Hands down the best rules explanation I have ever seen. Great clear explanation in combination with awesome visualizations topped off with great humor and music choices. And you even did the special 2 player rules. Instant sub! (And a great game by the way!)
3:23 - I think you need to mark a new star adjacent to an already marked star as your additional observe action to follow the star marking rules. Page 11 of the rulebook! :)
@@NightsAroundaTable Ooo, good point! I should mention it to my nephews, who love to camp (and considering both of their parents worked for NASA, the stars are in their blood, so to speak)!
Gotta say, the art feels... lacking? Looks like a low budget kickstarter game. Particularly surprising given that it is coming from Mindclash whom usually produce awesome looking games. I am a shallow man, and thus find it hard to look past the uninspiring art. What's your thoughts on the artwork Ryan? You're an art guy, I find it hard to believe that you would dig this generic clipartery style of artwork and design?
Honestly? It's pretty! The iconography - especially the telescopes - reminds me of iconography from Perseverance/Trickerion/Anachrony. You can see Mindclash's attention to detail and their meticulousness in the rulebook. It all feels very German in its precision (even though, i realize, they're not German). The artwork is original to the game, although with constellations as the anchor, there's not a lot of leeway in the illustration style. Even the shape of the stars dictates, for example, Cassiopeia's or Orion's physical pose. What they're going for here is clean, simple, and clear, since they're courting a casual audience. It's in definite contrast to opening up the Perseverance game board and shouting "WHAT the hell?" So, being equally shallow AND an art guy like you, i actually thought the visuals were quite nice! And their pared-down nature meshes with what the company's trying to accomplish here.
