Whenever I drive pasta a cemetery in London, Ontario, I always glance over the fence at the veterans section and say a silent thank you. All military personnel, be they Canadian, American, British, etc. active, retired or deceased, deserve our thanks.
your reasoning is the same as people that say they love god...why, how does it seriously effect you? or is just patriotic brainwashing? the world is a stage and arlington is a joke of a lie. none of the men up top with five ton stones did a thing to deserve prominence over those men that payed with their lives
I guess the guy with the backpack did not know, not to stand on the grass with the walkway one step behind him. And......to take his hands out of his pockets when the departed passed by.
I used to work right next to Arlington National Cemetery at the Navy Annex there's a funeral there every day you hear the 21-gun salute every day sometimes twice a day
Wen I lived in West Virginia I had 3 American Flags. A Marine flag a man from VA gave my husband a PPW & MIA flag, I had red white and blue scarf that went on table. I had clothes and hair bows red white and blue
During the Vietnam War, I was a teenager growing up in Frederick, Maryland. This was back in the day, when you could walk through the back door of the Capitol Building and ride the train over to the Congressional Cafeteria. Walking through Arlington on a beautiful day, the drums never stopped; all day, every day; more than ten times every day. This was the exact same cadence played by the muffled drums, during President Kennedy's funeral processional, which my family watched together, on a round, black and white TV tube, in our family room. Even when reception was so poor we couldn't see a thing, you could always hear the drums.
Cassion funerals at Arlington are reserved for Officers and CMH recipients. Any soldier who served in the Old Guard is also entitled to burial and any president who or whose family requests one.

This reminds me of the Kennedy funeral in 1963!
