Short answer: Depends on what you are trying to do. I'd say if you ride accordingly to your skill level and try to slowly progress step by step it is not more dangerous than other sports. A good visualization of this is the number of inhuries per 1000h of sports activity (just google; there are some sources that collect such data). I personally had more injuries playing basketball and doing martial arts than i had while kiting. Keep in mind that lessons are a must before you try it on your own!
