- Join me today on a beautiful Fall day in the yard, and then I am going to share with you a new discovery....an item I wish I had known about years ago. We are also going to The New London Inn/The Elms for an Anniversary dinner.

I've used hardware cloth or small-scale chicken wire over the top of my in-ground bulbs to keep the critters from having a feast. Bending pieces of wire coat hangers can make great staples to fasten the sides of the wire. They're not smart enough to dig in diagonally. Thanks for the lovely video and blessings to you both.

Happy Anniversary to you and Mark. You've inspired me to get out and plant my bulbs....we have had such a wet Autumn here in the UK that I've not been into the garden much. Looking forward to seeing your tulips and hyacinths in the Spring (I've never seen or heard of an orange hyacinth either) x

The mistake I made was winterizing my bulbs in containers outside. Rained mostly in CT last winter and my bulbs got mushy by Spring. Might have time to collect some bulbs and place containers in the garage. Will note when you put them out in 2024. Happy Anniversary and Thanksgiving!

Happy Anniversary to both of you. The scrubber can be found many times right next to the Lodge Cast Iron pan display at hardware and farm stores and Bass Pro Shop. I even saw them at Walmart . Lodge carries them online. They do work great.Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

I've given up on planting tulip bulbs at our Lake House, the squirrels and chipmunks love eating them too much. Over the years l must have planted about a thousand daffodil bulbs of all sizes, colours, singles and doubles,in among our trees. I never have planted bulbs in containers over the winter ,l was told that the soil in the pots will thaw and freeze too often during the winter. Good luck though, hopefully you'll have luck with them!!

Your wagon wheel story was very cute....such history and yearly tracking of your children. I'm surprised that you don't keep it in a covered porch or a more protected place to keep it from wood rot. It has a rich history.

Hi Carla, great video, I just love the type of weather when it’s so dry the leaves are crisps like that lovely to walk through. That’s an interesting discovery of how to clean that type of pan, I have never seen the chain cleaner in any shop! Belated Happy Anniversary to you & Mark, the inn looked gorgeous, I thought the green paintwork looked nice! Would you every paint your Grandfathers Wagon wheel & hang it? I can see it in a lovely red colour, or is that sacrosanct??..🤭
Thank you Jean! The Wheel is rather brittle, so we really don't move it, It's also quite large to hang on any wall in our house, but that's a great idea. Have a great week Jean!
