In Illinois outside the main casinos there are slots in gas stations, restaurants, bars and gaming cafes - the most you can bet on this type of machine $4 and the most you can win on any given bet is $1,199 (for tax purposes) very few have "free" games - most are called "fever" games and you are actually betting on each spin in bonuses (some machines charge full bet for fever games other reduce you be to 1 cent) - this allows the machine to pay over $1,199 for a bonus round because each spin is actually a new wager
As a citizen of Illinois, the amount of slot parlors needs to be reduced. You can gamble on almost every single block of a town now that has over 1000 people in its population. Sure, variety… but as a gambler I have never felt so pressured into developing an addiction. It’s absolutely ravenous how they have slot machines everywhere.

They’re everywhere in Illinois. There are probably 50 places with a 30 minute drive of where I live here in Southern Illinois. Gas stations, bars, liquor stores, restaurants, bowling alleys. We have tons of slot parlors as their called too. They only have a few machines but they have drinks and snacks too. Non alcoholic drinks are free but you still have to pay for beer and mixed drinks. Even in casinos, the days of free cocktails are over.

The largest jackpot I've heard about was $22,000 - the girl was playing Illinois version of Run With the Pack - early in her bonus she locked all reels wild so every spin was a guaranteed $1,199 but she had to hit the spin button for each remaining spin in order to wager and collect the wins

That game can pay so much once in a blue moon. Someone locally was betting $2, retriggered first couple spins then got all the locked wilds. Wasn't $22k, I think it was $10-12k, but still a ton from a slot machine in a bar.
Funny thing is, the biggest win ive gotten on that game was on a 50 cent bet. Got 4 wilds for a few spins and was a $200 bonus. Played it again later the same day at another gas station and got the bonus on a $2 bet and was a $10 bonus. What a letdown lol.
