That is a massive sorting project. I recently made the unfortunate discovery about LEGO mixing all the pieces in Pick a Brick orders when I ordered a bunch of tiles and other parts for a mosaic. Took me longer to sort the parts than to make the mosaic. Look forward to seeing your project!
I wasn't holding my breath that they would sort them. This will be a fun family project. I totally believe you regarding your mosaic project. Must have been a nightmare.
Make sure to count and sort as I did an order a short while ago and was missing several pieces. Now I'm just waiting for the missing parts order to arrive before beginning my project
Alex, did you say "micro-scale city" ???!!! I'm an AFOL father -- recent empty nester, small apartment + no I don't want to display LEGO on every available shelf/surface -- and despite having thousands of sets (my kids' childhood + my own purchased as recently as last month: newer castle/medieval village etc) I mostly build/enjoy /store. I REALLY need a micro-scale city. Unfortunately I'm not a MOCer -- and micro building, much like writing short fiction, can seem deceptively simple, but it's quite challenging and requires creativity. So I look forward to learning from your project Alex. I rarely comment (third time in about 5-8 years -- first time was your city's HVAC "disaster" whenever that was) so hello to wonderful Mindy (who adds so much to the channel), your boys, and thank YOU Alex.
Thanks for the comment. It's great to hear from long time viewers of my channel. That HVAC disaster was the great dust storm of 2015. It has been 9 years now. wow! Yep, this is a micro scale project. I can appreciate your comment about writing short fiction. This project has me nervous, but I feel like it is a good challenge to grow my skills. I'll learn along the way and I am sure there will be a lot of trial and error. Thanks again and congrats on being an empty nester!
Lots going on for sure. My amusement park rebuild is actually done, but the way I went about it created another project. Funny how that always happens. Next week it should be all wrapped up.
Looks like those are bestseller parts coming from the Romeoville IL warehouse here in the states? I’ve noticed they just lump everything together like that. My orders of the non-bestseller parts come from Denmark via Enfield CT and are much more likely to be individually bagged, especially if you order larger round numbers of individual parts, like 50 or 100 of an element. They will still combine some but it is not nearly as bad as the bestsellers situation. It’s def tedious to sort but it is at least somewhat fun to sort and see all the parts I paid so much money for :/
Yes, a little overwhelming, but also very exciting! Nice to do something different and challenging at someone else's expense, to. I have no ideas other than Family Sorting Night. Best of luck with the build and have fun with it😊
Very cool! The company was smart to hire you for the commission What scale of microscale is it? Something interesting is that Lego kind of has microscale scales, for example the titanic and statue of Liberty sets are both at the same micro scale. And there's microfigs and nanofigs, and architecture sets scales. The only microscale MOC I've made is a digital microscale version of h the office set. Building microscale digitally is harder than regular scale, so not using it is probably good in this case
Wow now thats a haul!! Its so weird that they just chuck everything in one bag. You would think it would be more efficient for them to have it sorted. But what do i know
Wow!!! That is amazing!!!😂 and I think you need a mini version of your own home 🏡 soooooooo that would be great Iregardless you probably won’t have enough things 😢 but this is fun! I think you will go to town on this, oh and you can get a baby shmew tower
Wow, awesome video and best of luck on this project. We can’t wait to see the updates along the way. What an honor to be asked to do this. Happy Easter to you and your family 😊
Thanks, Kim. I appreciate this and will let you know. I'm not the best builder, but I feel like I am surrounded by several great creators to draw inspiration from.
Happy Easter Alex to you and your family !! You and Mindy will be knolling & sorting 'til November !! -- Yikes , looking forward to more , much much ... more ! Later Dreamer
I am currently working on creating a space for it downstairs. This means no other project on the city can be open. I am hoping by next weekend I'll be able to polish up the latest rebuild and focus on this.
It's better to use LEGO, changes can be made at any time. Didn't Mr. Brady build or use architectural models? When your commission is done, get a hair perm to show it off!
This opportunity came from someone noticing my social media. I received a message both on my IG and my Facebook group. I wasn't actively looking for this work, so I don't feel like I can give any advice on how to get it other than get your work out there for people to see. Hope that helps.

Its ridiculous that bricklink sellers pack pieces better than Lego
All those mixed parts bags! Good luck with your sorting.
Thanks, I think I finally found a job for Josh.
Wow, Mindy has a lot of sorting to do ✅😆
Goodluck on the moc its gonna be dope.
Thanks, I appreciate it. It will be a fun and challenging build.
@@alexnunesyeah!
Ha ha I haven't heard "Dork Dot" in almost 13 years, wow.
Can't wait to see your creation!
Make sure to count and sort as I did an order a short while ago and was missing several pieces. Now I'm just waiting for the missing parts order to arrive before beginning my project
Yep, I have a long history of LEGO missing a few parts in my Pick-A-Brick orders. 😢
It’s a good thing Mindy likes to sort. lol. That’s like a weekend project by itself
So get this, today is her last day at the hospital. She's gonna have a lot of free time coming up. I timed it well. My evil plan is working.
@@alexnunes next thing you know lego will be in the living room. Wait that already happened
Can't wait to see the time lapse on the sorting! :D Good luck with the project!
holy wow that's alot of lego pieces! this commissioned project sounds interesting.

Jeff Friesen has written several books about microscale Lego.
Geez between that commission job and your amusement park your year is set

Thanks, this will be a good challenge. Like you said, it is different. I wonder if I will be sad when I have to give it away to them?
Well, it might be a little sad, but you'll have a little bonus to help with that!@@alexnunes
WOW!
Just to check if you got everything is going to be a heck of a chore.
WOW tons of LEGO - Will have to check back in a couple of Months to see this MOC completed - Good Luck
Gonna be a fun one for sure. Thanks!
Yikes! Hope the sorting is going/went well :-)

The project has been going great so far. It still has a long way to go.
Hope you like sorting! 😅 Looking forward to seeing what you make from it all, I’m a big fan of microscale.
Wow, awesome video and best of luck on this project. We can’t wait to see the updates along the way. What an honor to be asked to do this. Happy Easter to you and your family 😊
Thanks, I am very excited to get this project going. Happy Easter!
Very interesting. Not sure what I can do to help but If you ever have questions, feel free to ask 😊
I recently purchased the Bricks & Tricks by J. Klang. Not sure what LEGO books are your favorite.
Thanks, Kim. I appreciate this and will let you know. I'm not the best builder, but I feel like I am surrounded by several great creators to draw inspiration from.

Woa... Looking forward for the result. I suspect that you beard will be Grayish White at the end.
Here’s an idea for your microscale LEGO city: make a huge layout of sea blue LEGOS and call it the Lost City of Atlantas.
ooo this will be cool
Who wants to guess how much this haul cost? My guess is $2,500.00.
Where are you going to put this
I am currently working on creating a space for it downstairs. This means no other project on the city can be open. I am hoping by next weekend I'll be able to polish up the latest rebuild and focus on this.
Wow, so maney pieces! I hope that the window elements don't have scratches. Lego don't sort these pieces properly😬😬😬
I am nervous about scratches too. A lot of pieces are the transparent blue and clear.
Wow, I'm kinda disappointed in Lego. Not sorting that for shipment into specific bags, SUCKS!
Its ridiculous that most bricklink sellers pack pieces better than Lego
It's better to use LEGO, changes can be made at any time. Didn't Mr. Brady build or use architectural models? When your commission is done, get a hair perm to show it off!
I believe he did, but wanted something unique. This should check that box for him.
cant wait
Massive sorting project before the commissioned project - SO sorry. Any chance to know how you got the gig? Maybe you could teach others.
