Great job Alex the Mechanic!
If I may. Let me give you a little piece of advice to save you from having to keep replacing the carburetor. We were taught this from our elderly neighbor that has passed on now, for the winter months or if you are not going to be using your lawnmower for a while remove the gas line from one side of the carburetor while it's running. Let the mower keep running till it runs out of fuel. Then put the hose back on. What this does is it empties the carburetor of fuel. Leaving fuel in it can gum up the carburetor. We winterize all our small engines like this. It will save you lots of heartache. Job well done Alex! You are an amazing woman.

That was a BIG job, Alex, and you looked to be very thorough. You have every right to be most proud. Remember from now on that crud getting into the gasoline may be a recurrent problem. If you can find a stiff wire that will fit down the fuel line, keep it handy, as you may need to occasionally take the line off the tank and fuel filter and poke out crud.

It might be a good idea to purchase a set of car mechanics overalls. This will do a number of things. Keep your clothes clean from dust and paint. Another advantage will be to help keep you warm in the winter.
Alex the mechanic is giving poor James performance envy! But seriously, way to go with the perseverance. The mower deck almost looks brand new. And now that you have the tools and know-how to pull it apart, you'll be able to maintain the mower for many years to come.

WOW! I’m SO impressed with your ability and dedication to getting that mower up and working again! Now, keep it clean, (wash it off and/or blow it off with your leaf blower) oiled and greased up and try to store it in the barn or a protected area, so it will be ready when you need it! When you done mowing use a hose and wash all the grass out of the deck it sticks and will rust it out. Outstanding job Alex
And after you wash it off Alex make sure you leave the deck up so it can have plenty of air movement. If you don't do it right afterwards it'll harden so hard you won't be able to get it off very easily.❤

If you use water make sure it doesn’t splash on hot engine. Could crack the block!
Just a little hint..put some grease fittings in the bearing housings that turn the blades....it works wonders. the factory puts very little grease in the bearings .

Where I live some of the women don't even try to do what you do.
I don't know if you even remember me . I am 63 now. I've raised a family of five children and I have 11 grandchildren .I'm a diesel mechanic , on road and off road. Which means hydraulics and lots of welding 😊. My oldest son was two years old when I decided to go into a nontraditional job because I wanted to be able to support my son because I was by myself. Later got married had more children got married again. I wasn't a very good man picker L O L.
Still to this day can fix anything. I know how to sheet rock I know how to paint I know how to work with wood ,I make copper jewelry .I know how to do electrical. I've had to learn how to do it all myself ,but I've also loved to learn it all❤. When I watch you Alex, and your mom. it just thrills me to see you being independent and loving what you're doing. Keep going girl !!!! I love you guys,.I watch all your programs. I am such a tomboy ,I don't relate to most women but I definitely relate to you guys. With a little sidenote I am still 100% woman lolol😂

Alex the mechanic sounds good . Nice restoration on the mower . I used a 3 cylinder diesel zero turn at full throttle . I would start cutting on a Monday and on Thursday I would start trimming the edges wrap it up on Friday . A huge horse farm is where I did all of that . Reach to pet car with open hand just like a horse.

Well he’s back-sprayed the bush just outside, so he probably has. Wise to film in case he pees up the door.
Are you sure he’s a feral stray? He seems well groomed, & clean, & well fed. Maybe he’s a good mouser, or has more than one home on the go. If there’s no fur between his toes.. it’s a good sign he’s defo an outdoor critter.
P.S Be warned, if you use a ‘safe’ flea spray on your mat, mornings are best, so has all day for it to air, before he returns ‘home’. (Cos the spray stinks) stink. Good luck.

Excellent work on the mower,I know some people that would/and have left the mower in the front yard after it broke,go and buy a new one an just cut around the old one😂
*Alex, well done on repairing the ride-on mower. You should have turned on the lights and continued mowing in the dark 🙂 Remember to wash the crud off after every mow and also raise up the blades to the highest level too, and park the mower in the shed on a large piece of plywood to stop moisture attacking the metal again, especially after all the hard work that you have done on this machine. 🙂nz*

Alex keep working with him, it will take time, he will eventually take you when he feels 100% safe. Just be patient. I've been through this many times with strays/ feral cats. They eventually realize you mean no harm.
