I'm trying to disassemble a 2008 Yamaha Vino 125 topend and needed this video to confirm the can removal procedure. I don't have a long bolt of the right thread pitch but I do have a slide hammer with a vise grip attachment and a correct short bolt, so it should work. I have a question though. Is the TTR125 cylinder and piston compatible with the Vino? Cause that head looks real similar. And I'm having a hell of a time finding Vino parts, but have seen TTR parts(like a big bore kit). I bought the Vino from a guy who rode it 237 miles on the summer, then let it sit all winter with ethanol in it. The carb got gummed up, so he removed it for a cleaning. Then he moved cross country and lost the carb. Then he let the Vino sit outside. So it got water in the cylinder. I just removed it tonight and it's trashed. But every other part on this thing is beautiful and nearly new, so I'm trying to fix it.
If you have a head with enough wear that you need to service it and your going this far in then I would definitely plan on installing new valve stem seals.
Well if you have the repair manual or at least the specifications you can measure the parts to see if they are in spec or if they are really bad the parts will look terrible and be very sloppy when installed.
Usually with new parts the shaft just slides in but if not put the shaft in the freezer for a 1/2 hour then heat the head up a bit. Apply fresh engine oil to the shaft before installation into the heated cylinder head. When using our repair manuals you will have detailed step by step instructions.
Thanks a ton for uploading this, only video I have found about how to remove a rocker arm
The only video on UA-cam for this style engine. THANK YOU
Thx - I came prepared for battle and almost flew across the room 😂😂😂. Came out easily for me- kids gonna have some winter fun now👊🏽
Thank you for this. I was on the right track on how it comes apart. Will make a slide hammer and give it a go installing new valves.
I really appreciate this video. I have not found this information anywhere besides here.

The issue I have is one of the pins in my head is not threaded. 2015 linhai 257 scooter.
Can I just use the same pins after installing new cam and rocker arms? Just like gentle tap them in or sum?
This video was so useful!!!! Thank you!!!!! 🙏 ❤
Can you add heat without damaging valve seals, or do you only use this method when you are sure you will change valve seals.

How can I tell if the rocker arms are no good?

How do you reinstall them?
Hammer em back in by hitting the bolt threaded in, lube the arms first also
how about when i go to put it back in?

What is the thread size of the bolt?
Use the engine Mount bolts, should thread perfectly
6mm I belive
Can I put the ttr90 top end on my ttr50.
Not sure, but you can get a big bore kit for the 50.
Thermal expansion of Aluminum is DOUBLE that of steel. Heat is the right answer to many situations>
Thank You.
My rockers won’t even move using the method you took them out I even used a hammer and it won’t even move heat and everything
do you have to pound the shafts back in?
Contact me at the website and I will go over this with you.

Yes. Just do opposite of disassembly. Put the rocker bearing back inside threaded bolt and take a mallet and lightly tap it in.
Very helpful
Perfect!!!
