no Camaro has the ability to turn like a huracán, he is just a fanatic. I bet he never drove a supercar on the track. the only car that resembles a huracán is the C8, and the only ones that can beat supercars on the track are the C7 Z06 and C7 ZR1. tbh he looks like a hater

@@jonas210034 even so, the feeling of driving a mid-engined supercar is totally different, especially if it's AWD. to get close to supercars on the track using a Camaro you need to be an excellent driver, and the difficulty of driving fast in a ZL1 is much greater. that is what I mean. a Camaro will always be a Camaro, a mustang will always be a mustang, no matter how fast. the C8 is already a level up, even though the base model the interior is much better, and technology is another level, even though it costs more than a ZL1 the C8 is still a better sports car. the C8 Z06 will definitely enter supercar territory.
@@jonas210034 people don't understand that GM is targeting Porsche. the corvette C8 was developed based on the 911. it is no wonder that the performance of the Carrera S and the C8 are so similar. corvette and Porsche are high end Sport cars. mustang's and camaro's are sporty with a focus on performance only, they fall short of the other things that many consider important. if you are looking for a performance-only car buy a muscle car, but if you are looking for a more beautiful, more technological, more comfortable car with an interior worthy of a 90k car then buy a C8. or other sports car from some premium brand

@@mattm2507 ZL1 ran nurburgring in 1:31. C8 ran it in 1:30; however, zl1 runs the quarter in the 9s stock. So with that being said, you can get a car(zl1) that costs less(we all know a c8 is 70 grand base seeing as anyone who wants performance is going to need mag ride and z51 package), runs comparable road course times, has a faster 1/4, andd is cheaper to mod. I'll take zl1 for the win on that one. The only reason anyone would chose the c8 is based on looks and that's a subjective decision.
The zl1 1le, although slower in a quarter mile due to drag, is 15 seconds faster on the ring compared to the C8. So, for 72,500(2500 more than a c8 if you don't go with higher trims), you can crush a c8 on a road course.
Basically what I'm saying is, If you buy the zl1, you can be comfortable, hang with the C8 at the road course, spend less money, and kill it at drag strips orrr you can buy a zl1 1le and spend the same money and kill it at a road course.
No, neither the zl1 or zl1 1le will win beauty contests compared to the C8(although I like the look of the zl1 1le) but you will perform just as well if not better. That whole "pony cars dont work on road courses" line is dead now. You need to get to more road courses...

To the first point you made. The C8 is too long for me to want to track it/have fun with it. Would I want a zl1...nope, probably not. I agree with you..it's heavy, but that leads me back to my initial question. Are we talking experience or numbers? If we are talking experience, then I'm buying neither. If we are talking performance, then nod goes to zl1, and while I'm sure the zl1 1le isnt the most comfortable thing, some people like that...I being one of those people. Yes, there is such thing as too stiff but I doubt the zl1 1le is what I would call too stiff but what do I know...never riden/driven in one.
Gt350 and 350r were built for a road course. So was the zl1 l1e and the 1le SS/RS. Pony cars have kinda left the drag scene(even though people want to keep them there). A gt350r is 3700 and a C8 is 3450. Do you really think the every day joe is going to notice the weight difference. Yes, the gt500 is a fat cow but it was made for duel purpose so it is what it is in regards to that car. Also, lets not mention hellcats or demons. Those things only belong ONE place...period. I have seen some scary track sessions with hellcats who don't know they are hellcats.

@@mattm2507 What are you talking about?? Nowhere in my comments have a mentioned anything about drag racing...I hate drag racing. I've only mentioned things about road courses and that's all I will ever talk about because a) that's what matters to me and b) as you have said and as everyone knows, this car was not built for a drag strip.
And yes, I've seen the speed phenom video. First off, that's a track day...not a race. In other words, if you really think a gt3rs's owner is going to push his car to the point of wrecking/damaging their car for bragging rights, then you are nuts. Same can be said for the C8 owner. Also, track days are driver limited. In other words, the gt3rs's owner probably doesn't know his car at the limits as can be seen by the fact that he is braking hella early for no reason. Hell, If you watch the video you can see a civic type R in the C8s mirror keeping up. That's a front wheel driven car with nowhere near the hp but it seems the owner knows how to drive his car. So with that being said, using that video as "facts'' is probably not the best move.
M2 competiton, Audi RS3, Mustang Gt PP2, etc, etc. All of these cars are cheaper than the vette and either can run with it in stock form orrrr with a few mods, they will either compete with it or beat it. Let's take a Mustang Gt PP2. There is already proof on the internet of a mustang gt FBO w/e85 beating a C8 in a straight line(see corvette direct). So, with a few suspension mods(which it probably doesn't need), it will definitely hang with or beat the C8. Honestly man, I know my road course stuff...it's all I do on my spare time.
***The brakes on the z51 are definitely not the weak point. That is the one consistent thing praised in just about every video Ive watched***

Probably but the all out version of the Camaro is nice for a Chevy it isn’t something I’d consider great. And I’m a Chevy guy. Own 3 of them at the moment. I like nicks channel just that it was funny the way he was ragging on a lambo in comparison to a Camaro

The two cars are if completely different stature I’ll agree but when you pay 200k base price. I don’t want it to feel like my mk6 golf inside just painted with a coat of gloss over top all the plastic. Our opinions are based off our experiences. That was his and i support him in saying it felt cheap.

It's perfectly fine to hang onto classics like a 69 Camaro but some guys never seem to evolve and just can't acknowledge how the Vette has evolved into an exotic super car. Why can't people just like great cars for being great cars whatever the badging.

People have got to cut that base model stuff out already. When you switched up the engine layout, you lost the ability to say base model. This thing was supposed to be the “supercar” destroyer...now it’s “just a base model”.

The handling they "nailed" is a ton of understeer that is there so people who don't understand how mid-engined cars drive different than front engine won't put their new C8s into trees. Hopefully over time the community can figure out how to tune it and make it a better drivers car.
EV performance is not going to ruin or damage the spirit of these performance vehicles. It's going to take them to the next level. Instant Torque and low center gravity is going to do amazing things for cars.
The C8 gearing is part of the problem when you feel that you lose that acceleration feel. 4th gear is only 0.88.

I drive a 17' SS 6 speed. When Vette makes a manual I will take a look. Until then I happy with my Super Sport.
Eventually all cars will be electric, so we probably have to get accustomed to the idea of classic model names being applied to electric cars going forward.

I disagree. I think an electric power plant is just another progression as the model gets along further in the future. Think of it the same as LT1 to LS1, etc etc. They will probably do the same to the Mustang here soon too. I’m not saying I specifically like the idea, but it’s just a natural technology progression.

Judging by how often Nick's cars are back at csp getting fixed and issues at the track....... csp would not be my first choice on getting my band new C8 modified. Probably not my 10th choice either. A certain someone that used csp and that Andy guy, now ships his cars all the way to Texas. He's had 0 issues and that ZR1 is a beast. Just saying the closest shop isn't always the best shop

@@kennyrogers1243 he may not have had a lot of work done at csp but he definitely used them. Plenty of older videos showing him there. Only reason mike gave for not using rpm was their waiting period.crazy enough he shipped his car to LMR, got the work done, and shipped it back, before rpm could have even started working on it. That just shows the quality work that rpm does as well. Only shop I'd use on the east coast is rpm. Fran and the boys are top notch. Andrew is a clown. Change my mind lol
I think people dont understand that when you go so far out and do something uncommon like the freedom rocket you're going to have issues and work out kinks on the car. look at cleetus. no one would say he doesn't know anything about cars or how to build them but his videos consistently are about fixing the drag cars when they're used. parts have wear when you push them. the shop can do everything right but parts can still break and the car seam unreliable. Andrew does good work.

@@MrMipy2447 please tell me how the freedom rocket is so far out there. Its literally a LT with a blower on it. Then CSP stacked all kinds of BS on it. I'm not a mike fan boy but he beats the shit out of that ZR1 daily on the road and it's probably a 8sec car. Not 1 single issue, no meth, no e85, no ice tank, full length exhaust, 0 issues. Compare both cars, then compare both shops, common denominator is CSP shop and they are constantly going through tunes. It doesn't need to be that damn complicated. RPM does a lot of add ons but they are simple and their shit works. If you have a choice between CSP, RPM or LMR, an ssd's you choose CSP, you need to have your head evaluated

Quick question. if I already ordered my C8 corvette, Without Z51 magnetic suspension and front lift with memory, Can I place the order through the dealer and they install it at the dealer when the car gets there?
No. These options are built into the car at the factory. Better to buy your Corvette as you've ordered it, then order another with these options, drive the first C8 until the new one comes in, then sell the first one for hopefully a profit, or if not, very close to what you paid for it as long as you keep it in good condition and don't rack up the miles.

I agree with you on the electric camaro or electric corvette . I still dont like the c8 cause it's not a real true vette in my mind. It's now an American lambo and yeah that's cool but it's not typical traditional front engine rear drive American sports car just raw driving experience.

There's been problems with multiple people's dyno sessions with these cars. Motor Trend had the same problem. Those numbers aren't accurate, it's much more like mid 400s at the wheels
Yes and some dynos do read low and for some reason the numbers were a big change from what gm said it was going to be stock, and that cant be right bc they said it would be 450 stock but it made more then that
