He's a Filipino Novelty composer and singer and an actor too. When you hear his songs playing, you will surely want to listen more because of the humor/ happy vibes that it bring. This is a novelty song. It's not sang in schools but he's the king of novelty songs in the 70s and 80s. His discography is a goldmine...all funny and semi-educational. I did grow up listening to his vinyl LPs so I'm familiar with most of his songs.
remembering the song and sing, i got a+ in my philippine geography in my elementary days. remembering those places is a bit daunting. As I child if I can sing this song, just like learning the lyrics of a song that will help me remember. This is what all about. FOr those who are not Filipinos can’t relate to this. As you may know, Philippines has many small islets and islands that made up of 7108 islands in total. I think some of it already claimed by China. 😩 Come to think, if you can remember adding 7,108 english vocabularies to a non english speaker is a bit of a challenge same thing these places remembering by heart. Sure every Filipinos knows the song rich or poor.

I always heard this every Sunday when I was a little kid during elementary days 😂😂 my father always tuned in his fav radio station there was a program early in the morning for an hour back to back yoyoy villiame and max surban and i love it too!😘 Hmmm I missed those days...I missed my home country
I LOVE Yoyoy, he was my initial introduction to the Philippines as a foreign born Filipino! Look up Magellan as well as that would explain why all the Spanish in our language/dialect (s). Fun fact: he was a City Councilor for the City of Las Piñas at one point and during my college days I had the pleasure of watching him live at one of his hysterically funny concerts hosted in his native Visayan dialect! A national treasure if you ask me 👍

I think back in the day he was one of the most famous funny singers in the Philippines or so I've been told by my pinoy mother.
His Butsekik song is probably the funniest and most nonsensical song.. If I remember it correctly the "lyrics" to that song were inspired by him seeing all these Chinese restaurant/food places' shop signs on the streets of Manilla or some other city. It inspired him to make a song filled with fake words that look like they could be Chinese. So much so that the Chinese community in Cebu wanted to take him to court over it to get the song taken down but the court case failed due to the song not actually containing a single word of Chinese haha

I saw one interview of him saying that he was inspired to compose butsekik as a tongue excercise. Because he has a very thick visayan accent and he wanted to soften it a bit.

butchekik is not being specific on chinese language, but it is a collection of graffiti words scribbled in toilets, parks, street walls and all over the metro

It's a famous song in the Philippines. Yoyoy is a comedian actor, composer and composed funny songs. I don't think The Philippine History song was use in any school to become a regular school song. Yoyoy was good in gathering differents kinds of words and turn them into some kind of funny songs like "Butsikek." I'm not sure if I spelled it correctly. According to Yoyoy, he got stocked in Chinatown in Binondo, Manila one night because the rain was really pouring. While he was waiting for the rain to stop, He start writing down the names of all Chinese stores around him. Then later on, he arranged and organized all the Chinese store names and came out with the song in titled Butsikek.
I love yoyoy, i grew up with yoyoy in 80's. Then my son happened to have an assigned in geography and he is memorizing it, i told him to watch yoyo's song and he watched yoyoy in you tube and he loves it, he had memorized yoyoy's songs and he passed the class recitation he he he.

Yoyoy Villame is a novelty singer, recording artist in the Philippines. I grew up listening to his "good vibes songs". All his songs were a hit that time. Like "Butsiki" we may not understand the "tongue twister song" of his but we loved singing it.

I had met Yoyoy Villame personally. He had slept at my aunt's house during one of his visits in Davao City. Funny guy. Famous singer. Philippine Geography is one of those fun songs with his heavily accented English. You should listen to Butsekik. Just for fun.

Yoyoy Villame songs were part of our childhood days growing up, most kids are anticipating the songs to play over the radio. & even the kids of today helped them with their social studies exam. Bless Yoyoy he was a legend for us he left us with happy songs & even up to now kids use his songs about the Philippines on their school assignments. Yoyoy was well known comedian in the Philippines, he made lots of movies, he made people laugh, up to his death he never failed to make people's lives brighten by him.
