I loved Middlemarch, it was one of my favourite books of last year :)

I really enjoyed it - there were a few boring moments though, but overall I would like to read it at some point in physical format 😊

I'm amazed at how much you managed to read. I've read My Cousin Rachael and its a favorite. Planning on reading Middlemarch for March and hoping I can get through it in a month. I usually use both the audio and the print with large books. What audio did you use and did you like the narration? Also read Revolutionary road a few years ago before the movie was released in the U.S. I did like it and it made quite an impression--I still remember much of it and it is quite depressing so I don't often recommend it though I think it is a great, sad, story. Love your channel.

Thank you! I'm quite happy with what I've read especially that it includes Middlemarch - that would have been tough to get through in physical form. I think I listened to the one narrated by Juliet Stevenson. Good luck with Middlemarch in March ! 😊
I agree, Revolutionary Road was depressing especially reading it in somewhat depressing times 😊

Oh no! That's too bad that you ended up reading the ending of My Cousin Rachel. Uncovering that is the key part of the novel, so I can see why it would feel a little pointless afterward. Way to go on reading so many classics, although if you're feeling slumpy, I recommend abandoning the ones you're currently on and moving into totally different genres. Not sure what you have access to, but some easy reading in various genres by Black authors that I really love and think might be good to break a slump with: Redemption in Indigo by Karen Lord (a retelling of a Senegalese myth, very funny and compassionate); Ghost by Jason Reynolds (middle grade contemporary about a boy joining a track team to help him deal with some issues); You Can't Touch My Hair by Phoebe Robinson (essays on pop culture & race; great on audio); Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert (contemporary romance about a woman dealing with chronic pain who makes a list of how to spice up her life - very funny); The Black God's Drums by P. Djèlí Clark (steampunk novella about an alternate-history New Orleans in the 1860s). Just in case your TBR is a heavy one and you need something lighter to get you through, all of those are very quick and engaging reads.

I am reading Black authors this month and some are on the heavier side so I def need to pick up some lighter ones. Will check out the ones you mention, I've heard about some of them 😊 I am reading My Sister, the Serial Killer at the moment and despite the gruesome premise it is a lighter read. Otherwise, I think the issue might be that I find Sag Harbor by Colson Whitehead a very slow read 😊

You read quite a lot! How was it to focus in Classics like that? I often find classics a bit more challenging, so can't imagine doing that for a whole month. I remember with Middlemarch I really needed a break after a while!
Haha, I used to read the ending years ago! Got spoiled so many times! I do want to read My Cousin Rachel!

Thanks! It went pretty well, the only time the month dragged was when I was reading Ice (the shortest of them all 😂) Maybe I was lucky with picking up the rights ones for me but overall mixing classics with modern classics did the trick I think 😊
I think I only finished Middlemarch so quick because i listened to it.
