I had the OG K2 Fattys and even back they they were like 400$ at Action Sports. My Dad brought me and i wanted them and he bought them for me. Unfortunately my brother wore to school one day and they were stolen. Smh. Miss my Dad R.I.P. and those K2 Fattys
Me and my friends had fatty pros when I was younger! I can't believe I randomly found this sent me back to so many good memories, I'm literally going to buy some skates after this
I started skating in 1997-98 and I remember wishing I had a pair of K2 fatty or backyards or backyard bobs. Something about how cool they looked. I never was able to get a pair. I ended up getting a pair of Red Oxygens and lost them somehow. I haven’t skated since 2000 I believe. Somehow today I lucked up and found a pair of K2 style points bob brand new in the original box never rolled at all. Brand new. I’m 37 now and I want to give it another try. It’s going to be crazy getting back on the ledges again. I love these videos you put out. I can’t stop watching. I will make a video once the K2’s come in the mail. I’m ordering some cds grind plates next lol. Just need some good anti rocker wheels. Wish I could find the senate Randy roadhouse ones
I had a pair of oxygen and man they felt like bricks on my feet. I remember shortly after I trashed them and got the fatty just before the pros came out. My buddy Dustin got them first. The funny thing was when each of us tried k2 on the first time EVERYONES first trick when standing up was falling back!🤣 wasn't ready for the flat style ride. Roces Oxys Rollerblade all had a heel. My backslide game went to another level with K2. The way they was designed felt almost like cheating compared to any other style back then.
the same thing happened to me with k2 midtown, I had to remove the cuft and fold my boot with my hands, the result is incredible much more comfortable than the skates with independent liner, I think that for those of us who are returning to skating is a good option, because it gives more support and at the same time prevents injuries to those who are already a little heavier than 20 years ago
if you are on the heavy side they are perfect ,i have the unnaturals and i could do a pornstar sitting down on my back boot no problem on the first session with no pain. the same tricks in aeons would get the cuff stuck on the bottom of the boots because i bended it forward too much, they broke in really fast , just a few session. and they are really comfortable .
I have a pair of the K2 Fatty Pro. I love them. I haven't done any trick skating in years. I skated with Arlo Eisenberg. I remember when we were using steel plates to slide rails. So funny. You mentioned Daily Bread. I can't remember the issue, but I was the artist that did the comic. The one with the guy sitting in the chair. This took me way back.
Thanks for sending me to this video. The new ones seam worse for the stiffness. Ended up pulling the trigger on us thrones tho. Got soul and cuffs on the way for some frederick boots. It was a pain finding throne parts. But it will be worth it. The 98 throne was my first boot.

I had those, after that I had the og grey/black Fatty's and replaced them later for the K2 King55's. Still have/love them. The King55 came out together with the Bing Air and Style Point Bobs.
I would have loved to have the long frames for my K2 FattyPro size 13 back when I bought them new. They had 255mm frames on a size 13. I just figured manufactures forgot about taller older skaters. Now with the Oysi frames, or the Ground Control HD 72 frames, and a few others are available in 270-283mm and with some larger than 58mm wheel options I am getting back into skating after 20 years. I noticed your website does not have wheelbase length for all the frames. Keep in mind it really matters to some of us.
I just found a pair of k2 125cc at a thrift and they look pretty similar to the fattys. They are in super good condition. Iv never inlined before, holy shit it’s fun!
That pair you’re holding is my first pro in-line skate bought by my step dad most of my scars are from them skates rip to my step dad I’ll never forget the times I had on them skates
I always had the cheapest skates and when Big 5 got the style points i was happy ,got those twice took the toe shell off to make them look stylish hahaha
It's a shame that K2 is not able to reproduce the quality they used to make. It was a real unique feeling in the 90's, especially in contrast to all the other skates that were out there. RemZ made a good remedy to get over the loss. The Xsjado was also a good substitution, but now i wrapped some Morales Carbon around my feet and that feels incredible solid. Not that comfortable but extremely direct so i had to learn to skate more precise. This prosthetic-UFS-adpter alows me equally skate my 55mm-Freestyleframe and my 110mm-Trimax.
I agree. I don’t think they’re unable to make them, I think they choose not to. It’s a very good skate for some people, I hope I can break them in and get them to work for me.
I had the original K2 Fatty and 23 years later I'm rocking the K2 Il Capo which is a very similar boot. I use a Salomon Aron Feinberg pro model aggro frame on it for park skating.
Up until about 2 yrs ago i wore k2 250 cc same color you shown..i found the cotter pins to be the worst i found it difficult to replace when mine broke. Aside from to mention in general just very bulky skates though durable i skated my pair for 15 yrs.got rid of them 2 yrs ago cause i got out of the sport due to a broken knee cap..thanks for the vid..PS MY BROTHER IS PRO SKATER JON JON BOLINO..MUCH LOVE BRO

There were only the Aragons (super heavy ski boot style skates) and the majestic 12 in direct competition. When the style points bob came out they were behind of the time with Salomon and Razor as compeititos with features like shock asorbers etc.
I went from the Rollerblade Bravos to the first K2 Fattys back in the mid 90's. Man, that was a biiig change in feel. Those Fattys felt diesel! My friend joked (maybe) you can run over small twigs and snap them. Solid boot which locked your heel down, lower than most skates at the time, and smaller wheels. It was so low, the sole had cutouts for the wheels to ride in! Definitely not for distance and speed.
Had a set of 97 Fatty Pros. Just got a mint pair of 06 Fatty Pros coming to replace my now dead 96 Roces M12s I've used for over 2 decades. The 06 Fatty Pros are the first year they had UFS frames.
I started skating in 94 until 2002. i'm 43 now, married with 2 kids who skateboard and scooter. I will always love this sport and recently picked up a barely used pair of K2 Fatty Pro on ebay. Not going to go crazy, just going to cruise around with the kids at the skate park.
I used to have the k2 backyard Bob’s in the 90s and the newer fatty pros around 2010 those were all black with a skull on the strap .. but yea just ordered an OG grey and black pair of fattys im super stoked to get back into skating at 35 🙌🙌
thanks for the review on the old fattys I would love to see you review the k2 uptown or midtown with some 50/50 frames and some k2 /varsity soulplates, however the soulplates, the cuff is much more relaxed compared to the front street and the unnatural
Hey Man, I’m thinking of getting the Uptown’s for there flat heel and supportive cuff, but the only thing putting me off is hearing people say it’s so stiff that you have to loosen the buckle and only lace them up to the 45 degree strap… would that defeat the whole point of having a tall supportive cuff? Will the cuff really break in to the point you can lace them all the way up with the buckle tight, but still have forward flex? I’m also pretty light, 130lbs, so I don’t know if that makes it harder to break in.
@@mountainpeakcloud8442 the uptowns cuff is completely different to the unnatural check out Ricardo Lino review of the uptowns its much softer and still very supportive
Man I forgot about my og Fatty's. Wore through the outside edge cause they didn't even add that plastic plate yet. I have a newer pair of Fatty's in the closet with the translucent plastic uppers. I should probably see if they still work and hop on this resurgence!
I spent literally every penny I had on rollerblading in the 90s i started out with bauer f3s and went to k2 fatty's then backyard bobs the big money back then was roces I was 150lbs lighter back then busted and broke every joint in my body busted my face all up that was the best time of my life
remember when I first started skating, everyone skated K2 1997. They were the only real aggro skates next to Roces and Oxygen for a time, Then Roces dropped the 5th Element, soft boot kind of design inspired by K2
We just got my 6yr old daughter her 1st pair of skates, now I’m kicking myself for getting rid of my old Fatties, actually had then signed by Tom Hyser back in ‘99 after I got a pair of Backyard Bobs (also donated). Just want something to roll around with, that doesn’t make me look like a tool.
I stopped skating at 18. I'm 38 now and want to get back into skating. My daughter and son both asked for aggressive skates for Christmas. I was surprised when they asked. I used to have k2s and want to get something similar, I never liked the hard shell skates and always skated k2s. So much as changed since then. What would you suggest for a decent starter skate? Something in the 200 range. I was on k2s site and it looks like they stopped selling aggressive skates.
I had fatty's n bob's. ... Now im tryn to find a pair of old school skates or new ones if gotta go with. Can any one help. Want to skate show my girls at skate Park. Maybe kids will start to follow and bring back skating like when i was young
What was the difference between fatty pros and bing airs? I've still got my bing airs somewhere in a cupboard and they're like new condition as I didn't have them long before I quit skating
Btw, the USD Carbon (non-free) is super stiff. It's less of an issue that the boot is stiff as it is an issue that the liner is rock hard and just hurts. As far as I know the liner is similar between Carbon and Carbon Free. I bought carbons hoping they'd be like an updated K2 but the comfort is awful (that said, I've heard from others than the carbons aren't all the same comfort wise but said person couldn't pinpoint whether certain editions of carbons are better or the consistency just isn't there). I haven't skated Seba or Adapt yet. Oddly I would say Aeons are slightly similar to K2 in terms of having a closer to the ledge grind feeling since they aren't a separate soul plate. To me the Aeon combined a lot of the best ideas so far. Not sure how heavy they are. If you're really good with tools they can also be converted to UFS apparently (perhaps if you like shorter frames or a narrower gap in the middle - granted, 60mm aeons still aren't as long as these K2s I don't think).
I have a like new hardly broken in pair of 250cc they are a size 9. They don’t fit me anymore. Are the frames with wheel and bearing set worth harvesting? Or should I sell the whole skate and invest in new ones that fit. I’m 40 I wore these in my late teens a few times but switched back to my mejestic 12s
my first pair of good skates were a pair of K2 back yard Bob's. I went through maybe 2-3 other pairs of skates switching brands everytime, because a new brand was gonna help me land those tricks I couldn't land. looking back, I'd have to say the K2's where probably the most superior. what happened to skating? How did inline die out and skateboards become so superior?
Lots of things, but mostly the foundation and tradition wasn’t there for inline. People hadn’t been doing it for 20 years already. We’re at the point now where skateboarding was in the mid 80s. Give it 5 more years!
I always want to skate with k2 skates but was hard decision and choose roces not regret but now at my 40s want to get one pair 😅 I remembered some friends who had them some times the issue was the cuff sometimes brakes if you do to many grinds
Actually just ordered some only rolled on k2 fattys lol . Got them out of a time machine. Thanks for the response. What would u recommend to tires and bearings
Are you antirocker or flat? I’ve liked the Konjure 60mm wheels for antirocker, good urethane and hardness. 50/50 bearings are great for aggressive, cheap and long lasting. But I own 50/50 so full disclosure.
You are such a great speaker. I have only just begun skating last year, but I haven't tried aggressive skating. Your videos make me want to try, though. Peace to you, my inline skating brother. ⛸️(I couldn't find an inline skating emoji)⛸️
You mention towards the end that you would recommend the "USD Carbon Free" or Seba CJ for someone looking to recreate the K2 Fatty experience of the 90s. You also said that the USD Carbons (not Carbon Frees - the ones with the carbon fiber soul area) are more expensive and stiffer, and you wouldn't recommend them to someone who was getting back into it. I'm now seeing the Carbons for the same price as the Carbon Frees on some sites (both boots are $300). I'm tempted to get the Carbons since they're ~150 grams lighter per skate and sold at the same price (at least now). Were you just warning people interested in getting back into the sport off of buying a very expensive boot right out of the gate? Is there some issue relating to the stiffness that I should be aware of before buying the Carbons?
I think the Carbon free has a reputation of being flexy like the old fatty was. The carbon are very stiff in comparison, but in the wrong places. I haven’t skated either so really can’t have an opinion, but from what I’ve ready the carbon free is the more popular version, regardless of price.
I just saw what a deconstructed USD Carbon looks like (in this case one of the Franky Morales series of Carbons) - ua-cam.com/video/nm00vQXbak4/v-deo.html. Before seeing this, I believed that the heel cup and the soul area were made of carbon fiber, but I figured the rest of the boot was leather and foam more or less (with the solid exterior cuff to make the ankle area more rigid). I now definitely see what you mean regarding rigidity. Thanks for the warning!!! You saved me from a very costly mistake...
The OG fatty’s would wear out on the side of the foot and have a hole. Also the cuff rivet broke easy .I had to shove a plastic piece on the side so it didn’t burn a hole in my sock. The next model had a replaceable one . I think the pro ?
I had the black and red Fatty's. I traded a 25 dollar bag of weed for them, greatest trade of my teens!!!! i would love to have another set myself .. my friend gave me a set of k2 i salvaged for part's because my skates were shot ..
Yeah, tis weird, IMO it makes sense to have the unnatural be all plastic liner'd out if they wanna do that "cheap huge wheel alternative to SX" thing, but for the front street, the "old school aggressive" boot... why?
Agreed. I’m not sure there was a clear story behind this line. Seems like a basic and pro, but they’re very different. Wish they’d do someone not leather with no break in, would be great!
I got the 2016 unnaturals and after heating them with a hairdryer skating them for big wheels and wearing them as much as possible I started to think it was me and I just wasn't meant to get back into it.... thank God I tried my mates aeons and valos before I threw in the towel... K2s are stiff as fuck and completely uncompromising. The frames are better on the unnatural but the wheels are rubbish. I cant stress enough if you're old like me just wanna get back into it with minimum fuss. Aeons all the way!!!
100% agree. I wish the current K2 line were more welcoming to new skaters. You really have to put in some time getting them broken in before you can skate them. Aeon on the other hand, perfect out of the box. Welcome back!
My first skates I bought were backyard bobs then later the 250cc. I ended up snapping the frame during a royale which seems impossible when u see how thick that frame is
If you're doing competition, I get it but if you're going to ride then a while... They'll break in! Screw instant gratification! That's what's wrong with people today! Ride em! Break em in! Earn that gratification! I agree though... Grand is long!
I'm a bit late with the response but my Aeon 60's are ridiculously light, like skating on air. My Valos on the other hand are stupidly heavy but I like a heavy skate better.
Love ure videos n topics mate... im going through d same problem now... i use 2 skate roces majestics 12 n im now 40 n am now teaching my 5 yr old basìc 101 rollerblading... i just dunno what to buy.... maybe you can recomend me or anyone here can recomend me any new era skates thats available.... thx buddy.. 👍🏿👍🏿
I always wanted a pair of Fatty Pros in my youth and never had the money. Having not skated for 20 years Im considering sourcing some fornthe nostalgia!
Anyone know the maximum wheel size that can fit in the 250cc frame?? I've asked around everywhere and can't find anything. They come with 57mm and they look pretty tight
Trying to find 250 ccs is going to be difficult. Those are some of my favorite K2s aside from stylepoint Bob’s and there are a lot of people looking for those skates right now.
@@paukin9344 oh I’m jealous. They fit pretty big wheels in there. I think it can go up to 60mm. I remember putting some larger wheels in my backyard Bob’s (bigger then 55mm) and they fit
If K2 would combine their various good ideas over time and get rid of the bad ideas, they'd actually sell some skates again. I literally have written it all out but am not sure how to contact K2 or whether they'll ever get back into this market. It's sad because all the great ideas have been present at different times but one step forward one step back it seems like when they release a new design. They fix some problems and create a few new ones. It seems they need feedback from some skaters who are neither dads who barely skate now (no offense to anyone, I used to skate with you all and am your age) nor the Mushroom/unpopular folks who are the niche of the niche and don't represent how 95% of aggressive skaters skate and opted for very weird experimental design (and this basically screwed K2s sales over - in my opinion... when a skate comes out and it constantly gets reviews about why are the frames way too long and the cuffs super high and stiff... The newest K2s were acompromise between a powerblade/bigwheel approach to skating and regular aggressive skating, and it didn't really work well for aggressive (according to many YT reviews I see and people I know who tried them). Most of the market still falls under regular aggressive (far as I see around IG / FB / my state, etc). It's sad, I'd readily buy a K2 boot right now over anything else if they'd fix the issues in the old boots without overcompensating like these new ones. Salomon was the other best skate ergonomics/comfort wise but I've no need to buy more of those because they last forever.
I’ve never skated the Remz. But everyone I’ve asked has said they’re unlike anything else. Not saying that’s a bad thing, just maybe not a good comparison. I need to get a pair.

I’ll revisit it once I break mine in, but I can’t recommend a skate that fees this restrictive out of the box. People are gonna give up.

I'd go through 2 pair a year....my dad would get pissed...but I spent so much time in them walking in shoes felt weird
If you’re looking at $200 ish, I’d recommend the USD sway. Great soul plates and not bad liners.
I had fatty's n bob's. ... Now im tryn to find a pair of old school skates or new ones if gotta go with. Can any one help. Want to skate show my girls at skate Park. Maybe kids will start to follow and bring back skating like when i was young
Always wanted these in the 90s couldn't afford em to young ended up wiv some shit Rollerblade squad
Word on the street is these are also not a real soft boot in the front. Is there some sort of plastic reinforcing in there?
I believe so. At least on the sides.
Just pulled my style point bobs from the rafters
Careful with the cuffs! They plastic they used is known to break now
@@BacktoBlading never really tightened the cuffs!
Yeah , I had the bobs! Then the 250s
What was the difference between fatty pros and bing airs?
I've still got my bing airs somewhere in a cupboard and they're like new condition as I didn't have them long before I quit skating
They’re probably very similar. But please be careful skating those. The cuffs didn’t hold up super well over the years
Btw, the USD Carbon (non-free) is super stiff.
THE most iconic skates from the 90's...VTG K2 Bing Air Fatty
hi im from Brasil and i have one K2 fatty pro and i need the axles for this skating, di you now were i can buy ? tks and congrats for the channel
I still have the OG fatty pro’s in gray and black size 12 lol I guess I’m gonna pull them out of the closet and start shredding them again!!!
my first pair of good skates were a pair of K2 back yard Bob's.
Ebay might have your size for a good price
But ik not everyone likes buying used shoes/skates 😂
Actually just ordered some only rolled on k2 fattys lol . Got them out of a time machine. Thanks for the response. What would u recommend to tires and bearings
Backyard Bob's where my original
Are you antirocker or flat? I’ve liked the Konjure 60mm wheels for antirocker, good urethane and hardness. 50/50 bearings are great for aggressive, cheap and long lasting. But I own 50/50 so full disclosure.
@@BacktoBlading thinking antirocker think that will be good for more city skating
Thinking softer tire but not sure
Wowww I'm still alive can't belive I'm still on the same skates
K2 should rerelease the original K2 Fatty Pro, with UFS. Their newer skates are similar
You are such a great speaker. I have only just begun skating last year, but I haven't tried aggressive skating. Your videos make me want to try, though. Peace to you, my inline skating brother. ⛸️(I couldn't find an inline skating emoji)⛸️
Thanks for the kind words! Aggressive is a lot of fun for sure, but can be brutal if you don’t pace yourself. Hope you give it a try someday.
I already fall without aggressive skates. :)
Hah, ditto.
I’m sooooo happy 😃.
And if someone know where can we found spoilers and screws… in France i’ts unfounded !!!
If you take the toe protection of and saw the backslide plate of then screw that back to the k2 boot there lighter and look slick
Ps you're right the carbons are exactly like king 55s. They are comfortable like K2s
I have the k2 fatty 125cc does anyone know when they quit making them?
Where could i get a pair of K2’s from in 2022???
i had fattys back in the day my favorite skate.
They aren’t making aggressive skates. But you can find most of their other line online
@@BacktoBlading Thanks, Lawrence! Really appreciate the input. Love what you're doing with the channel/community. Keep it up!!! :)
You saved me from a very costly mistake...
thanks
The OG fatty’s would wear out on the side of the foot and have a hole. Also the cuff rivet broke easy .I had to shove a plastic piece on the side so it didn’t burn a hole in my sock. The next model had a replaceable one . I think the pro ?
I had the black and red Fatty's. I traded a 25 dollar bag of weed for them, greatest trade of my teens!!!! i would love to have another set myself .. my friend gave me a set of k2 i salvaged for part's because my skates were shot ..
Majestic twelves, Daisy’s or Poppy’s.
Watching the video 3yr later still on the k2 fattys
I just thrifted a pair of k2 fattys for $15 from a good will, gonna replace the bearings and learn to skate on them
Shop Task in Canada carries Seba and they have a location in Seattle for the U.S. if anyone is looking for a pair👍
Lol, great shop for sure.
I Just got the 2016 Front Street model. The frame is white and much shorter, more like the Fatty. To me the soul is large.
Size 11.5 in US, 45 in EU.
i had the k2 backyards
I miss my rollerblade ci5 s
Oh shit , my all time favorite skate. I’ve gone through 5-7 different pairs of aggressive skate ci5 were the best for hooking up on rails .
Mint green with coolmax liner and was able to take them out and walk in them cause they had a sole that was made for it .
myboy051 I want another pair
I ended up snapping the frame during a royale which seems impossible when u see how thick that frame is
Yikes!
I need a size 13..let me know if you have a pair..those my old original blades. Fatty..
If you're doing competition, I get it but if you're going to ride then a while... They'll break in! Screw instant gratification! That's what's wrong with people today! Ride em! Break em in! Earn that gratification! I agree though... Grand is long!
What are the lightest skates in the market now? For super high rails. I have RB TRS and there ridiculously HEAVY!! TY
I think some m12 or some Them 908 would be light. Mix with a freestyle frame and you’re good
I'm a bit late with the response but my Aeon 60's are ridiculously light, like skating on air. My Valos on the other hand are stupidly heavy but I like a heavy skate better.
Hi all, I repaired my olds fatty pro with spoilers from il capo 2019 👍👍👍
I used to skate Salomon and what to get back into it. What would you recommend?
Did you have the hard shell boots? Might want to try some Razors SL or some USD Sway
Back to Blading yes the st9. I also had a set of roces kahuti that I used to get on really well with.
Loved my salomons
They where my first skates ha.
hey there! i just pulled out my K2 fatty SC and the cuffs melted in my hands...is there any chance to get replacement parts?
Yeah, that’s a K2 thing. They don’t sell replacement parts. You might be able to salvage the wheels and bearings but I’d get new skates. Sorry
What about USD Shadows ? How compare to fattys ?
Love ure videos n topics mate... im going through d same problem now... i use 2 skate roces majestics 12 n im now 40 n am now teaching my 5 yr old basìc 101 rollerblading... i just dunno what to buy.... maybe you can recomend me or anyone here can recomend me any new era skates thats available.... thx buddy.. 👍🏿👍🏿
Skates for him? 5 yr old would need something adjustable I think.
@@zzzzimmers5046 I have two pairs from back in the day fortunately, with the og wheels that need replacing
@@paukin9344 oh I’m jealous. They fit pretty big wheels in there. I think it can go up to 60mm. I remember putting some larger wheels in my backyard Bob’s (bigger then 55mm) and they fit
I have 72mm on mine. With some grinding it will fit
Anyone who had the first gen of the fattys know about the toe pain if your foot shifted foward and hit that hard toe cap
I found that the rollerblade solo black team skate was similar to a fatty with comfort and flex.
I’ve heard good things about the Solo. They’re discontinued but hopefully will be back.
@@BacktoBlading they do have some flaws i would only skate them with solid frame as they can flex in the boot and frame
I think k2 has stopped making aggressive inline
I had blue k2 skates I can't remember what they were called
K2 fatty SC iirc
AlleyStar Growley backyard Bobs
I had k2s
Do you own a skate shop ?
Nope, just live collecting gear
Back to Blading 🔥🔥
One of the spoiled kids on my block had K2 Fatties, I had $100 Roces.
carbon free a softboot??? what about recommending remz a true soft boot.
I’ve never skated the Remz. But everyone I’ve asked has said they’re unlike anything else. Not saying that’s a bad thing, just maybe not a good comparison. I need to get a pair.
Want your t shirt
Hah!
Back to Blading I'm not joking I want it! Thank you please
The top is too high. They never gona fix itt!
