When the suitors are presented, Merida seems to show most interest in Young MacGuffin. Some say she eventually chose him, hence her Doric accent in Wreck-it-Ralph 2. But I don't know. I also like the fact that many people know Kevin McKidd for his role as Dr. Owen Hunt in Grey's Anatomy. Though, how many know/remember his role as Poseidon in the first Percy Jackson film?

I really wanted Young McGuffin to win her heart.
Fact: Originally, the creators were going to have Merida choose McGuffin as her spouse in the end, but then decided to change the story.
If Wreck-It-Ralph 2 is any indication, he probably did.

@@PartyDownMan3000 What Merida says in Wreck-It-Ralph 2, none of the others could understand. The other princesses in response to Vanellope asking, "What did she just say?" was, "We don't know." "We can't understand her." "She's from the other studio." (For reference, I'm pretty sure Merida said, "Ach! Lang may yer lum reek and may a mouse ne'er leave yer girnal wi' a tear drop in his eye. Haste ye back, wee lassie!")

I never would have guessed that it was Kevin McKidd voicing MacGuffin, i focused more on MacGuffin and less on his voice actor.
When young MacGuffin broke that small log, the claim that he pushed back a viking warship with his hands sound believable
I am so so so glad that they didn't use nonsense words. I'm actually planning to use a clip of this for a dialect analysis in a classroom project :)

It's wonderful that Doric is represented in a Disney movie, even if it is a subject of fun (little do people know how reasonable and sensitive the lines are, it is those who don't understand who end up being the subject of fun).
I just watched a video about it. One of the comments translated it and I heard it clear as day after reading that comment.
It took me years to find out about Doric. I thought the guys was just speaking gibberish or some other language.
Not surprised that Pixar was originally going to have him do gibberish instead of actually doing research. This is why it's important to have people of that culture working on cultural projects like this one. You can do things that are effective AND accurate, instead of whatever "sounds/looks" good.

Exactly, spot on. You know when these film producers are being blamed for being insensitive, sometimes they are just stupid rather than insensitive. Just include the people of the culture that you are attempting to portray, it is so much better when you actually have their input.

no romanization in a princess film was the best thing Disney could have ever done omg. and the fact that they made them all Scots......Disney/Pixar really deserves a giant pat on the back for this one..

Well considering they told him that he should just make up gibberish instead of an actual scottish accents doesn't sit entirely right, it's just making fun of scots and their accents again
@@novas2905 ^ This. Plus, the people who kicked the original female director off and rewrote the story ruined it. It was supposed to be a deeper look into the mother daughter relationship, but Disney said that wouldn't do cuz it "didn't appeal to boys".
And a kick in the nuts for a lot of crap they've done since. But the Scot thing's nice, have to admit.

To be honest brave was underrated, I don’t necessarily get all the hate towards it and feel maybe it’s more of a band wagon thing for hating it
Brave was also one movie I absolutely loved. I think people felt it was a bit rushed, but also, it should've been more focused on like actual mother daughter relationship instead of daughter and her mother as a bear where they can't actually talk to each other effectively the whole film. The resolution seems kinda hand fisted

I had no idea it was a thing for people to hate on Brave lol. One of the best disney princess films ever. I remember seeing in theaters, and then sometime after Frozen came out I saw it and couldn't understand the hype at all, especially after Brave. Not that Frozen is a bad movie by any means but it's crazy to me how obsessed everyone was when Brave got such little fanfare. Merida is still my favorite disney princess by far, with Moana and Mulan being close runners up. Merida was the first time I personally felt represented by a Disney princess tbh. With her caring more about her archery and other passions than about being ladylike or finding a man. Even her relationship with her mom is relatable. Strained throughout Merida's teens, Elinor seeming cold and strict, despite it coming from a place of caring and wanting her daughter to be sufficiently prepared for life, and then eventually coming to the understanding that Merida is just marching to the beat of her own drum and that there's nothing wrong with that. Combine that with the amazing Scottish accents and folklore and Brave is just absolutely fantastic, all the way around.
People don't hate it... it's just that we want the rest of the story after what happened when she tore the tapestry and her mom burns her bow. The bear shit is not the direction the first half was taking us to
It's hated because the bear plot halts the marriage/feminine power plot
