Oh, hey! I realized I never told you. This spring I built a Johnson Su bioreactor, using your modifications to open soil contact and one big hole. A local lady in my neighborhood keeps chickens and I pick up all the spent bedding for composting. I've been getting concerned about the output as her flock increased but the bioreactor is massive and has even more room left!
Even though most people don't give them one, the commercial type meat birds will use a perch. A 2x4 works perfect. It's a lot easier on their breasts that sitting on a dirty and damp ground.
It's a lifestyle for us! Farms and farmers markets are good for the soul!
