Dear Jen and Jo, What a joy and great pleasure to have followed your journey, right through to the end at Santiago. You are both so inspirational and funny with your wonderful happiness and laughter.. I do hope you finally got a real ice cream 😂 I am amazed at the lengths that you have walked! May God bless you both and the next trip you decide to enjoy.. Teresa 🙏🏽🐝🙏🏽
Thank you people. I am about 3 weeks from st Jean. Going by myself and not fit but I have to do this - I lost my wife 2 1/2 years ago and this is the way I am called to restart my life. I am both excited and terrified of the challenge. Your story is beautiful and I was in tears with emotion at your finish. I wish you well.
Well done Pierre, I don’t understand you being ‘called to restart your life’ but, I’m sure you will or did enjoy the undertaking. It’s great to get an ‘achievement’ under your belt, it should give you a bit of a lift in your life and perhaps Spur you on to do other things? My condolences on losing your wife, take care and good luck pal.
Wow!!! This video is the absolute best that my husband and I have watched ! It was filmed, edited, and crafted so well,…the photos were exquisite, the vistas through your lens were so magical, I was practically in tears and crying with you as it you finished!!!❤😭😭😭❤. Who is the photographer, Jo or Jen ? Or both!! Wow, what an incredible video👍👍👍👍 My husband amd I so enjoyed your journey. Thank you for sharing this with us. We will be trialing an 8 day Camino in May 2024 - we hope to have such fun and joyful and meaningful journey like the two of you did. Thank you and well done, ladies!! 🎉🎉❤❤ Best wishes to both! 🎉
Thank you so much, your comment is so much appreciated. We had a lot of fun and our fair share of blister and leg issues 😂 BTW we both took the footage, and had to very quickly get comfortable with editing etc. Thanks again 🥰
I’m sure you will have a beautiful Camino, make lots of friend and take photos and videos to help you remember, believe me you will miss it and the photo/video memories will help.
Wonderful video - enjoyed it all. Congrats to you both...my gosh - I hope Jen is incredibly proud of herself to prevail against such foot trouble. My family walked from SJPdP, beginning May 26th and we arrived in Santiago on June 30th...our daughter's 25th birthday. We had such a marvellous trip...we are having major Camino withdrawals! Thanks for the vlogging...we get to relive our adventure!
Thank you for watching and your comment. Congrats on your Camino, it is a wonderful experience and believe me it’s the same here, the withdrawals are real 😫. This will certainly not be our last Camino. I think we’ve learn our lesson with feet, we started the walk with feet that were still swolen from the flight. Should have taken a few days before starting the walk.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. The combination of sheer determination, honesty and tons of fun is what we loved when watching your video. You earned it!!!! Buen Camino
Absolutely loved this video. I left SJPDP just before you on the 28th of April and wish I had bumped into you. I met up with three lovely South Africans on my journey who became firm friends. Loved your smiley faces and found myself grinning from ear to ear all the way through. Thank you for happy memories xxx
Yes I’m planning one next year hopefully. I’m thinking of catching the ferry to Santander and walking some of the Norte then the primativo. I don’t really need to go to Santiago again though so haven’t decided completely yet. I’ll probably try and go earlier in April this time. I had a great time apart from breaking my wrist in Sarria just walking down the street! All that walking all over all sorts of terrain then slipped in the street! I took a day off and carried on walking though. Hopefully no mishaps next time. Will you two do another one ? X
The Norte sounds good and apparently it’s really beautiful. We would love to go back and do the Portuguese just not sure when yet. Breaking your wrist while walking down the street.. like you say, there’s so many other places it could happen 🤦♀️
I love the joy and care you have for one another, it comes right through the camera lens when you interact with one another or talk about the other Beautiful Wonderful video Thank you I’m planning to go summer 2024 solo
Fist off I loved your video! I was surprised, or I learned that it is cool enough during those months to wear a jacket so often. I hope to go in Sept to October and I hadn't plannred on taking any sweater or jacket as I was told it was hot.
Thank your for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video. In May/June we found the mornings to be cool and a lot of days it was a bit windy which had a bit of a chill.
Oh that’s exciting, enjoy the planning 😊BTW keep a look out for my packing list video which will come out in the next week or two, It might help with some ideas.
well done, ladies...loved your sense of humor despite the physical challenges, the weather and all...I have been to Santiago 3 times and aiming for a 4th...buen camino!
Thank you, I want to encourage you to plan for sooner rather than later. You will love the feeling of freedom. We are hooked 😂. Want to go and do another one asap.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey. I actually had tears in my eyes where you guys made it at the end despite the challenges you faced along the way. I am headed to walk the Camino Frances in September.
Aww.. thank you so much. We had a fabulous time despite all the challenges. All the best for your journey, take in all the beautiful things around you and don’t rush. Make a lot of friends, at the end of the day, this is what makes this journey so special. Buen Camino ❤️
That made me smile the whole way through. Thanks for filming your journey, I’m about to head out for my 9th complete Camino and you’ve put me in the perfect mood for it. Thanks again, really lovely and so genuine. xx
I thoroughly enjoyed your video! The energy and laughter between the 2 of you, the incredibly views you captured, the details of your itinerary & lodgings - all of it was super helpful and so encouraging to watch! At the end I also became emotional 😂 Thank you both for sharing your journey with us❤
Congratulations Ladies!!!!!!! I loved watching your sense of humor and laughter. I kept laughing out loud! :) My husband and I walked the Camino from Leon to Santiago back in 2013. Best walk of our lives. Can't wait to see your next adventures! Buen Camino!
@@JenJo.Camino i walked in 2021 from SJPDP to Santiago and two times from Porto in 2022 (Spring with girlfriend and in fall alone again). I will go this year in september again from SJPDP. ;-)
Planning our 1st Camino for next July. Can you share your pre-Camino training. Jen you've rocked it blisters and all! So fun being a part of your journey! Cheers!!
To be honest, we did very little training, did 2 20km walks with full backpack. Also did some cycling in the gym to strengthen the legs. I would say it will be better if you can do more hikes with the full backpack before hand, we just didn’t have the time as work commitments were crazy before we went. I am going on October and I am concerned now of what to bring in terms of clothing, Thank you for sharing your video!
Thank you, we did the Frances from 3 May to 14 June. We had really hot temperatures the first week but after that it cooled down a bit. We had 2 short sleeve and 1 long sleeve marino, a thin fleece jacket and a rain jacket, that was enough for us. Mornings were cooler but mostly could walk in short sleeve. Sometimes the wind would make it a bit chilly. Temperatures ranged from about 5°C in the mornings and up to 30°C degrees in June. We also had a buff which could be used to keep warm around the neck.
So well done, kept me laughing and entertained all the way through. I feel like we are best friends. I'm planning my first Camino this September. How did you manage to shoot the video? I'm curious about the equipment you used.
Haha.. so happy you enjoyed the video. I don’t have a very technical answer for you on the equipment, it was just an iPhone 14 and a selfie stick. This was really our first attempt at recording anything we do so we learnt and got more comfortable as we went on. Very exciting that you going in September, you will have a glorious time.. We really want to go again. Making the videos was so much fun and it serves as great memories for us 😊
Thank you Paula, the pants is not from Kathmandu but similar and they are extremely comfortable. I took a skort as well but hardly wore it as the pants was so comfortable. Even when it’s tight fitting it’s still comfortable.
And now my third comment 😂 I am guessing you have both watched this video a couple of times while putting it together. Did you notice the transformation in you both from being serious and straight faced to a couple of giggling girls by the end of it. Even though exhausted you both seem renewed.
😂😂 now you’ve made us giggle all over again.. to be honest we were a bit camera shy in the beginning.. it’s really hard to get used to the sound of your own voice.. but as we went on we got used to it and really started enjoying the whole camera thing. You are absolutely right we were exhausted most days but for some reason we always found a whole lot of things to laugh about. There were so many funny moments that unfortunately was not captured on video. Looking back I’m really sad we didn’t always have the camera ready. BTW, I’m still putting the daily videos together so there’s a whole lot more to come.
Loved your video, you did a wonderful job presenting the full camino, we are going this September but want to know about booking accommodations, how far in advance do you have to book and when you mentioned shared, you share the sleeping room with other guests? I was going to book through and agency but have to follow their bookings and if one of us gets ill or blisters then we can't stop? Thanks again, wonderful job ladies!
Thank you for your lovely comment. You will definitely be more restricted if booking through an agent. There’s really no need to do that, I feel it’s part of the experience to book as you go. We booked the first 3 nights about 4 months in advance (St Jean Pied de Port, Orisson & Roncesvalles) if I had to do it again I would also book Zubiri and Pamplona ahead. From there on it opens up and no need to book months in advance. We booked every day for the next day. Then when you get to Leon work out when your last week will be and book those accommodation as it gets quite busy again from Saria onwards. Where are you planning to start walking? Yes when I mentioned shared accommodation it was shared with other pilgrims in one room (bunk beds). Enjoy, it is a lovely experience 😊
