I was in Singapore in late August when the sun is directly overhead at the equator from Aug to Oct. The humid heat did not bother me at all, didn't even think of it, walked all over the city for hours just enjoying the warmth. It does help if you're thin and avoid heavy meals.
By all means use the MRT but, to see the sights, use the extensive bus system. Buses are cheap, frequent and air-conditioned. Bus stops have seating and canopies to avoid the sun and rain. Grab and taxis are also very affordable.
A trick for finding a spot to refill your water bottle when you're outside is to scout for nursing/family rooms beside the washrooms in shopping malls. They usually have a hot and cold water dispenser inside that you can fill up with.
I love how humid it is in Singapore actually! Your skin does not get dry. I remember when I was in the UK, it was so cold and it was so dry that my nose started bleeding and it was the first and only time my nose ever bled. Loved the trip though haha

Keeps me cooler Thread weight - not all fabrics are the same. Go for a lower thread count. My Asian suits have a far lower thread count for the same style and look as my European suits 😉

Kevin Lee Wendell Crumb $30 for the Polo shirts, $15 for the T-shirts and $40 for the pants. I’d say it’s priced quite reasonably for its quality and functionality compared to other fast fashion brands.
The reason why there arent many water fountains in Singapore is people here don't use it properly. They spit in it, wash their slippers in it, dump rubbish and blow their nose in it. (I used to work at the airport and saw all this before)
Also water is an expensive resource here. We had to buy water from our neighbour up north to make sure we have enough for our consumption. Plus treating water here is expensive. Check your water bill and you'll see what I mean.
I’ve been to Singapore twice. Beautiful but yes so humid. People who live there are used to it. In fact the bodies adjust to it. Outside....it’s a sauna. My issue was it’s hot humid outside but cold inside most public places. So your shirt can be wet from the humidity then you go into a mall and it’s cold. Then you feel cold because you’re damp. It was a struggle but I managed.
That's why we have 2 seasons in the clothes we wear - summer and autumn for those who worked in offices. Some of us keep our autumn clothings in the office.
Having just visited Singapore after many years away, one piece of advice I would give is to adopt the Singapore stroll. Don't walk briskly, as one might in temperate climates, but amble slowly. Save the speedy stride for the air-conditioned shopping malls and MRT stations.
I still hate living in this hot n humid weather even though i’m born here. Still not used to the weather since my body heats up very fast and i sweat alot as compared to others. Somewhere in uk would be perfect for me though😂
Well, hold on. The UK in summer can also have high humidity. I doubt it's as severe as Singapore, but it's the humidity in the air, not the heat, which can seriously deplete you. I hate our summers for that reason; autumn is lovely, with just the slightest sharp air and the sun full on, but no wetness to it. Mind you, this all hinges on how much rain and gloomy skies we can be subjected to for a lot of the time!
2eleven48 yea for singapore it is the humidity and heat. I mean uk experiences heat wave once in awhile whereas it is hot in SG all year round. Even when it is raining, i would feel so hot and sweat because of the humidity 😭 i mean uk has 4 seasons u cant compare the heat to sg
A hot period in summer in the UK can be as hard as in Singapore. Last summer the temperature reached 30º for a few days and it was horrible. The reason is - we don’t have aircon, so there was no relief. OK, some offices and malls have it, but homes, pubs, restaurants, buses, etc, don’t. So over those few days everywhere just got hotter and hotter until it was almost as hot inside as it was outside. So no-one was happy. Then of course the heat wave broke (yes, we call anything above 26º or 26º a heat wave), it started raining, and everyone was complaining again!
I've got another one - make a conscious effort to slow down. Living in the UK you just automatically stride out when you're walking. In Singapore (and other hot countries, of course) you have to slow down. We all know this, of course, but the number of times in Singapore when I started off walking slowly but after 5 minutes found I had speeded up! @Fly Hi: it's odd to be talking about hot weather/humidity alleviation strategies during this storm, isn't it? So far (11am), my fence is surviving....

Every time I have visited Singapore, I either go for a walk at 7.00 in the morning, or I would wait until around 6 - 6.30 in the evening, otherwise it’s just to 🥵 to do any outside exercise & another tip to beat the heat in Singapore, is to walk around naked, although you will probably get arrested ha ha!
Georgie. As a female, you can go into those nursing rooms on the more modern/baby friendly Malls to refill your water bottle with cold/hot water. It’s really useful for those whom are alittle more paranoid on germs from the toilet taps. Not alright for men to go in the nursing rooms (that’s what my gf said) as people can misunderstand a male going in and out of one.
Actually, in Singapore, there're a lot of water dispensers but not fountains. You can typically find them in malls nursery room or baby's room. It's usually out in the open and you can just walk in and refill your bottle and move on with life. Singapore malls are getting better nowadays with the amount of water dispensers as they are promoting "healthy" living.

As a tourist who loves spending time in Singapore for a few nights in the way back from Tokyo, done quite a few times since 2015, I would say for guys at least, do not wear T-Shirts. Instead, wear a loose button up short sleeve shirt. Shorts are de rigueur, but cove up the feet with comfy shoes and ankle length socks. I have to say I love the heat and humidity. Sometimes they add ice to the beer, too. Some cold sugary hits are great, too, be they cendol, ais kacang, or a cold sweet ice coffee. Also, as a tourist, don’t try to fit too much in. And use the pool in your hotel. First couple of stays, I ignored the pool. Not anymore. Hoping to get some Singapore heat this coming July, as an antidote to Sydney winter, but perhaps pools might not be a great idea with the ever pressent threat if the novel coronavirus. I think it's because water fountains are extremely unhygienic and thats the general view in hk at least and I'm guessing Singapore as well, and with the Wuhan virus now especially, this would be like a safe zone for bacteria 🤗
Actually i remember now that back in the days of SARS, I think the sg gov removed a lot of water fountains. But those in Singapore will know about this best...I can't say for sure....
The best way to survive Singapore humidity and heat is to ditch air conditioning and replace with fans. If you do this after six weeks your body will acclimatise to the climate. If you use air conditioning ie your car, house and work you will never get use to the climate. Air Conditioning is terrible. I found the shopping malls were unbearable due to being air conditioned I was frozen.
Wear deodorant. Always have wet weather plan when you are planning for a day out. Wear slippers or sandals, or else have more than 1 pair of shoes because its going to get wet from the rain or stink from everyday due to the humidity
Get quiet fans , ventilate the room well and choose a unit not facing the east or west sun , north south facing the best ! Water fountains are not trusted by Singaporeans , they rather buy bottled water ! Siestas ? Once some people sleep might need to take loudhailers to wake them up , probably an emergency war sirens even !

Wearing a jumper in sg isn't ironic at all. From 2005 to 2006, ah beng who wanna look good wear hoodies and smoke under sun.
Coverfx gripping primer!
fab thanks!
Daily 20 minute siestas would be amazing for productivity. We should trial them instead of pumping billions of dollars to retraining programmes.
For me a siesta is a bad idea. Once I slow down and stop i start again very slowly 😂
Wear deodorant. Always have wet weather plan when you are planning for a day out. Wear slippers or sandals, or else have more than 1 pair of shoes because its going to get wet from the rain or stink from everyday due to the humidity
Yeah we need siesta
Girl, my ears!! Nice video, but crank the volume down a bit. That or talk more quietly.
Man you look burnt already . I was there 2 years ago .. I hate humidity..
You're just not used to it. When i walked out of Frankfurt Airport, i could not breathe properly.
MAY DY MAY DY... DRY SEASON COMING 2 HIGH HUMID NAZION WAHAHHAHHAHAAAG
Almost nothing is free in Singapore lol. Money number 1. So no water fountain or siestas.
I jus drink from tap in the toilet 😬😑😐😁
Beautiful eyes like Nicole Kidman :)
You are a local now but are leaving soon....
Not wanting to get sweaty is one thing but having to deal with a tanned skin is also another. 😂 If only Singapore could experience winter 😭
Tanned skin is beautiful!!
I moved out of there because I couldn't stand the 24/7 sauna
Sounds like horrible weather
and you would also want to avoid wearing a hat, not only a jumper
nah I love me a hat! 😝
#11 Don't come to Singapore~
