What's really interesting is the Japanese side of things, both politically and military on whether to continue the war even after the 2nd nuclear bomb, they were still considering to continue the war even after the 2nd bomb. If you are interest the channel Potential History has a video called "Why Japan Surrendered" it explains the events after the nukes on the Japanese side.

Military yes. However, the politics behind the bombs are fascinating as well. Anti-USSR/Communism politics play a massive part....

While the nuclear attacks were brutal and horrible in my opinion it was nessisary as millions of more would have died storming the Japanese mainland and with the Japanese just about complete no surrender fanatics it would have been much harder

That's the narrative the US government has spread for decades to excuse it. It doesn't make it any more truthful. I am german, I am ready to accept that my nation has done horrifying and unexcusable things to the world. It should be common sense today that throwing those bombs was a vile and cruel act that cannot be excused by any terms. Nobody can say what had happened if japan had been invaded or not. Let's just hope something like this never happens again. Peace!

You think that they wouldn't surrender if they just targeted military location instead of a city? Or maybe they could have stopped after the first bomb

@@DanTheSqueegeeMan actually it's true the operation was called operation downfall and called for a invasion of Kyushu island (sorry if i mispronounced that) then a major thrust up the mainland towards tokyo which could have ended up costing millions of lives
