years old and cannot cut more than 2 or 3 layers at the time, so I can manage that one. Am using what fabric I have in my stash. The important thing is I am having fun. I absolutely love this style and after watching you make flower valley, I started playing with curves! My favorite quilt I've made is one I just freestyle cut! You give me so many amazing ideas! No rules quilting! Beautiful.

Hi! Yes, the foundation needs to be left in place, since without it the top layer of fabric will be too mobile.
