I just read that woodpeckers are being reduced so much by pesticides/herbicides [Roundup] that the pine beetles are killing the pine trees. stop using Roundup!
My comment for the day is: as hard as you've been working on all that wisteria, what will the property look like when the existing plants go into bloom?!-----On another note: there is a burn pile on the Farmstead in North Dakota, and my youngest sister still likes to poke around in there, because she's brought out scads of old bottles, and once, an old rusty train engine toy!-------Happy visiting with you folks today!
Brilliant. I've read some of the other posts and I have to agree, Robert and Brandon have to be "old souls"...its almost like they've found their long lost possessions. Its great they have such passion to pass on from the past. Love watching Sidestep Adventures and Watch Yer Step!!! The Old Byrd Farm....Brilliant 👋😊👍❤
Did Brandon hate that wisteria??? Lol Just love the enthusiasm!! What fun to play in the dirt and see what "treasures " you'll find! Always the best Robert. 💚✌
So cool to see the things left behind! I have the button off my grandfathers fire station jacket, he was a captain in the 1920, maybe 1930. Sweet connections to the past, thanks for sharing it with us!
I’m like you, I like all things old. They all have a story to tell. God bless you and your family, friends, etc for continuing to tell the story. 🙌🙌🙌❤️❤️❤️🤗😊
Love this. I detected out the back of my new home and was excited with a coin spill of 4.5 Euro, a nail and a bottle top 😁 I'd be so excited if I found something old. Waiting for the ground to dry up a little. They are fantastic finds ye found!
I agree I believe Robert is an old soul. Only folks with old souls can actually love the type of work that he's doing on the old Byrd Farm and tracking down old cemeteries and old headstones all over Georgia. I've enjoyed his websites thoroughly.
As a a former animal control officer and vet assistant , I think the dog tag is amazing. I have some from early seventies from dogs we had growing up. I can hardly wait for the day you can display all your artifacts in the house. Love your channels
You two are having way too much fun! Love the video. Robert, love your interest in the history of the land. That’s where it all started. I’m in the Pacific Northwest and the US south has always interested me. Awesome history down there. Keep going Robert!
Take whatever donated funds you receive and: 1. Put some gravel on the road, 2. Rent a bobcat (with a couple types of blades) to level out the road, spread the gravel and to clear out the roots of that wisteria closest to the house, 3. Dry in the house (roof, windows, doors). Then go from there on any more videos. Just my opinion.
That was a great tip about the pine straw from Brandon. I was super excited to see this episode! Robert, not that you want a bunch of people out there, but you ought to have a fan meet and greet over a weekend and offer that in exchange for everyone to become "Wisteria Warriors" and help knock out those crazy vines! Lol! Can you imagine how much you could get done in 2 days to kill it off. (I know, crazy idea, but just sayin)😁👷👷♀️👷♂️
We were told there was a log cabin on our 1 acre property. We used a metal detector and found a horse shoe and lots of square nails. We also find a lot of pottery shards and glass. The best thing was a part of an old sarsaparilla bottle. Have fun!!
Amazing what you find at an old place. Its so interesting to see these artifacts and having fun exploring too. The Wisteria, yes they do become rampant when not kept in order thats for sure, a lot of work to keep it under control.
Great treasures were found... U have yur hands full with that wisteria. I could just taste have n a chain saw n cut n that wisteria off... Nice metal detecting adventure... 🤓💜
These vlogs make my day thank you to Robert and the Byrd team. I surprised you havent found one of the brown glass clorox bottles. The WISTERIA giveth and taketh😝😁 mail people some seeds.....giggle.
@@constancegreiner906 LOL ya along with the Kudzu. People claim you can eat the root of the plant, ya find me someone that wants to dig that far down to eat something that will probably taste like dirt.😝
I am totally amazed at what all you found, and at Brandon's extensive knowledge. I am intrigued Robert at your finding the other structure that you saw on the topographical maps! Hoping you'll find out more about the old maps.
Bonide makes a stump and vine killer. It has a little brush on the inside of the lid, you paint the liquid on a fresh cut piece. I have had great results using it on grape vines. My grape vines are as big around as my arm, kind of like your wisteria. I had to order mine through Amazon, I could not find it at any garden center. Might be worth a try, you may need a 50 gallon drum of it, but it works really good!
Been a subscriber to Adventure Archeology probably as long as I have been for your channel, so it was cool seeing you two work and hang out together. Enjoyed it Boys! Thanks for taking us along. Stay safe!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ the video. My favourite piece would be the world war one button. You definitely need to get out with your metal detector. Terrific video. Cheers Australia 🇦🇺🐨👍🏻😊❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi to Cody!! Great job. I'm painfully shy too. Just be you and don't be afraid to talk.( Even if it gets you in trouble at school. )hehe. You probably are the smart one and your voice needs to be heard. Any ways everybody counts no matter what.
I pretty much grew up in old houses, my uncle lived in a house built in the early 1800s. A lot of the old finds you pick up was considered junk or trash. My wife's uncle lived in a house built in 1848 and her grandmother house was built just before the Civil War. That old corn sheller brought back memories. I used to shell dent corn for my uncle, he said to feed hogs. Later I found out he converted that corn to liquid corn, yes he fed the hog but it was the spent mash. I didn't live in a modern house until the 1960s. Yes, I grew up in the late 40s and 50s in Tennessee. The stories I could tell about growing up in the south.
There is a house a few miles away from me that I once visited and they had Wisteria growing through about 10 wooden trellises all the way up the drive and the fragrance was heavenly. Last year I saw some Wisteria when I was on my way out of a store and as I was in a hurry, decided to wait until my next visit a couple of days later - by which time they had all gone and I have to say that I was disappointed. Until, that is, I have seen your struggles with it and how the roots and vines have spread.

I would have loved finding the container of gold coins in California that were dated back to the gold rush. I'll bet they brought in a tidy profit. I love history, and the relics that you find that reflect that history. Good work on the farm Robert.
I'm jealous! I'm a metal detector and I love history. I could probably hang out at the farm with you all day and enjoy the history and finding out stuff in the ground. I am a new subscriber and a fan of your videos!
I love the way Brandon explained the difference in between detecting up north and down south as to what a person might find ! Now I know that a person can find more Civil War relics in the south than in the north ! So if I would want to find a little of both I would to hit both the north and the south !
