Abhishek Mhatre no I’m talking about real property that the royals legitimately own and make money off of that goes back to the state. Approximately 200mil pounds a year
There's a flaw in this. If the monarchy is removed, the House of Windsor will just reclaim all the crown estate from the UK government, given the fact that they haven't given up ownership of the Crown Estate. They just give up the revenue from the estate to the UK government as per the treaty, and get sovereign grant instead. The government doesn't own the crown estate. It is owned by the House of Windsor. In case the monarchy is abolished, the treaty becomes null and void, and the Windsors suddenly have on their hand a multi billion dollar estate.
There's a flaw in that argument, which is that they don't have any real power. A bill abolishing the monarchy would also say 'the Crown Estate now belongs to the state in full' parliament is sovereign, they wouldn't have any way to stop this
@@llewelyn7966 no that would void all inheritance laws then. The House of Windsor own all their properties, and if as per the treaty they give up a very large portion of it and are given the soverign grant. Taking the property frtom them would mean that the government can just stop all inheritances and can take your inhertance aswell. They have no politcal power but still own alot, they also pay a good amount of tax on their income. It is illegal for the government to take ones land and inhertences withut paying them. you didnt really think this through did you?

Well fellas they don't, actually we do for them.
@@xanderliptak And those that the people own, given them by George III in a business deal that obligated them to pay for the upkeep of the royals. How much income is generated for the British people today by those estates? If the amount is more than what they spend on the royals, they are making a net profit from having them around, if the amount is less, then yes, you are making money for them.
I mean, the alternative is that they step down and the British economy loses billions in tourist money. The reason why Windsor castle makes far more than any other European castle is that there is an actual monarch living in there. If the royals would step down, your taxes would go up, not down. They make money for you, not the other way around.
