Angular houses are the first, fourth, seventh, and 10th houses. They represent four of the most important parts of our lives, and transits through these houses tend to signify significant changes or transitions.
They also are extremely sensitive areas of a chart-transit (future probabilities and patterns), natally (your character, personality, and general life pattern), and synastric (astrology of interpersonal relationships) wise. The power points of a chart. Also generally corresponds to the Cardinal directions of North, East, South, and West, and to the horizons and highest point of the sky, and have an archetypal connection to the 4 Cardinal Signs of the Zodiac (but Signs and Houses are also very different symbols). 1st House represents our physical body (especially when near the Ascendant degree), immediate environment, and temperament. It is kind of the main lens that focuses our awareness in this physical dimension. The Ascendant degree is the single most amplifying point of a chart, especially in relation to Planetary symbols. 4th House is home, family, deeper roots whether ancestral, psychological, and/or karmic. Tends to be more hidden and unconscious in some ways, but clearly deeply influential-much like the subconscious or soul mind itself. (Took me a long time to more fully understand my Scorpio Uranus in the 4th, and how much I needed to face, own, and integrate that side of self-especially in relation to close/affecting relationships as Uranus rules my Venus and Descendant, and it is square my Aqua Venus). 7th House is closer and/or more affecting relationships-marriage/long term committed partners, very close ("best") friends, and open enemies fall under this House. It is the opposite reflection of the 1st House and can represent and relate to ones "shadow" in some ways. 10th House is career, public standing, reputation, and/or persona, and on a deeper, spiritual level (potentially), how we serve the larger society/collective in a practical and powerful way, and what we are trying to grow towards as part of our spiritual life goals.
